This is a great vid showing the beginning of "Kaleidoscope" in the "Finale", which the cast and producers felt was some of the most complex choreography ever designed in any of the previous Edinburgh Tattoos. Coldstream Guards Drum Major Fitzgerald, shown here, was one of the 3 who brought Tattoo Producer Brig Allfrey's vision for the Finale to life. The success of this was entirely in doubt early on by many of his fellow Drum Majors (including me - seen 3rd file from right of screen marching on with RCMP - in red with Pipes & Drums). We felt it would be impossible, and yet he made it happen with Welsh Guards Principal Director of Music LCol Roberts and Scots Guards Band Sgt Major Furzey (both seen here). They pulled off a miracle in our view, and did it in 2-3 days of rehearsals on arrival in Edinburgh to be ready for 1st show. This video cuts off before the band plays the drum salute and into the slow march in Kaleidoscope, but my suggestion to the author would be to post the entirety of this to show it all. To many of us, we felt this was the climax of the show, and the Pipes & Drums LOVED marching on in the dark as seen here, and hearing the gasps of the crowd when the lights came up as we began to play with the Guards Band, marching into their ranks. Thank you for posting this great memory for many.
Hi Pipercopper, thanks for all the background information, its all very nice to know. Unfortunately I don't have any more footage than what I have uploaded here, as I was trying not to have my phone out for the entire performance, and I definitely didnt expect to have anyone asking me for more footage, as every second person in the audience had their phone out too I would think you could find it somewhere. Otherwise doesn't the BBC production include what you are looking for? Thanks for your kind words and sorry I can't help, and thanks for being part of the performance, it was the highlight of our UK trip.
All good. Not a problem and if I'd been you in the audience I would not have wanted to be videotaping either. Glad you enjoyed the show. We enjoyed performing it for a quarter million people daily for almost a month. And yes I'm getting the DVD so will have the memory of this portion on film.
See the reason I noted above. I imagine many of these are the result of cast members sharing and viewing because of our pride in getting this done. But if you have the full video from the same start point to the intro into "The Show Must Go On", you may see further success. It is one of the few videos showing a close up of this and if we saw the slow march inside "Kaleidoscope" until the halt, that would be wonderful. Thanks for posting.

Amazing, love the Edinburgh Tattoo.
Hey, great video! Thanks for sharing! Do you know the name of this march?
Is it kaleidoscope? Just going off pipercoppers comment below haha
What march is it that the massed bands and pipes and drums did at the start?
Not sure, I was just a humble spectator
Oh, alright.
That was Grand
Weird that this one so many more views than the others
Yes I noticed that.
