One thing I'd tell my 19 year old self = control the controllables. There is no point worrying about things you have no influence on. 😎
Interesting!!
this is gold yo
This is one of my recent learnings too! 🙋🏻♀️ I feel like this Corona situation helped many people (including me) understand that you can think and plan and worry but there are ultimately things that are out of your control! So, you just need to focus on doing your part and trusting that you can figure things out as you go 😊
This is so so essential for a teenager. I am 22 now and finally feel that I am starting to learn this. Great advice!
Easier said than done. That girl will always make you stare and waste time.
"The pain that you feel today, is the strength that you will have tomorrow... "
Suffering is powerful isn’t it?
Who said that? You? It’s a good phrase though
"When you work for yourself, act like a professional". I feel like just doing that will make a huge difference.
I’m 19 and needed this, thank you for the knowledge.

Omg Lucid is here!
Im about to be 18 im spooked i make content but im not ready 😖

📚 My summary:
📗 LESSON 1: Your best friends are deadlines and accountability.
1.1 Structure is your friend when it comes to getting your work done.
1.2 System 1 (subconscious) is the horse, the rider is System 2.
1.3 Amateurs wait until they wait to feel inspired. Professionals just get the work done.
1.4 An external system of motivation
📒 LESSON 2: Reach out and build relationships.
2.1 Reach out to other entrepreneurs/your contemporaries who share your passions
2.2 Hesitation when reaching out is a very real, prevalent fear.
2.3 You need to be "ready" if it's a pitch: Whatever you're offering needs to interest the other party.
2.4 BUT not every interaction is transactional. They can be relational.
2.5 The Fan First approach.
📘 LESSON 3: Know the taxes you have to pay as an entrepreneur.
3.1 Self-employment tax is paid ON TOP OF employment tax.
3.2 Budget model spreadsheet in the description for US viewers.
📙 LESSON 4: Get a lawyer and an accountant
4.1 It's possible to DIY at the start: Legal zoom and Turbotax
4.2 Thomas never reached out because he assumed it would be too expensive
4.3 BUT hiring a professional is going to be worth it in the long run.
4.4 Start building your team: Ask your local entrepreneur community.
📕 LESSON 5: Become an unprompted learner
5.1 College purports to be a guided path with a solid set of directions.
5.2 Much rarer is the type of person who is willing to figure out the set of directions for themselves.
5.3 You, as an entrepreneur, need to be that person. You need to build the guiding structures.
One of the first things you'll need if you want to run an online business: An online store. Que Shopify add.
📖 Done and done! Hope that helped! 🙃
📽 I make similar content to Frank's, centered around the idea of becoming a Renaissance Person (polymath, specialized generalist, whatever you wanna call it).
Check it out if you're keen --- have a lekker day! 🍫🍻
Great summary! New subscriber here.
Great summary! I clicked into your channel and it’s really thoughtful. Subscribed!

For anyone over 19, its never too late to start! I started a business at 26 and I'm still learning and growing on a daily basis, you'll never feel ready or know everything. I also started a channel to help others with personal finance and career, the first few times I recorded I felt super awkward, but its all a learning process.
Time to build an empire...
Hey! I'm a 19 year old who would like to create content, also educational content. Would you have any tips where to start, where to get ideas from, etc?
@@e.m.4750 While I can't tell you what topic or specific idea, whatever topics you're interested in requires research and time to learn it. There will likely be others interested in the same topic(just search RUclips for that topic and see if there is interest in terms of views or other channels doing that topic. There's enough room for a lot of people to cover the same topic because everyone will make videos or blog posts in their own unique way. You likely have questions before and during your research that others have. You could Research, Learn, answer those questions, then make a video or blog about what you just learned. Good luck E.M. you have a lot of time to learn, mess up, learn, fail, learn, implement and succeed, but only if you are consistently consistent!
For me I picked my ideas and topics because I'm a personal finance nerd and mentor people for their career and love talking about this stuff with friends, so I saw there's a lot of channels covering these topics, so I figured why not make a channel and experiment. I'll learn a lot in the process and If I help just one person then its worth it.
Agree completely, but of course the earlier you start the better
Thank you! 🤔
You're a force for good Thomas. You're really inspiring thousands of young entrepreneurs!
Not to say that you inspired me to start my own channel about self development!!
Somehow that first sentence reminded me of Yoda
Encouraging! Thank you

👍👍
19 years old, 19 minutes, and 19 seconds...hmm 🤔 (Edit: thank you for the 190 likes and 19 comments, maybe if we did 19 retweets and shared, Thomas might mention it haha)
He does this. It’s a little easter egg. Good on you for noticing. 😉
Let us make this 19 comments.
I spotted it also !

