Sweden can't join the war. Nobody in Nato can. Joining the war would mean that the whole Nato goes to war with Russia. Also, Sweden do not need to send military aid to Ukraine, but we still choose to do that. People just like to complain. Something IS better than nothing.

A funny interview i read about a swedish military official went something like this. "Why are we preparing for an attack from the east but not the west?" "Well, it is possible the soviets may attack from the West, but i dont see how."

As a Pole, I am thrilled that both Sweden and Finland have joined NATO. Having these two great nations as close allies greatly contributes to our safety, especially in maritime terms. Many Poles, me included, look up to our northern neighbors, knowing how successful they have been in creating modern, civil societies and excellent institutions. In the last 34 years following the fall of comunism, my country has undergone many positive changes, becoming more prosperous, better-educated, more open-minded and stable. While still remaining a substantially poorer cousin in the European family, I do believe we can be considered a reliable and useful ally for Sweden and Finland.
We are most excited to have you as close allies as well. It certainly was that way for most of our history with a short period of disturbance which was just a black chapter in our history. I kept reading about Ukraine running out of weapons and ammo. Sweden to the rescue. As a half Swede, I'm glad Sweden is stepping up like this. As the narrator said, Sweden is going to make other countries look bad if those countries contribute much less than Sweden. So this could lead to many counties contributing more because they don't want the newest member of NATO to make them look bad. If this causes other countries to contribute more then this could all end up being huge for Ukraine and could help to ensure Russia's defeat.
Or more countries from both sides will get involved thus creating more chaos and a possible third world war. Can you imagine if China got involved and the USA on the ground in Europe? Complete devastation and chaos. I don’t know what the right answer is but I think countries should be careful jumping on the bandwagon. Just saying.

Ukrainian IFV driver once told that the problem with Swedish CV90 is that Russians are so afraid of it, that they have placed reward on CV90’s, and immediately when seeing one, they send couple T-90 tanks and ATGM troops trying to destroy it 😄 Here in Finland we have always appreciated the Swedish incredibly advanced high-tech weaponry, we have bought many of those systems, from torpedos and other naval assets to CV90’s, NLAWS, anti-air systems like Robotsystem 70 in our ASRAD-R, etc. The level of technological sophistication and performance of the weapons of our Nordic brothers is truly exemplary.
In the year 1240 Swedes also arrived to Ladoga Lake to beat a shit our of Russians and they had incredibly advanced weapons and al other war "bells and whistles". Russians had spears, axes and swords. No fancy body armor. How did it end? Eh, Swedes? Remember? All Swedish crusaders with their horses and fancy war trinkets ended up on Ladoga Lake bottom... Technology does not win wars, people do. Spirited people.

Im from Sweden. I myself opened up my home to Ukrainian refugees. The first 1,5 years I've had 6 refugees in my home but not all 6 in the same time. One of them were a mom in her 9 month pregnace. She gave birth in our towns hospital and wops we were +1 in my home. That child had some problem with her spine she screamed 24/7. She mother were so traumitized so one day she burned half of my kitchen down Shen she were trying to took normal food. Only happens becouse of the situation. Wouldent happen at home in a normal environment. Nothing were planned from the start. Some random neighbor called me in the middle of the night.. "hi! A high pregnant women and her daughter are coming from Urkaine to our neighbor this night. Can you pls spare a room? There were no other. Choice then yes. All of this said.. it was ALLLL worth it. Would do it again if I had to. No one should be in this situation they are in. No one.

What shocked me as a swed was that we gave direct military support/weapons first couple weeks of the invasion - before we even announced the desire to join NATO, that was very surprising that we didn't want to join first...
Not only that because I bet a lot of the neighbouring countries are going to be pumping a lot more money into their military programmes after the Wars finished (for better or worse).

According to a survey, swedes are the most positive to helping Ukraine continue fighting. Except for the minority of people who can be seen as the equivalent of the MAGA crowd in the US, Sweden stands as one for Ukraine against the Russians.
As a Swede it's a relief to see my country not take this war lightly. Ukraine has to win! And I bow in respect to the people of Ukraine, for their bravery in this dark time, standing up to Putin and giving him the hell he deserves.

