This video is brought to you by Polaroid.
holy cow this is AMAZING!!! I had no idea this was even in the works so what a cool video to start my day with!!! I may have to jump on the deal at BFC!!! Thanks Ben!!
Got mine yesterday, and took my first photos on a "expired" pack of i-Type B&W film produced in January 2018... (got forgotten in the fridge, along with 2 packs from 2019 and 2021... oops lol) the pictures came out freaking amazingly sharp, perfectly exposed, and just plain beautiful in terms of detail. I'm surprised the film has held up so well despite being nearly 6 years old... But yes, I'm in love with my I-2, (don't worry my sweet SX-70 Sonar, I still love you just the same). 😄
Boyyyyy howdy I am so excited about this! I was on vacation when the launch happened so I may have missed that first 50 folks deal but we should all rest assured my gal was plenty sour with me for spending MORE money on another camera, let alone one that dragged my attention away from living in the moment on the beach (which was also photographed heavily using the OneStep+!) and into the BFC ordering forms! A happy Brooklyn-based layover on the way home commences in 12 hours! See y’all soon!
Great video! Looking forward to visiting your store in Brooklyn.
I just bought one with 10 extra packs of film! Can't wait to get started!!!
Beautiful! It’s always been my dream to design Polaroid cameras
Nice review, Ben. Very excited about this camera. I have and really liked the "Spectra". The images that you shown were excellent. However, maybe because it is on video to internet some didn't look sharp(?) Looks like a fun camera to play with.
WOOOOOOOP!!!!! Great review and your images are 🥵
Thank you GW!!!
I love this and am *in* love with this.
You rush through the sample images from the camera, but they are 🔥🔥🔥. Would love to hear more about your process and what it was like setting up and taking those shots.
Put a glass lens on it, preferably a Schneider, Zeiss or Leica and add Manual focus, and you have a deal !
For 700€? No way
Wow, multiple features, and informative video, Thanks Ben! Question; is there a socket for a remote cable? (A nice feature for Stereographic or 3D syncing with two cameras)
The app can work as an external remote shutter!
definitely a little apprehensive... plastic lens and no manual focus is kind of surprising... I could forgive the plastic lens if there was manual focusing, but I am still wondering if just saving up for a 680/690 would be the better choice 😔 or just using my sx-70 sonar with an ND filter for 600 film...
still, very tempting regardless; I love playing with new tech, just kinda bummed at that price tag for a plastic lens
I too want the i-2, who knew?
I love the Pronto-esque design of the I-2! Does the viewfinder have a rangefinder patch, or is it more for lining up shots, like in classic box-type Polaroids?
The VF is more for composition! The focus feedback provided in the VF includes the precise focus point that the AF hit, so ostensibly a rangefinder focusing functionality.
Niceeeeee
Hey Ben, another beautiful video. Can the i2 focus through glass or will the lidar struggle with this? Not that i would use this facility regularly!! 😂
This also crossed my brain today, inquiring minds want to know!
Still waiting for an answer 😭
Hi, can confirm it will focus through clean, clear glass. Just have to pay attention to the distance reported in the viewfinder. If it shows less than 0.4m it's catching the glass or something on it.
Thanks a lot mate 🎉
Hi Ben, the camera can be used with i-Type and 600 film. Is the use of SX70 film also possible? If so, does the camera detect the different iso itself or does the user have to enter this in the camera settings?
I just saw the answer in the video on your other channel in.an.instant. Thanks for the interesting review.
Awesome that the 3 kinds of film can be used !!! But, doesn’t the battery pack on SX-70 and 600 films interfere or hurt the electronics of this new gem ?
My guess would be no? The Now and Now+ are capable of taking 600 film with no issues, so I'd assume the same would hold for this
Not sure why it would and I doubt they'd advertise it as taking 600 and SX-70 if it did. The camera has an internal battery so I doubt it has electrical terminals to connect to the cartridge batteries.
I think most of the over exposures are directly related to the films ASA ratings. They are not accurate in sensitivity.
Amazing!
Is the lens plastic or glass ?
Polycarbonate
Plastic
Ok! Who wants to buy my refurbished sx70 alpha and sonar! I want this one!
You will regret it when the battery on this goes
@@Markybug-Keira-Cody by that time some young innovative person will have figured out how to replace them.
Wow
I like the way the flash works on the Polaroid one-step works how does the flash work on this could it auto select
Does it have a built-in light meter or will I need one
So….. are the lens on this bad boy glass or not?
It is polycarbonate, not glass, but still outperforms the vintage glass optical design of the SX-70.
I-2 lens: plastic, min focusing distance 40 cm, no manual focus, pincushion distortion.
SX-70/SLR 680/690 lens: four-element glass, min focusing distance 26 cm, manual focus or auto on models with Sonar, no distortion.
How exactly does this plastic outperform the vintage glass lens? 😂 Polaroid website can’t even decide whether it’s one three-element lens or a combination of three lenses 😅
Is it possible to turn the flash on in long exposures?
Have never tried this, but it should be possible in manual mode!
Thanks! The only thing about the câmera that could be better is the shutter speed. Otherwise, everything's perfect! @@brooklynfilmcamera
Keep it for $599 and $2 per snap.
Nice design, but I hope this signals a coming improvement of the film quality and performance that's been sorely needed for years. Otherwise I can't justify buying a new camera and paying double the price for film compared to Instax Square.
if you weren't already longing for a Polaroid camera with the ability to manually control exposure, this camera isn't for you. That's okay!
The film will never be better than what is at just now, ie average
@@AnchorTH Manual control is fine, but it means much less with unreliable film. If the base product can't justify its cost, how could a high-end product dependent on it?
Congrats, Polaroid, on eliminating what made Polaroids great; simplicity, sharpness without micromanaging settings and ease of use to anyone with fingers and eyeballs, lol.
But thank you, BFC, for a very well done video and saving me a lot of money. 😊
Boy oh boy, you can really tell our host ain’t all the way jazzed about this one either. They went so far with the engineering and stopped just short of making something that would solve the problems that MiNT had fixed already. Batteries that last, manual focus, shutter speeds in higher ranges…
This is definitely b4b
600 dolars for a plastic lens ?! i love polaroid, but its a BIG NO
yeah that's super disappointing honestly...
