I love watching Heilung reaction videos; always curious what first-time viewers think. I've been to over a thousand concerts (only 3 of which were Heilung) and NOTHING compares to seeing them live. They awakened something so deep and beautifully primitive my soul and I love it! They put so much thought and work into their music and art. Thank you for doing them justice!
Oh Kelly you found hielung such beautiful German folklore music from the past that this group brings to the ears of the listener much like wintersun and ensiferum use viking folklore in their music. And as you have a singing background you will appreciate the melodic vocals that they use in their music. And we here in Texas are still in recovery from the hurricane damage to my town Huntsville Texas I'm still volunteering help pass out water and food to people that lost their homes as a update if you wanted to know since I let you know earlier this week but we took a break to watch your reaction and analysis today for this song we are big wintersun and ensiferum fans here and we love you too Kelly. Wintersun Alex in Texas ❄️👋❤️
Heilung is German, Norwegian and Danish not only German.Their music are from several sources German, Frenc, Scandinavia and the rest of the Nordics but also a lot of other countries.
Thanks for reacting !............Heilung ("Healing") calls their music 'Amplified History' ---- they take texts from pre-Christian Norse & Germanic sources & create rituals in their performances, adding their interpretations.....they make their instruments & costumes......in this ritual, Anoana is the living spirit of nature, hence her reviving the dead bird.....I think the ending represents her merging with the ox in a perpetuation of the 'cycle of life'........the language is proto-Germanic, I think.........luv the Enya reference.....check out "Norupo", where the band takes the story from authentic rune stones to perform the ritual
Can I just add som points that are important in seeing this? The most important being that the child is born under an eclipse 0:56 (seen in background several times). According to previking believs they had very special gifts: hamnskifte (= the ability to change appearance), age shift, talking to animals, and healing as in when she heals the bird. The previking time and it's religion in nordic countries is much more female directed than the religion in the later years (viking gods like Tor and Oden with all the everpresent masculinity... ). Actually it is more animistic than divine. The language they use is only partially known and therefore reconstructed. The final scene is when she reunites with her totem, the muschosoxe. (Partially reposted from my earlier comment on this movie)
Heilung" means "healing" in German. There's a live version of the song titled "Anoana Live| LIFA Llyn Dain". It's an amazing version with a different vibe. (also, a full stage ensemble)
Thanks Kelly for answering my comments we are watching your reactions this week to take our minds of our volunteering here in helping others out. And what better way to do it with our favorite RUclips channel yours . Wintersun Alex in Texas ❄️👋❤️
What Maria is doing is a form of ancient herd calling with roots back to the Viking age probably longer that are still being used here in Norway today Sweden to i belive
OMG!!! I am so glad you have gotten to Heilung! I left a comment on your video for TOOL’s Reflection. Both are bands are part of my spiritual journey. Heilung has a number of videos from their 2017 LIFA performance (or ritual). “Krigsgaldr” is a good one to check out next. ruclips.net/video/QRg_8NNPTD8/видео.html Heilung is based in Northern Europe. Kai (male singer) from Germany, Maria (female singer) from Norway & Christopher (male singer, musician, sound engineer) from Denmark.
Exactly. This is the reason why I wanted to do a reaction channel. Expose people to all kinds of music that I have never heard about or thought existed and I am glad you are all suggested music that most of us have never heard before. Thank you for watching.
been having a hard time recently but your channel and reactions like this one have been a welcome distraction, thanks! would love for you to react to At the Risk of Feeling Dumb from twenty one pilots new album- powerful message about checking in on your friends.
@@BeeKnown I'm glad I could be a distraction and I'm sorry your having a hard time. I am sure things will get better soon. I remain positive.. Take care thank you for watching.... I'll add your song on.. ♥️
Some context for the music video: The girl with the antlers was born during an eclipse. In some proto-germanic and eurasian cultures & myths those born during an eclipse would have special abilities, for example healing, giving life, shapeshifting etc. The girl in the video is seen healing the deceased bird and being fairly in touch with nature. In the end she's being reborn by reuniting with her spirit animal - her totem, the Ox. In the culture where I come from we have Fylgjur, which can be simply broken down to "spirit animal" (there's more elaborate information online, it would just burst the seams of this comment to explain it in personal words). These can be either in the appearance of a woman or an animal. It is said that meeting your Fylgjur can mean big changes in your life, often times death. They accompany us throughout life and into death for reincarnation. This differs in alot of germanic cultures though as sadly, most of it was entirely lost when Christianity and other forces took over. It is not uncommon to see ties or similar elements in proto-germanic & eurasian northern hemisphere cultures within native tribes from Turtle Island (America) - it is not to be forgotten that the ancestors of the natives in America in big parts came over the ice bridge and had people from eurasian cultures as well if I am not misremembering. Their culture shifted and adapted into the culture we see within several native tribes today! (honestly a very comforting part that even though alot of proto-germanic and eurasian heritage had been destroyed and wiped there is still active parts that developed from these roots practiced today, such as native american culture or those of the Samí and indigenous tribes all over the northern hemisphere). Concepts such as using blood to paint instruments, animal parts in clothing (feathers, teeth, antlers/horns) to represent certain powers, occupations or connections, spirit animals/totem... they're connected and inspired, showing how similar humanity can be in their culture despite living thousands of miles apart.
Heilung's performance of Lifa at Castlefest was their first live performance together. It's available on their channel, and it's the full, uncut performance. It's more a ritual than a concert, and I highly recommend watching the entire thing. It's simply entrancing.
Anyone who tries to make any definitive propositional assertions about Ancient Norse beliefs is at best writing fan fiction. The earliest written records of them did not come until, 1220 at the earliest, and the guy who wrote them down was a Catholic Christian named Snorri Sturluson from Iceland.
As much fun as Heilung's videos are, their live performances are actually better. You are exactly right. The group has stated that it isn't important that you know what the words mean because the music is meant to be experienced as a ritual. Saw them in Norway and in the U.S. They often invite local indigenous dancers to join their ritual performances. They have certainly the most original act I've seen in 40 years. Pagan folk is a burgeoning genre and there are lots of bands now compared to 10 years ago but these guys are unique.
hah thank you I am actually debuting a different intro later tongiht when I post my next video. But thank you I am glad you think its catchy, i do too! But thought Id change it up alittle. Thank you for watching, ♥
Hi there I am new to you I have looked through all of your reactions on here and I see you like alot of different music ( alot of metal also) but if you want something completely different for you I have to artists for you to check out one is a young lady from Russia she just turned 20 her name is Diana Ankudinova she will blow your mind I would suggest starting with her cover of the classic Elvis song "Cant Help Falling in Love" then the other artist I have for you is an artist from Wales his name is Ren and I would suggest you start with his song "Hi Ren" he is very good he has been covered by Azahriah and I see you have a few of his songs that you have reacted to so I am sure you will like REN. Our people, all people were tribal at the beginning. Heilung connects with something in our DNA which moves us even if we don't understand why.
