omg a video on my childhood favorite rts, i loved making massive swarms of amphibious gunships in 3x economy mode multiplayer because 3x gunships were completely broken the engine is so good it can support a absolute ton of units before lagging making multiplayer so fun

The Battletech mod for this game is really cool. For the base game - the AI in this game - both for units they build and targets they attack - seems to be pretty random. Which is more fun than a stale, steady trickle of the same old units, but it's groan-worthy when it sends a fat squad of interceptors when you have precisely zero air units and have always had precisely zero air units.
Yeah that randomness ends up performing well, keeps you on your toes, but also the fact they will happily take impossible fights keeps it easy in the supreme commander vein. Simple and effective!
i swear, Civil War mod for this game its a most mindblowing rts stuff for last 10 years from what i see in genre. Its like wtf are this, why THIS is a mod for niche game and not a AAA rts??11
@@MD-yd8lhI assume it's because Rusted Warfare by it's nature as a simple game is far easier to mod as it only uses sprites for graphics and already has youtube tutorials documenting how to install or create mods.
Rusted Warfare has great performance (it runs very well even on mobile), and it has a ton of options for modders. It's also almost bug-free and its multiplayer works reasonably well.
@@lechking941 Another benefit of that is it’s makes it easier to mod. No need of making high-poly 3D model, just some 2D sprites and ini code and you have a mod.

OffyD having Fun? What a wild thing to see! Next thing you know, he won't be ranting about economic structures and attempting to turn the world towards one particular structure!
TBH, no "units on a map" strategy game should have stunning graphics: You want clear, high contrast, recognizable icons for all the gameplay elements. Everything else is distracting visual clutter. 90s graphics are more than sufficient for that. 3D-rendered chess games were all the rage for novelty at one time, but the chess engines that actually get used by serious chess players are super-barebones graphically, you don't need 3D to distinguish between a king and a pawn.
Agree. IMO, some games get too flashy that they turn into distractions for the player. Plus, in RTS, I’d be too busy micromanaging a bazillion units to even zoom in and appreciate the graphics. As long as it’s not an abomination graphic-wise, I’ll play it 👍
I think the AI is designed to not use its full economy to avoid performance issues when you have multiple AI players fighting on a mobile device. It's not that they don't have enough buildings (they will build a lot of factories if there's enough places to expand to), it's that they aren't using their factories 100% of the time.
That would explain it. I wonder if they should have added the option to disable that, since I'd love to see what happened if the AI just unleashed everything. I noticed it also doesn't build many fabricators, so if it would do that also, perhaps the dream of managing to get rusted warfare to lag could be achieved!
@@OffyDGG I tried to force AI into building more units in my mod, but that's not without issues. Sometimes AIs build a lot of land units on an island, and sometimes they do not order their big army to attack (possibly because they are not designed to handle large armies).
I love this game, and the graphics play to its advantage, I never hate lag issues even with thousands of units on a massively oversized map XD just a goot rts
I wonder why he would only have proper fog of war for the final stage and skirmishes. If he went through the trouble of coding it, why couldn't it just be there in every stage?
Its meant to be extremely moddable Its very optimised, you can literally have thousands of units fighting simultaneously without lag in multiplayer It also runs on mobile
cheapet but also far impressive with the modding scene to a point sometimes the mods feel like their own games or even some have modified the entire apps and make their own version of rw apps to completely overhaul the games
For sure, it's just sc is what I am familiar with, and feels more well known. A bit like dark souls taking all the credit for stuff actually pioneered in demon souls I guess.
The impossible ai is just basically cheating really hard (it gets over 4x money that it’s supposed to) and has increased building buildup Edit: only way to win against impossible Ai is to rush it immediately or camp behind lava or water with T3 buildings and build up
Odd. Ive never looked up a video for this game, even though I've played it quite a lot, and yet heres a video for it in my recommended on the Home page. I remember back when this game was purely a mobile game several years ago, as well as when they started dabbling into modding stuff. The engine the game uses is unironically one of the best ive ever seen for such a small game, taking thousands of units on screen before the game begins lagging, and with there being no definite unit limit for the base game, as well as most mods, things cab spiral into quite the insane level really quickly. The only thing I can say against it is that the AI isn't really that intelligent. Ive had several games where the AI, on the hardest difficulty no less, sends small waves of units against my defenses instead of overwhelming them in a massive wave.
The game had a proper release and then 5+ years of bug squashing and mod work. It's more ready to be played now than ever before. If the game is finished and the bugs fixed, you don't need the dev to hang around to be able to enjoy it.
