    With the lesser number of USB-A ports on rear I/O it is making me reconsider going to Z890 tbh. Going from a Maximus Hero X Z370 which had just the right number to a TUF Z790 which meant had to buy a PCIe USB expansion card because not enough to cover peripherals & other USB-A connected devices, it would mean again that would need 2 PCIe USB expansion cards or one that has more than 4 ports on it (which means using up PCIe lanes that on a non-HEDT platform are going to be limited even with a Gen4 GPU & 4+ PCIe Gen4 NVMe drives) or not applicable if the m.2 slots share lanes with the PCIe 1x slots on the boards & the slots are disabled if a m.2 drive is installed in a certain socket. Seriously need to include USB-A 2.0 (minimum) slot cover breakout adaptors in the boxes with the motherboards. Could easily replace the either the HDMI or DP port/s on the rear I/O with additional USB-A ports as most people who will be buying these boards will not be using the iGPU at all (unless need to barebones test). Can understand leaving the HDMI/DP on the Prime or other low end boards for office use, but they are wasted real estate on the ROG boards at least even if the iGPU is left enabled in UEFI for QuickSync purposes.

    • @OliverQueen1974
      @OliverQueen1974 Месяц назад

      Obviously the facility is there for the additional USB ports on the rear I/O on the Prime/TUF boards considering the ROG boards have more.

    • @ASUSUSA

      You can easily add 10G via an add in card on boards if needed and all of our boards support TB5 via an add in card there is no need to add cost to boards putting a specification that the vast majority of users will not utilize. Do keep in mind this is the first time even the entry model is offering 40Gbps support native so the IO improvement is considerable compared to prior generations.

    Major point of criticism here:
    Why do you add m.2 slots to the boards if some of them bottleneck the main pcie slot to x8 mode?
    Sure, it wont matter on a 4090, but it might on a 5090.
    And the Hero can only do FOUR m.2 slots prior to bottlenecking the main pcie slot. Thats less than last generations Z790 Hero which does 5.

    • @ASUSUSA

    So they showed off the BTF as one of the few Z890 models at CES and Computex, but then all this time later when things are ready for release it's no where to be found and there's "no plans." What in the actual F! This is just beyond dumb and nonsensical. This surely takes a hit at trust in ASUS.
    Since it could be a long time before one gets released, if ever, I may just get a regular HERO and then swap it out if the BTF does arrive and sell the other one. Not ideal at all.

If you prefer to wait for the time stamps and watch the portions you may find relevant or listen to the audio in the background. You can also join our PCDIY community for posts on specific boards with targeted information.
      Overall, you will find independent of items like NPU Boost and our long withstanding Ai based naming convention which we have had one some features for a decade there is little "Ai" messaging. The most direct Ai based aspect would be the NPU Boost feature which enhances performance of the new NPU portion of Intel Core Series Ultra Processors. With that noted the goal of the stream is provide a deep dive into the range of series and models and understand their difference relative feature, function and spec. We also provide some foundational insights into platform specifications and feature set. If you have further questions let us know.