Congrats on 10 years, brother. You’re always an inspiration 🤘🏻
Hey Nathan, Love your vids🤘🏻🤘🏻
My last day at my job was Thursday - I got laid off.
I'm going to look for another job, but for the next month I'm going to focus on what I have been putting off - being an entrepreneur and doing my own thing on RUclips.
FIRST you find a regular job and learn how to work effectivily so you won't be fired again.
SECONDO you carry on with this youtube thing (how original! Nonbody thought about it ...) in your free time.
Thomas I mean this when I say that you and Matt inspired me to start a RUclips and “blog” business. Seeing the realness both of you have in your videos especially with ones like this let’s me know I made the right choice to try and emulate you guys in little ways because you’re so genuine and great. Definitely going to use these tips!
Yeah brother and we all know that you will make it too :)
This is awesome. I feel similar
Just a comment to support your amazing work! Thank you for your humbleness, Thomas.
title: "...my 19 year old self"
length: 19 minutes and 19 seconds
nice
Whoa!
hahaha nice detail there
As the age grows, no of regrets increase
Coincidence, I don't think so lol
Your productivity vids actually inspire me to be more productive and you’ve changed my life by helping me improve my grades and my channel:)
Well done
Great video, Thomas!
The 19 minutes scared me off because some RUclipsrs spread out the content too thinly, but every point you brought up was relevant to the core message and you kept my attention. Time flew!
Glad you enjoyed it! The original cut that used my blog post version as a script was closer to 30 minutes 😂
As someone with ADHD, I agree
05:28 Is the 2 seconds of Matt and Thomas that you didn't know you needed.
It's a big myth that becoming your own boss = freedom. You definitely have more control over HOW & WHEN you work - but the WHAT i.e. the thing you get paid for, is rarely something you get freedom over (I've been my own boss for 4 yrs)
Congrats on 10-years, Thomas, and thanks so much for all the great work you've produced and shared along the way!
The value you continue to bring us is truly priceless. Thank you! ✌🏾❤️
Wow man so so much information, thank you so much for all the value!!
I felt it when you talked about being lonely in this kind of stuff, as my relatives are not as nerdy as I am when it comes to it. I have a blog with content about architecture, engineering and construction, your content was very rich for me. Thanks!
I'm sooo happy to see how far you've come. Almost feeling like I've grown up along side you.
Seen you come along so much just finding ways to be a better person.
Ty for everything!

