If Drifter would do a playable aliens run would he combine them all or would he do Sectoid, Viper, Muton and Andromedon all apart for a dedicated run. If he did that he could even let the patreons vote in what order.
hopefully Drifter would set some rules as to keep the powercreep balanced, since as we can imagine using only sectoids would be impossible, and only andromedons way too easy. maybe he could try "swapping" some tech research for alien troops unlock ? eg if you research plasma you get andromedons, research sparks you get sectopod, research predator armor you get mutons, and so on
@Alelip1000 I think it would be cool to try and emulate the pods that we (the player) can encouner at this point in the game I.e. initially we can only do captains and troopers, the sectoids roll around, then mechs, vipers, so on Another cool thing would be to obey the sitreps as much as possible. At 1:09:45, the reason why Andrey's aim went down was because you didn't have Banish selected beforehand. You were only aiming at the Assassin with his regular shot first, then when you did the free reload, you selected Banish with Banish having a small aim penalty if I remember correctly.
Zombies in the Chosen chamber is kinda funny. I like the idea that they somehow snuck in through the vents or something and the Warlock was like "Eh they can't hurt me, might as well keep them as decoration"
Honestly, I feel like with the story missions occurring in important locations for the aliens, even in the mists of a world wide zombie apocalypse, those locations would be zombie free. So I think I am going to take this challenge, but leave the story missions unchanged, and set the threat level to 20 at the games start. Make my strat be throwing zombies at the aliens I have no hope of killing.
If Pokemon has taught me anything, if anything is not 100% guaranteed, in only has a 50% chance of success. XCOM clearly understands this universal truth.
I'm going to be honest, I didn't expect to see Insane Frame comment on one of Drifter's videos. You too should play a game of XCOM 2 multiplayer sometime. I'm 90 percent sure that there are mods to get it to work again. I'd love to see something like that. Keep up the great work! Edit - I'm not entirely sure if Enemy Unknown ever had multiplayer cut out but even if it was I'd imagine it'd be much easier.
Nice to see a run that isn’t a LongWotC Solo Class! If you want another break from those, I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing you break into the Enemy Unknown/Enemy Within scene!
This was an amazing run to see, and i was so waiting to finally watch it go down. I think I'm going to do something similar on my own after seeing how this one shook out. im so glad to see this video released, and glad to see you back, Drifter!
Different and fun! Thanks Drifter, I enjoyed it! Each campaign takes on its own unique feel, and I'm always learning new things about the game. Thanks for that explanation of the lost lure, that was very helpful.
1:32:14 Funny thing that happened to me on this final mission before I made it to the avatar fight room, I hacked/Mind Controlled a Gate keeper and when the maps changed the gatekeeper was in the void basically still controllable and since Gate keepers fly/hover I was able to bring it all the way from the void into the fight to help me.
Fuck yes a new Drifter upload, let's rock and roll! Glad to see this one eventually got put on the RUclips. I was worried we'd never see it when 2024 came around.
In the video he states that the Sectopod can only attack once, but one of its unique abilities is actually that it absolutely CAN shoot its main armament twice in the same turn, and, iirc, it actually has up to THREE total actions, though I don't think all three are allowed to be attack actions. It usually seems to engage that delayed attack as its second attack action, which is probably its least effective ability, but it can just shoot its standard gun twice in a row if it wants to, and I've seen it do that before. Trying hacking one and see for yourself what it can do if you don't believe me.
Here we really see the inverse difficulty of the game at work, early on every mission is won by the skin of your teeth but once your soldiers start levelling up the game becomes much easier. It probably was much faster with the amount of extra exp they were getting per mission from the Lost kills.
@@Wicvho Yeah, they are super powerful. Also, as long as even one enemy is marked, you can completely ignore the lost, they will not attack you. The only thing to worry about is hitting your own people with it.
I was hoping to see the rare crit build Reaper on this run. Basic gist is superior laser sight, talon rounds, and the Soul Harvest passive at Captain rank (+5% crit for every kill made by the Reaper on the mission, maximum of +20%, Lost kills count) Shooting a flanked target with this build is a guaranteed critical if the Reaper has three kills, two if you have Inside Knowledge. That's +3, +4, or +5 damage per tier per shot. If the Reaper also gains Deadeye and his or her aim is high enough, you can land a guaranteed crit for *19-20 damage* using the plasma Shadow Lance! Provided you researched Improved Vector Rifles and Improved Plasma Weapons, that is. Now, it's not as good at shooting targets that are behind or don't use cover, you have to be in *ClOsE rAnGe* to get the crit chance to 100%, and you can't crit while using Banish, but it is by far my favorite way to play with Reapers.
The reason that ADVENT overwatch at 32:28 instead of shoot her to death was because evac zone. In their AI, the enemy that in evac zone vicinity, first enemy will have 100% (or 75%, can't remember exact percentage) chance to overwatch and the second will have 50% chance to overwatch. You can actually abuse this by dropping evac when you want to distract the enemy to not shoot you. Personally, I think it a little bit to gamey to use though but to each their own anyway.
good vid for halloween. idea: Can you beat X2WOTC in 100 attacks or less? kinda similar to the 100 nades video but it wouldn't need modding. :) good stuff as usual.
I don't think it's possible, you need to beat at least 15-20 missions to beat the game. That's like 7 attacks per mission and it can take that many on a single gatekeeper or sectopod.
Would Over watches and blade storm count? If so, this could be possible using Specialists, Reapers, Rangers and Templar's. Would be fun to see him being forced to not Alphastrike every time but falling back
@stephanwagner6189 that would be up to drifter to decide. To be honest I say 100 arbitrarily, more like "how few attacks does it take" might be a better way of doing it. Either way could be a fun watch
Hmm you could do any one specific action per mission run (this excludes stuff like items and movement). You can do with the idea however you think the rest of the rules would be and any caveats.
1:09:45 banish has an aim penalty but the quick target preview shows the chance for a standard shot not banish. The reload has nothing to do with it. Edit: Also each subsequent banish shot has a lower chance to hit after the first(I think this is still in the vanilla version but that could be wrong) Edit 2: You should use the luck meter mod. I’ve found that it’s such a fun way of seeing just how unlucky you are. Are you really that unlucky, or are you doing better than you think? It often feels bad but the luck meter says you’re not allowed to complain. If you do use it I recommend activating the 350 point calculation instead of the default 100, and also turn on the enemy luck meter and the shot breakdown. You’ll need Mod Config Menu for that.
