This is basically Wily’s Castle in Mario, isn’t it? Still, this level is fantastic. I especially love the little touches in the level transition screens.

Don't forget Ghosts & Goblins. Every time it panned over the castle I could hear that map-screen jingle in my head.
Its definitely Castlevania. The cutscenes with the castle represents the castle. I recognize the beginning area at the entrance.

This is one of the most amazing levels I have ever seen in my entire life, incredible work!

This level is reminiscent of the final Wily bases in every Mega Man game, the one I remember the most is from Mega Man II where there was 5 stages and then 1 true boss stage.
Very interesting. I didn't know that!
When the final boss is a little too easy, so the second phase gets revealed, haha. Yeah I loved how it looked like the Dr Wily map screen!

This is so cool! I love the Dr Wily style map screen, and how the red stage looks as well (kinda reminds me of Metroid). I'm surprised he managed to fit all of that in one level! Even with the sub-world, that's impressive!

The world map sections were really clever! I love how the on/off blocks were used to indicate cleared/uncleared levels, and that final twist was INSANITY. (Ok, maybe it wasn't, but I still liked it.)

The very opening reminded me a lil bit of the NES Dragon's Lair too.
That final boss, though. Also, very nice touch with the rubble around the flagpole.

Hey, can someone here in the comments help me get an idea or two? I'm stuck trying to make a good and fun course like this, but I'm just stuck with an empty mind.
Try and make a level where Mario gets a pet chain chomp! The goal is to protect it.
Or you could make a star speedrun, where you give the player super stars and the player has to run though the spiky maze.
A boss rush where if you cross a line, you die.
Make a 'The Room' like stage .

it might be bcause of lack of space, but i think it would of been better if the first key was from bowser jr, the second from booboom, and the last from bowser. but how cool would of it been if you could unlock a secret levle from all the red coins

Well I also made a level which I think is amazing as it‘s a metroidvania genre level. I even took notes before I made the level lmao.
It's a neat level, but how is this supposed to be a "full retro game" inside SMM2? All I see is a really long castle level with cutscenes in-between checkpoints and some bosses at the end. Still impressive though.
You do realize how difficult it is to make things like this, right? Have you ever played the game?
Hello there Castlevania, it's been a while.
"A Full Retro Game in One Level?" The answer is no. I'm not 100% sure whether this was paying homage to Megaman 2 or Castlevania 3-- I could see arguments for each-- but either way it's clearly just the endgame stages of the retro game it's referencing. Even mediocre, relatively obscure NES games like Dynowarz, Treasure Hunter, and A Boy and His Blob tended to have more content and longer gameplay than is possible in a Mario Maker level.
