One Class at a Time: Tracy Reece

Congrats to this month's winner of One Class at a Time: Tracy Reece.
Tracy Reece teaches kindergarten at Lawton Chiles Elementary in Gainesville.
“I really love this age. The 5 to 6-year-old age group” said Reece.
She described her teaching style as loving, firm, and consistent. She knows it takes this approach to be a good kindergarten teacher along with hands-on fun and lots of patience.
“There’s no instant gratification in kindergarten. Sometimes you go all year and it’s like am I making a difference? Am I getting through? Then the lightbulb comes on. It’s just magical” said Reece.
She has been at Chiles for 15 years.
She said it is the school’s community that keeps her coming back year after year. “If you need something, you can send an email or text through the schools, somebody will step up and help you. That goes for the parents too. I can reach out to parents, and they are like ‘what do you need, we got this.”
Principal, Cory Tomlinson, said Reece makes learning fun while also keeping high expectations. “Tracey Reece is what you think a kindergarten teacher is. She is one that makes her classroom engaging with her students and shows the love that any parent would want as a kindergarten teacher.”
