Any idea what the name of the song this violinist is playing when the troubled boy first watches him play, then goes and gets himself a violin? Ive never heard such a beautiful song. Love to know the name of that tune he was playing with the orchestra behind him.

Another piece is that played right at the beginning of the film. It is Tchaikovsky: String quartet in D, opus 11, 2nd movement. A lovely, slightly "eastern" theme. In the present excerpt we hardly hear any of it, though. But there are recordings of it on youtube, e.g by the Emerson String Quartet.
