You’re the only video I could find on the pump replacement in the assembly. Everyone else just replaced the entire unit. Thank you!

Informative. It was nicely done, only if the lighting was better.

I'm about to do the same thing on my 2001 Highlander. I have a new fuel pump, pick-up sock, filter and regulator. Wish me luck!!

@@Tempsho I think the 2001 has the old tank cover that is bolted on and you don't have to deal with the plastic retaining ring. Let me know how it goes. Best of luck.

After i rebuilt it, i made the mistake of not changing out the o rings. one of them failed and i had to diagnose and reopen it and switch them out. lots of aggravation. The good thing i did was use all OEM parts except the pump. ended up switching out the pump for oem too. after all of that, i found out that the origninal pump was fine, i just needed a new pump relay. lol. life experience. it was hard to get that plastic ring off. my tip/trick is to use equal force on both sides of the removal tool instead of just pushing on one side with a socket wrench. throw a socket extender in the other side of the tool to "pull" from when you push on the socket wrench, if that makes any sense. hard to describe.