A Swede here, when we decided to send 50 CV90 which was quite early in the war I understood we where comitted. Many spoke about Archer systems but we didn't have many of those. But 50 CV90 and training. Thousands of Ukranians have been trained in Sweden. Many European countries have stepped up. Putin though he could use the gas as a weapon and freeze Germany and those countries out. He was mistaken and his days are counted.
Yeah, as a german I am still pretty pissed about that... That was clearly an act of terror. Imagine the Taliban or Isis attacking european infrastructure in Winter and then claiming they want to freeze us into submission... Don't negotiate with terrorists!

You and the swedes helped us return to society in the nineties, when the soviet occupation ended, and we are forever grateful for that. You should be proud of your own country too, it is likely because we know we have a solid wall of Finnish brothers to chase away Putin if he came for us that our government felt they could take the "calculated risk" to send things we might need ourselves.
How wonderful, thank you from the UK, we must all do everything we can to support our friends and allies. In my town there are people who drive to Ukraine with full lorry loads regularly and they bring back details of specific items needed which is emailed out. People give as much as they can afford and every donation helps.
It’s the same here in Sweden. I live in a rather small town but we have still sent several lorries filled to the brim with everything from medical equipment to clothes to Ukraine 🇺🇦
This is a great help, especially the 155mm shells! This is a significant military aid package, those APC/AFV will save lives and the two early warning aircraft are a phenomenal asset to Ukraine. Putin wanted to intimidate Sweden, but he instead emboldened the Swedes to join NATO, which was the very thing he tried to scare them from doing! History shows that Putin's 3 Day Special Military Operation has been the country's most catastrophic mistake with truly devastating consequences for the Russian military and treasury! Russia has had its supposed military might obliterated by Ukraine as the whole world looked on! Their healthy foreign military sales programmes died along side their military personnel. Sweden, like Ukraine is a country focussed on the removal of Russian military forces from Ukrainian territory, and the military aid support that Sweden gives to Ukraine will help to see this through to completion. Those over a certain age are well aware of the constant threat of the Soviet Union. Those who grew up then are not that easily scared. Not because the treat isn't real. When you grow up with it with a much larger and stronger foe where the whole nation had a national project of defending basically everything on its own with the *hope* of some kind of aid from USA. The men would have gone through military service and be aware of the dangers that loom. Including nuclear, biological and chemical warfare.
Sweden sent a lot of volunteers to Finland for the Winter War and The Continuation War against Stalin's USSR too! Sweden does not tolerate bullies or megalomaniacs - Putin is both. As an Australian with friends all over the world, even in Russia, I know of no-one who wants the war in Ukraine. I have not heard from my friends in Ukraine for a long time and I hope they not only survive but kick Putin's sorry ass!

Sweden has historically had a very competent defence industry. Having a thousand mile land border with the soviet Union for most of the 20th century AND spending WWII between Nazi occupied Norway and Soviet occupied Finland kind of makes you think about national defence. Like.... a LOT.
The way i have always seen sweden as a finn is like our rich blond older brother who doesn't need that big of an army because they can just sell us their best and not have to fear russia. Australia here. Making sure Ukraine comes through is of world importance. Dictators the world over, not just Europe need to be given a "F#@k around and find out" lesson. The UN is not perfect but it's the best we have at the moment, and it needs teeth, very big teeth.
The UN? What the heck will the UN do? At most they will help refugees but as far as teeth? The UN has nothing because Russia ignores them, doesn't care, and is written in the foundation of the UN (simplistic description). Russia could care less about what the UN demands regarding Ukraine. @@CathrineMacNiel Everything. The west will keep pumping tax money into Ukraine for a lost cause, just to sabotage Russia even further. Russia's economy however is not faltering, as Russia endured 8 years of shelling rather than starting the military operation in 2014. While western states like Germany are undergoing active de-industrialization and have governments which are actively sabotaging the country (E.g Germany deactivating nuclear plants, instead wanting to rely on fossil and "green" methods") the Russian economy is not suffering much.
The Russians (in any of its forms across many different time periods), have always been the big bad in swedish culture. It has been the great scare that every boy is made aware of, since centuries before the United States even existed. Kinda bonkers when thinking about it like that. (We are talking a long list of about 40+ or so wars fought between us, tracing back to the 1100s!)
War sucks. Most people would agree. But the fact that the "strategy" to win the war at this point is "just kill at least 100,000 of them each year until they can't fight anymore" really hits home how awful this situation is. As a Pole, I am thrilled that both Sweden and Finland have joined NATO. Having these two great nations as close allies greatly contributes to our safety, especially in maritime terms. Many Poles, me included, look up to our northern neighbors, knowing how successful they have been in creating modern, civil societies and excellent institutions. In the last 34 years following the fall of comunism, my country has undergone many positive changes, becoming more prosperous, better-educated, more open-minded and stable. While still remaining a substantially poorer cousin in the European family, I do believe we can be considered a reliable and useful ally for Sweden and Finland.
We are most excited to have you as close allies as well. It certainly was that way for most of our history with a short period of disturbance which was just a black chapter in our history. Very sorry about that. 💔We will always support Poland officially and inoffically when needed. Forever grateful for your invaluable help with in 2018 with putting out fires. Heroes ❤

