I've seen several videos about the Spotlight SE, you're the first one to give a heads up about it getting hot to the touch. Thank you for that. Will probably be getting one next month. Great video. Appreciate you.
Great video! Tell me: would pairing the Spotlight SE with an Amaran 150c be just as good as the 300c? Any situations where it would lose out to a 300c?
Wow, I've been eying these for awhile and the smaller form factor is now looking like a green light. Dope work on the foliage background super natural!
Firstly I want to say that I'm happy for you Becca! I'm am looking forward to more content from you. I love my Pixel 9 Pro XL but I wish Google wouldn't rely on AI so much on their camera and focus on putting better hardware in there. I'd also say I wish Google would create an Android LOG video recording standard. It's a niche feature but makes sense to have it. There's only so much that software can do. The color shifting issues in the video make it clear. What Becca says at the end encapsulates this.
Great video Tyler. I’ve been using the original spotlight on set and you can create so much more interesting scenes with it. I’ll hopefully add the 300c and the SE to my kit at some stage next year
Great review and information, I have the spotlight SE with the 19-degree lens, and I am definitely a fan, it's a fantastic piece of kit that I would not give up. I use it with the 300c as well as the 150c, generally with I prefer it with the 150c as it doesn't get as hot and the 300c is usually a key light. However, the one thing I will say is that the Amaran really needs to work on the focusing aspect of the spotlight, it really is clunky at best and sometimes can be very difficult to adjust, especially when it is hot from running for a bit. Cheers keep up the fantastic content.
Honestly, I’m shocked (in a good way) with how good this spotlight is both in optical and build quality and the price is also great. Thanks for dropping by Joe!
Nice and i formative. Thanks for this. I have the Nanlite 60c and I’m looking to add my second light. I usually shoot commercial (products, food & some portraits). I mostly shoot indoors and rare outside. I like to play around with colors I’m choosing between the Amaran 300c and the Amaran 150c. What can you recommend? Thanks. (I don’t mind mixing brands) TIA!
Good info. Thanks! Observation: sounds like your audio has too much compressor or limiter in post. Each time you inhale between sentences, it's really loud and exaggerated. We had lots of trouble with this ourselves and stopped using leveling plugins because they were more trouble than they were worth.
It's amazing to me how poorly some films are lit, specifically when it comes to motivation. My wife works in the film industry, and she did a film last year with Micky Rourke. First, yes, he's a nutjob. Second, as you can imagine, it was a low budget film. Anyway, the lighting person must have just discovered color LEDs because there were no scenes without either blue or magenta lighting. Seriously, in the middle of the woods, magenta light?! Apparently, they missed the day in film class where the concept of "motivated lighting" was taught? Also, it was so poorly lit that the editor boosted the exposure of some scenes (specifically those in the woods) which would have been fine, except that the whole image was not boosted. Only the actors in the scene received the exposure increase. I could go on about how horrible this movie is, but it's really off topic. The point is, MOTIVATED LIGHTING is extremely important and I'm glad to see you talking about it here. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing! I just got my SE 36 this past week. I'm waiting on the Iris to be available. Do you ever feel like it doesn't focus well enough? Like the outer edges being too soft?
Great video as always. Question for you though. You mentioned its designed for the 150c and 300c. How does she run on the Amaran 200D? I'm wondering if the 200 is too punchy for it, as the 200 is pushing out more lumens (at least at 5600k) then the 300c. If you've any 1st hand experience I'd love to know!
I haven’t run it on a 200D but it should work great on it. I only have a 200x s (key light for this video) and that’s not really optimized for a spotlight anyways so I haven’t tried it with that.
Thanks for not praising the window blinds gobo to high heaven, as I find it way too unrealistic. The foliage one however is pretty nice, just a random pattern that convinces most people to be natural.
Great video Tyler, Thank you. Did you already own the regular spotlight? And if yes, do you intend to keep it/find yourself getting jobs in which you might use both spots? More a gear acquisition/management question for owner/operators. Thanks again!
@@dreamvision_media I don’t know. I haven’t tried it. I usually just follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. Ask aputute directly, they might have a better answer
That’s an awesome main light! Maybe a 150c and spotlight se or even a 100d or something could be a good addition in the future. Thanks for dropping by.
@@TylerEdwards It's great, I use it at 8% power when shooting F2.8 in my 10x10 feet studio and it is completely SILENT :D. Fan never kicks in. I'm actually got gobo projector on my to buy list, but amaran one is quite expensive in my country :(.
Dude u don't even show us how you position/ angle the spotlight against the wall to get the light to appear exactly how it is behind you - u need to give us a BTS still at least so we can figure it out. U don't even show which gobo u used from the set. I could figure some of it out coz I already know lighting but I can see newbies being completely clueless.

