Ordered the SLA from James Porter. Simon Porter is a true Gentleman to deal with and provides top class service.
I love the Blue Glacier its a hefty price but a 2020 watch industry first, the grade of stainless steel in the case of this watch, Seiko’s “Ever-Brilliant Steel,” is more corrosion-resistant than in most luxury watches today and only usually used in the marine industry. Along with the GS movement the Glacier is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Its hard to justify 4 large for it but i'd have it in a heart beat if we were not in a bloody Pandemic! I settled for the 143 (grey) instead and i absolutely love it. Simon gave me a great deal at James Porter and Son in Glasgow. SPB 62 MAS whats not to love ... the only negative is its hard to pull on another Seiko !
Thanks for the review. Having been a luxury watch collector for over 20 years, I have been branching out to seiko prospex lately and been collecting them. I love the spb 143 and spb 147 and will be adding them shortly to the collection, especially after this review.
I have the sla017 and this gild version of the reinterpretation. Awesome. 👍
Picked up the spb147. Love it.
Hi! Im thinking about buying one, do you still have it? What do you think of this watch?
@Bruhecc I have it, great watch. Love the rich chocolate dial, especially in summer. However, I've bought a tudor black bay bronze and my spb147 gets far less wrist time these days so I'll most likely sell it in a few month. Was definitely a great purchase though, no regrets. 😀
Thanks for your reply! I’ll keep that in mind
Love my SPB143! But I also want to get the Spb147...Fantastic review!
Great images and comparisons between the 3 watches!!!
Ha ha, Simon's on the hard sell! A true gent and the best shop in the UK (or the Arcade) I've done business with. And (I'll quietly admit) I'm not Scottish, or in Scotland. Some people question the price of these SLA Seikos, but they're easily the match of Omega or Rolex. Grand Seiko's another level entirely. Will be interesting to see where Seiko go with the new steel in '21/22... New MM300, no PS/X logo, please.
Nice watches but just like to point out that on the close up shots the the dial paint on the SLA shows spillage onto the indices frame where as this is not the case on the two cheaper ones.
Got the sla043 and it's beautiful watch. It's only when you get one in your hand that you realise they are Truely special. As good as anything omega does at this price.
I’ll give you a pass on this one ☝️
Spb147 I meant
Yum. Really is nice lighting. Saw the SPB range at the GS boutique in London over summer and, as usual, lighting was too poor to show off the watches.
I'm a Sinn fan so I had to follow James Porter & Son. I have to say Seiko has been on it lately though!
Love these. Cheers for the review.
Thanks, great to see these side by side - but still difficult to pick which one! 😄
Beautifully designed and photographed video! Excellent!
Enjoying my 143... Awesome trio you got there...
Great vid, currently a toss up for me between the chocolate, grey and white 14oth editions on these. I'm assuming the signed crown is ONLY on the £4.5k model :(
Great shots on the intro!
Having trouble understanding the difference between the SLA043 and a Grand Seiko, though.
Chalk it up to my ignorance.
Hi Guys, I just found your channel and am instantly blown away by your style of review- Q&A conversation dialogue as opposed to a monologue review.
Keep it up guys. I enjoyed it and instantly subscribed
Cheers from USA 🇺🇸
Great review and closeup shots!
I would have loved to see outdoor wrists hots, but other than that we'll detailed!
Well done review. Camera work amazing. Great macros. 👌🏻
Fantastic pieces!
Rik highly recommend strapcode super -o bracelet for your seiko.
I want the SPD143 but with the rubber strap. Can you buy the strap separately anywhere? If so it’s not easy to find.
Spb147 I’ve just purchased , beautiful watch , have a doxa sub 200 and an oris diver 65 but think this one will get more wear time
The only think I dislike from the SLA043 is the fact lack of polishing on the indexes side
Anyone know where I can get the strap on the SLA? I'd love to put it on my SBDC101
Just subscribed 👍
Love the look but when he said the price I screamed JESUS! A Seiko for over $1500 is nuts, especially when the Chinese market is making the exact watches with sapphire, ceramic and the NH35 movement. I'm not one for knock offs or homages but damn Seiko is an "attainable" watch.
That's not an NH35
@@giansison1800 no one said it was.
you have no clue my friend....
@@arnonabuurs7297 Yes I do. I've been alive long enough to remember when Seiko was affordable.
@@daygon128 I remember when a Rolex Submariner was relatively affordable. Plus I could walk off the street and get one or two.
£4080!! You must be joking!
Would have been worth it if the watch was thinner and movement regulated, but in terms of the look and finishing it is far superior to any IWC , Bremont, Breitling or Omega for the money.
Seiko doesn´t use 904L steel!
£4000+ for a Seiko!
Why not
Nowt from scotland!
Does the SPB143 suit a 6 inch wrist?
yes but it will look big especially on the bracelet. Its also a heavy watch so keep that in mind. you can find various inmstagrammers with small wrists and the 143 to get an idea.
I have 6in wrist and i always prefer big dials (around 39-42mm). Theres a trick when you have a small wrist, bigger dials (as long as lug to lug fits well) tends to look good as long as the straps/bracelet tapers down. You have to try it yourself to believe.
Great vid, great watches but you both sound pissed up.
DON WATCHES. Rolex is a mass-produced crap brand. Seiko is way better. Legendary 62Mas. Winner!