Found this video super useful man. Thanks for sharing this 🙌
Congrats on your first decade, Thomas! May you have many more to come!
Great advice and thanks for sharing!
Finished my BBA in Management Information Systems in May. I found your channel in my junior year and you really helped me center myself and focus on my studying habits. I was very productive and I still am. Sort of. The pandemic has made me a tad lazy. I like to help people out and that drew me to your channel. The pomodoro technique, reading self help books, everything. I actually invested my time to learn everything I could in college and I am proud of myself of becoming the first grad in a first gen immigrant family. I really appreciate you and I would love to meet you in person some day! Cheers class of 2020! We did it!
Really enjoyed this Thomas. Thank you! Reaching out is something I really struggle with.
Shout out Des Moines! Spent some time there in the past. Friendly people!
Congrats, I love your content, keep going please, inspirational work for me.
Thank you, Thomas, for the amazing content and for inspiring and guiding a lot of us young college students to start a business and to be on top of things. we owe you big time!
Love this one! Thank you 😊
Thank you for this! It feels like getting started with this is the longest and hardest part, been working on my goals for a year now and it still feels like I have so much to learn.
So much value in this video!! Thank you so much @Thomas!
Very helpful !! Thanks for sharing I’ve learn some of this lessons myself some other not yet but your insight was great
This video is spot on! Thank you for this!
Thanks a lot for your precious advice Frank.
Been following since the summer before my freshman year of college! I graduated last year and still love the growth and direction of your channel! Keep it up dude!
Needed this!
Oh Thomas! Congratulations on the 10 year anniversary! You're an Amazing person and you've helped me to be a better person!
Congratulation on the anniversary! ... and thank you for your great content!
I enjoyed this a lot and would definitely be keen to hear more content.
Informative one, Thanks a ton for making it.
Awesome video man and great insight. Congrats on the 10 years, looking forward to seeing what's next!
More content like this would be great. More about finding a lawyer and accountant. Where to look, what to ask, what to expect. Also some examples of failing fast and when to stop a project that isn't going well.
This is ecxactly what I needed to hear! Thank you Thomas! You're awesome!
Very valuable info Thomas, we appreciate all the value you give us for free. You're one of the people who inspired me to start my own channel. Thank you man!
Thomas Frank sir... you have been such an important part of my quarantine, you single handedly changed my entire perspective on what I do for a living. I never gave myself enough credit for what I did in my day to day, and also what I’ve been doing over the last 4 years. Making that mindset switch from just being a “freelance videographer” to Business Owner & Entrepreneur has allowed my business to come on leaps and bounds and also allow me to truly feel better about what I’m doing. Huge respect to you sir ❤️
Absolutely loved this video, it was super insightful!!
Great Info, thank you so much!🙏🏾
Congratulations!! Happy 10 years! Here is to many more!
Great video Thomas! Very inspiring for me and my channel 💓
This might be my favorite video you've posted. I learned a lot of the same lessons. I'm still learning lessons. I hope the younger/newer folks are listening!
Such a great video! I first found your channel a couple years back when I was in college pursing a degree in Exercise Physiology. Your videos really helped me establish good study and productivity habits. Fast-forward a few years later, I've been working at a gym training clients but have decided to go independent and start my own private training business. This video is just what I needed to help get the ball rolling. Thanks Thomas!
I needed this when I was 19!! But this is a great reminder for my start! Thank you!!
Congratulations Thomas. Keep making these awesome videos
Amazing man! Congrats on the 10 yr anniversary!
Yayy!love your productive vids Thomas!
Of all of your videos, this was hands down my favorite.
Your anecdote about your friends complaining while college applications perfectly captured the difference between those who go on to start their own ventures vs. others. Curiosity and the love of learning is a key characteristic, one that made me a subscriber to your channel.
As a solo founder myself, I know I could have benefitted from watching this prior to starting my journey. Not only is this very honest and good advice, but also very well said and produced. Hats off to you and your team.
Thank you for doing what you do!
This is really helpful. Thank you!
Love this video, I've just started my own coaching business and this tips help a lot
THANK YOU! I NEED TO HEAR THIS 💯
Putting Thomas's advice into practice and commenting as a "fan" on this video. Thank you so much for this helpful advice! I'm eager to start my journey as an entrepreneur and these tips will be invaluable as I move forward!
I love this video! Great job!
Definitely would love more content like this! One thing I struggle with is the question of "Am I doing enough?". I often feel a level of guilt if I'm not spending all my time working on my business.
Definetly more of this please. Awesome video
You are a great source of inspiration dude!!! Keep rocking...
This is extremely helpful thanks!

Thomas your doing great man, ive been following you since your video on habtiRPG and its crazy to see how your channel has evolved throughout the years from the clean film making, to the amount of research you compile in your videos from different books and sources. Congrats man on almost reaching 2 million you deserve it.
Appreciate your channel btw. Helped me through college big time
This is the video I needed to urgently and desperately see. Thanks.

This video came right on time! I'm a 19 year old with aspirations for content creation, and I was thinking about that stuff right before I got on my pc and checked RUclips. The timing! Thank you Thomas for your wise tips!
Yes we need more videos like this.
From student to your own boss. That's what everyone need.

Congratulations on completing 10 years :) your work always inspire me.
Loved the video, thank you! The production quality is so nice. One of the struggles I have is to remind myself that you didn’t start out like this, but it makes it soooo tough to not try and set the bar that high...
I always enjoy these types of videos and would love to see more! Especially videos on how you made your first dollar from your business, how you scaled up, etc.
You really inspired us! Watching your vids made me have a fixed mindset. A fifteen year old me applied your technics in studying and it turned out great. Thank you for creating this channel. God bless
Yes! We like this. This is very helpful. I would love to learn more from you. I really admire your work. Thank you so much.
Great video, very useful!
