They dont take in imgs... waste of money
This channel is not only for IMGs. It is for all applicants!
why they have 99% american graduates ? Holistic, I think not. please interview IMG friendly program directors
Gotta put up a cover and diversity inclusion crap for hiding their biases
They actually do. That is how they still match 1-2 IMGs a year. Remember that this is Harvard, the best IM program in the country and most top-notch American students are competing for this spot. Most IMGs don't have good clinical experiences and strong LORs from such experiences that American students have. It is not only about having a high score.
@@MalkeAsaadhow much access does an IMG have to quality American clinical experiences.
U think an IMG would be better than a harvard medical school graduate ?
@@joshuaemina8224 You are right, but also the system has to favor somehow their students. They have to fill rotation spots for their students before offering it to international students. American students are in almost 500k debt at the end of their school while most IMGs study medicine for free. Also some IMGs make it in programs like MGH and Hopkins through research and other ways to show their impressive qualities.
The socioeconomic disparity point is nonsense.
1- we have to pay thousands for the match itself UW is not going to hurt
2- USCE costs thousands in tuition and travel fees etc.
I have seen pre-residency USCE opportunities costing $100K+
3- getting an unpaid research position will cost thousands too in housing, transportation, etc.
4- Where I live, even volunteering costs money sometimes. If you need to get into red crescent or red cross, you will have to bribe your way there..
So why is it okay to value USCE, research, and other activities strongly while devaluing a reasonably more objective and less costly metric?
I think a lot of doors are just shut for above average IMGs, you need to be exceptional to even have a say in the match or have connections and a lot of USCE research etc