So basically Sweden, my mother's country, hates Russia and is ready to do anything it can to help Ukraine. Good news! Canada is glad to have you as an ally! I kept reading about Ukraine running out of weapons and ammo. Sweden to the rescue. As a half Swede, I'm glad Sweden is stepping up like this. As the narrator said, Sweden is going to make other countries look bad if those countries contribute much less than Sweden. So this could lead to many counties contributing more because they don't want the newest member of NATO to make them look bad. If this causes other countries to contribute more then this could all end up being huge for Ukraine and could help to ensure Russia's defeat.
Or more countries from both sides will get involved thus creating more chaos and a possible third world war. Can you imagine if China got involved and the USA on the ground in Europe? Complete devastation and chaos. I don’t know what the right answer is but I think countries should be careful jumping on the bandwagon. Just saying.

I think this is a result from after russia went to war with our neighbour/brothers in Finland. We took loads of finnish refugees, assisted them in the war and Finland (the tough bastards) managed to push the russians off.

Ukrainian IFV driver once told that the problem with Swedish CV90 is that Russians are so afraid of it, that they have placed reward on CV90’s, and immediately when seeing one, they send couple T-90 tanks and ATGM troops trying to destroy it 😄 Here in Finland we have always appreciated the Swedish incredibly advanced high-tech weaponry, we have bought many of those systems, from torpedos and other naval assets to CV90’s, NLAWS, anti-air systems like Robotsystem 70 in our ASRAD-R, etc. The level of technological sophistication and performance of the weapons of our Nordic brothers is truly exemplary.
In the year 1240 Swedes also arrived to Ladoga Lake to beat a shit our of Russians and they had incredibly advanced weapons and al other war "bells and whistles". Russians had spears, axes and swords. No fancy body armor. How did it end? Eh, Swedes? Remember? All Swedish crusaders with their horses and fancy war trinkets ended up on Ladoga Lake bottom... Technology does not win wars, people do. Spirited people.

So most likely, the Novgorodian sources have embellished the story, just like the Spanish Christian sources embellished the story of Pelagius winning over the Muslims in the year 722.

Im from Sweden. I myself opened up my home to Ukrainian refugees. The first 1,5 years I've had 6 refugees in my home but not all 6 in the same time. One of them were a mom in her 9 month pregnace. She gave birth in our towns hospital and wops we were +1 in my home. That child had some problem with her spine she screamed 24/7. She mother were so traumitized so one day she burned half of my kitchen down Shen she were trying to took normal food. Only happens becouse of the situation. Wouldent happen at home in a normal environment.
Nothing were planned from the start. Some random neighbor called me in the middle of the night.. "hi! A high pregnant women and her daughter are coming from Urkaine to our neighbor this night. Can you pls spare a room? There were no other. Choice then yes.
All of this said.. it was ALLLL worth it. Would do it again if I had to. No one should be in this situation they are in. No one.

What shocked me as a swed was that we gave direct military support/weapons first couple weeks of the invasion - before we even announced the desire to join NATO, that was very surprising that we didn't want to join first...

I think what Sweden is doing to help Ukraine is absolutely amazing. They are stepping up where many others are afraid to go. A Swede here, when we decided to send 50 CV90 which was quite early in the war I understood we where comitted. Many spoke about Archer systems but we didn't have many of those. But 50 CV90 and training. Thousands of Ukranians have been trained in Sweden.

