It's really beautiful you are taking the time to share this craft with people for free! I know it must be a lot of work to film. I'm so glad you like it, ice dyeing is one of my favorite techniques! Most dye powders are mixed from a variety of dye colors, and ice dyeing allows those component colors to split out of the dye color. Those color splits and the dye movement that happens with ice dyeing are some of my favorite things about it. 😀

I was trying to match a portion of a panel I was using, so I sent them a link to a photo of the panel and asked "what dye do I want to match this area? Navy? Teal? Something else?" You are right - the yellow must be coming from the red. I've used chamois on ice dye and the split was subdued, very soft. Thanks for the video, I really enjoy your channel.

    • @FunEndeavors
      @FunEndeavors  3 года назад

      Thank you - I appreciate you watching! That's good to know - I bought the chamois to use as a neutral, but I don't remember if I've ever used it for ice dyeing before. I overlook the Sunrise Red because it is more of an orange red. I find myself always reaching for Fire Red or another similar red. I think the yellow that it split on this shirt looks really good though with the darker colors.

    Side note, I just bought these spoons and a sugar writer. I haven’t tried them yet because I’ve been doing a lot of liquid dye. The friends on FB say the tools work best when the dye is mixed with soda ash... I watch all of your commercials in their entirety. I hope that’s helps a little. 😉

    • @FunEndeavors
      @FunEndeavors  3 года назад +1

      I agree - I think that they would work great for HWI where you mix the dye with soda ash. They were OK, but since the dye is so fine it stuck to the culinary spoon too much to flow smoothly. I feel like the soda ash would help break that up and make it work really well.

    • @BelladonnaDyesCo
      @BelladonnaDyesCo 3 года назад +1

      @@FunEndeavors agreed. I’m not able to try HWI until our weather warms up and can go outside. I dye in someone else’s sun porch during the week and dyeing in her bathtub is not an option. Until I know what I’m doing I fear it could be rather messy. 😬
