Star is a pre-release for a demo album that comes out in early December, Studio We: Recording #2. This is in addition to January's new Planet Nine mini. Surprisingly, this song isn't a Kanghyun venture, but a Yonghoon one! And that ad-lib of his wasn't the original one that was planned, he just did it off the cuff in one take and the producer liked it. What a king. They aren't doing music show promos for this unfortunately, but they do have an acoustic performance video planned to come out soon.
I wasn't sure if it was a Kanghyun or Yonghoon title track, as it kinda has a mix of both their styles. During the verse it definitely felt like a Yonghoon song, but the chorus felt more like a Kanghyun track. I think that's part of the fun of onewe is you never know what the song will come out like, depending one which member composed it, but you know it's gonna be great.
Yonghoon for me is absolutely the best vocalist in the industry right now. It’s not just that he can hit the notes many others can’t hit, but the depth and emotion he manages to exude is something truly special.
Yes Onewe this was my first comeback with them and they didn't disappoint they never do. Yonghoon(my bias) his voice is literally they greatest thing I've ever heard. Definitely by far my favorite kpop vocalist.
yonghoon and kanghyun are genius songwriters. their ballad tracks always make me tear up on first listen. i LOVE cya’s lowkey singing-rap style in this. and i love the moon they’re standing on in certain scenes.
Fun fact: This is actually Yonghoon's take on the space series that Kanghyun started. (I guess the more ballad approach is a giveaway..) He was gonna explore the beloved theme, n their producer happened to have an instrumental on hand, and so them and Cya built on top of that, and here comes this rock ballad as an extension to the Space series, but by Yonghoon and Cya.
I can always depend on you for promoting Onewe! Thanks :) For me, Star as a pre-release is like a teaser to hype us up for the upcoming cb on January. Although I wish they'd promote this even in just one music show because frankly, it's a loss to everyone not to be able to hear this masterpiece. The vocal line serving heavenly harmonies and soaring adlibs, along with rhythm line as the driving force, catapulting us all to the stars.. Dramatic sums up Onewe, and we're all here for it.
I'm not sure it will be in the mini album in January, but it will be in the DEMO album on Dec. 7. As for the coming DEMO album, it's the second one and songs except 'STAR' won't appear in music app such as Spotify or Apple Music, because those songs were not the final version or just sample tracks. But those songs bring the different emotions from the normal albums so I really like DEMO songs. Fun fact is that 'STAR' was not made by KangHyun, but made by the producer who made 'Eraser' in 'MEMORY:illusion album', produce with YongHoon and Cya. I think the reason why they won't promote this on music shows is because the schedule and also it's really difficult for YongHoon to sing this one. Also Cya had released a full album with 7 songs (one of songs was feat by ONEUS Seoho). It would be nice if you have chance to check them out on Cya's own SoundCloud. Star was co-written by their two usual company producers, Yonghoon, and CyA. One of their PDs was inspired to come up with the accompaniment and melody by the Space Series, most of which Kanghyun wrote, so he definitely has some influence over it, even in the other members' approach in working on the song! But the lyrics are very much Yonghoon. Just like Parting, they released Star as a single for their 2nd demo album, Studio We: Recording 2. Hence they're not going to promote it, which is kinda sad but I do hope we get at least special live clips! Onewe did also say to look forward to the mini album that's coming out in January and that'll have promotions for sure.

And then I kept stalking your page all day for this reaction bc you are probably my go-to reactor for ONEWE and you didn’t disappoint. Kinda sad this won’t be performed live soon but gosh this song is amazing! to be very honest. after 2-3 times listening to star, i start to love it! ((its not like i force myself.)) i only love the chorus part at first. but then everything is just perfect & magical!! especially the last part. yonghoon part chef kiss. and not to mention. dongmyeong got me this time. HIS EMOTION!! PLS 😭 I wanna fight whoever hurt him.
I don't know how they manage to do it, but they seem to always outdo themselves with each comeback! I still remember thinking how amazing "Parting" and "Book in Memory" were when they were first released, and now here's "Star" and I'm thinking it's my favourite song of theirs yet :')
When Kanghyun's teaser for this video (feat. his solo) came out, I just about keeled over. One of his best!! (you might want to keep your eye out for JYP's new soon-to-debut band, Xdinary Heroes, the teasers so far are genuine rock... and a little heavy too. Xdinary Heroes just released a performance teaser for one of the guitarists, and I feel I need to double down on this comment. oh my god. they could be so special. If their music is anything like these teasers, you should definitely get ready for them. They have the skill of ONEWE, but sound less.... pretty? (in a good way) no vocals yet, but I can't see them being the same style as ONEWE.

I've seen vidros of onewe's concert before covid and the audience is very into the concert singing with them an everything! but now in concerts halls yelling and signing is not possible 😔

I assumed it would be a Kanghyun number too, but I've read that it was written by Yonghoon, CyA, and a couple of other RBW writers. Apparently he's rubbing off on 'em... 😜 As good as he looks, and as long as he's had it now (it's been a good few weeks), I _still_ can't get used to Yonghoon with blond hair..! 😂 And yeah, so far the only Korean band I've seen live is Day6 (in London just before The Fun Started), and we were singing along the whole time (even while crying sometimes); it was awesome. 😜 I'm really hoping I get to see Rolling Quartz at some point in the not _too_ distant future... 🤞

@@KpopPrince I agree with this. If there isn't a large enough audience for the genre to justify spending loads of money on promotions, as a business it's not worth the risk. I imagine RBW's focus will be trying to grow Purple Kiss and Oneus, where their genre has already a large audience and therefore a higher chance of more profit (even though I like to believe RBW care about the music more than money haha). The quality of MV's like Zombie and Oneus Theatre/Blood Moon along with the promo periods for both groups seem to confirm their priorities. Also RBW have been spending quite a bit recently, they bought 70% of WM Entertainment (Oh My Girl, B1A4 & ONF) and they acquired another building for a supposed $14m. They seem to be intending to list on the stock market, which companies usually do because they want/need a cash injection (or maybe to cash in on their current success?). If I remember correctly, one of the Onewe guides said that the group themselves decided to take a more underground route in growing their fanbase rather than following the traditional K-Pop route. Basically what most bands would do in the west, start out by playing in small locations where the attendees are already fans of the genre and grow in popularity to the point where they can release MV's, obviously being in a K-Pop company meant that they were going to release MV's regardless, it's just the large scale audience isn't there yet to go big budget. One thing is for certain, reaction channels like this help make more people aware of their music and hopefully leads to more sales. Every now and then I go back to your reaction of their Latata cover just to share the joy of it. Keep it going Prince :)

"Star"is a serious contender to knock "Book In Memory" off my #1 spot of Onewe songs. Like, I loved EVERYTHING about this.
Still, I love to listen to every song of them. Their special video of their live performance was just amazing.