How wonderful, thank you from the UK, we must all do everything we can to support our friends and allies. In my town there are people who drive to Ukraine with full lorry loads regularly and they bring back details of specific items needed which is emailed out. People give as much as they can afford and every donation helps.

This is a significant military aid package, those APC/AFV will save lives and the two early warning aircraft are a phenomenal asset to Ukraine.
Putin wanted to intimidate Sweden, but he instead emboldened the Swedes to join NATO, which was the very thing he tried to scare them from doing!
History shows that Putin's 3 Day Special Military Operation has been the country's most catastrophic mistake with truly devastating consequences for the Russian military and treasury!
Russia has had its supposed military might obliterated by Ukraine as the whole world looked on!
Their healthy foreign military sales programmes died along side their military personnel.
Sweden, like Ukraine is a country focussed on the removal of Russian military forces from Ukrainian territory, and the military aid support that Sweden gives to Ukraine will help to see this through to completion.

Those over a certain age are well aware of the constant threat of the Soviet Union.
Those who grew up then are not that easily scared.

When you grow up with it with a much larger and stronger foe where the whole nation had a national project of defending basically everything on its own with the *hope* of some kind of aid from USA.
The men would have gone through military service and be aware of the dangers that loom.

Sweden sent a lot of volunteers to Finland for the Winter War and The Continuation War against Stalin's USSR too! Sweden does not tolerate bullies or megalomaniacs - Putin is both. As an Australian with friends all over the world, even in Russia, I know of no-one who wants the war in Ukraine. I have not heard from my friends in Ukraine for a long time and I hope they not only survive but kick Putin's sorry ass!
Well, Finland were fighting the Russians, and as this video pointed out, Sweden has history with Russia. Also, lots of history, largely of the better kind, with Finland.

Sweden has historically had a very competent defence industry. Having a thousand mile land border with the soviet Union for most of the 20th century AND spending WWII between Nazi occupied Norway and Soviet occupied Finland kind of makes you think about national defence. Like.... a LOT.
One reason why NATO let us in, was not only our competent armed forces and tactical borders, but also because of our arms industries
The way i have always seen sweden as a finn is like our rich blond older brother who doesn't need that big of an army because they can just sell us their best and not have to fear russia. The rise of the religious right, and their capture of the US Supreme Court, is pushing the USA towards a semi-theocracy. Five parishes on the small island Klädesholmen in Bohuslän, Sweden, have since the beginning of the war, sent 10 trucks, with approximately 20 tons each of supplies to Ukraine. They call themselves Tjörn´s Help to Ukraine. With LOVE to all honest Ukrainians from Sweden!

Australia here. Making sure Ukraine comes through is of world importance. Dictators the world over, not just Europe need to be given a "F#@k around and find out" lesson. The UN is not perfect but it's the best we have at the moment, and it needs teeth, very big teeth.
The UN? What the heck will the UN do? At most they will help refugees but as far as teeth? The UN has nothing because Russia ignores them, doesn't care, and is written in the foundation of the UN (simplistic description). Russia could care less about what the UN demands regarding Ukraine. The UN will surely never be sending troops to Ukraine to fight against Russia.
NATO is their only miliary "teeth" fear.

Everything. The west will keep pumping tax money into Ukraine for a lost cause, just to sabotage Russia even further. Russia's economy however is not faltering, as Russia endured 8 years of shelling rather than starting the military operation in 2014.
While western states like Germany are undergoing active de-industrialization and have governments which are actively sabotaging the country (E.g Germany deactivating nuclear plants, instead wanting to rely on fossil and "green" methods") the Russian economy is not suffering much.

The Russians (in any of its forms across many different time periods), have always been the big bad in swedish culture.
It has been the great scare that every boy is made aware of, since centuries before the United States even existed. Kinda bonkers when thinking about it like that.
(We are talking a long list of about 40+ or so wars fought between us, tracing back to the 1100s!)
I have worked with Military Aircraft for decades. The Swedes make some high-quality aircraft.

War sucks. Most people would agree. But the fact that the "strategy" to win the war at this point is "just kill at least 100,000 of them each year until they can't fight anymore" really hits home how awful this situation is. Especially when you know that the real reason the Russians are out there dying is for the sake of a handful of egomaniacal fools back in Moscow. It's just a full-on tragedy.