It’s crazy no one else has mentioned it. Sometimes I wonder if reviewers even use the product they review 😂
doesnt it have a warning on the top of the spotlight? im not 100 percent sure (i dont have one)
Great video, just picked one of these up while the cyber-monday sale was going on.
Awesome!
Enjoyed the video Tyler! Thanks for the great content :D
Thank you! Hope you found it helpful!
Great video! Tell me: would pairing the Spotlight SE with an Amaran 150c be just as good as the 300c? Any situations where it would lose out to a 300c?
The only difference would be output between the two models
Love this review! I picked one of these up over the holiday sale, and my 300dII is up for sale
Nice! The sale was really good!

Thanks! And yes, this is a no-brainer modifier to have in your kit in my opinion.

@@TylerEdwards haha that's one way of putting it!
Thanks mate, helpful vid!
Love how small the Spotlight SE is. Great video Tyler!
Thanks Josh! Ya it’s awesome. I love how lightweight it is.

Nice! The spotlight is super useful! Thanks for dropping by dude!
Loved it. Gotta get my hands on one of those spotlights. Thanks, man 🙏
Do it! It’s an awesome modifier

Maybe on a V2 they can add gears and a knob of some sort for the focusing. Thanks for dropping by!
so to use with spotlight u recommend the 150c watt?
Really affordable modifier. Great video

Oh sick I was wondering if they had these for the amaran. Thanks!

Your cameos are vital to the operation

Would you use the 300C as a key light or would a bi color be better?
I'm not sure, if you can say anything about the Amaran 300c and photography: Are there any banding / flicker effects in pictures (mirrorless shooted)?
Nice video Tyler! Don you have any idea if the output generated on a 300c is differente in a SE and a regular Aputure Spotlight?
That’s a great question and I don’t know off the top of my head but I’ll do some research

I feel like I can get pretty sharp edges with it. I’ve mostly used it with a gobo for texture and usually defocus it anyways.
Great video thanks, that PC chair looks great is it a Herman Miller?
Sure is!
Great video as always.
Question for you though.

The 200d doesn't push more than the 300c. Both bare bulb, 1 meter, and 5,600K.. You should be good.
Love the insight. Keep it unscripted too 👏🏻
This is the way. Thanks for dropping by 🤙
Can I put some colors in front or inside of it?
Would you mix the amaran and aputure lights? I'm looking at getting this light with a the LS 600d
I mix them all the time!
Would you say this is better than optical snoot or about the same
I just want to know how you got a black 300c lol.
Would it work with other bowens mount lights? Like the Molus G200?
Theoretically yes. Just depends if the Bowen’s mount is lined up exactly the same as Amaran
Thanks for not praising the window blinds gobo to high heaven, as I find it way too unrealistic. The foliage one however is pretty nice, just a random pattern that convinces most people to be natural.
does this spotlight amplify the light? or is only the large spotlight thing?
That’s one of the advantages of the Aputure spotlight
Can someone please measure the output with the 120w and 300W I have found some other brand's spotlight lenses have a max output.
Hi, what Modifier do you use for keylight in this video? octa 150?
Lightdome III
Great video Tyler, Thank you. Did you already own the regular spotlight? And if yes, do you intend to keep it/find yourself getting jobs in which you might use both spots? More a gear acquisition/management question for owner/operators. Thanks again!
Yup I’ve owned the spotlight for a few years now and I have no plans of retiring it. 👍
why won't it work with 600d?
600d is too powerful.
will melt it lol? what will happen@@TylerEdwards
@@dreamvision_media I don’t know. I haven’t tried it. I usually just follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. Ask aputute directly, they might have a better answer

it can cause led damage because of the heat and burn the color gels
