- This steel side-friction scenic railway coaster opened in 1928 and is one of the oldest coasters in the world that is still operating. Like most coasters of it's kind, this one uses a brakeman to control the speed of the train. This is especially necessary since the seats don't have any seat belts, lap bars or other type of restraints.
You can watch the on-ride POV video we posted to see what it's like to be on this historic coaster: • Montaña Suiza front se...
Parque de Atracciones Monte Igueldo is located in San Sebastián, Spain.

That breakman has the best job in the entire world.
What a gorgeous setting for a ride!
I think that that is something typical for the park :)
This has to be the most beautiful roller coaster I've ever seen :)
San Sebastian is one of my favourite Spanish cities.Well worth a visit!
This looks absolutely amazing, what a view! It's actually a bit faster than I thought it would be especially with no upstop wheels. Glorious.
Damn that's a beautiful location!
That's Donosti/San Sebastian
I had a vision of a roller coaster like this in my mind decades before I saw this. It was exactly like this one, taking advantage of the terrain and stone rooftops.
very well-made video, got a shot of the same riders leaving the station and returning, but had to shoot other trains to show all the curves and dips. a wonderful complement to the on-ride video, which I have been enjoying for years now
Absolutely stunning.
Awesome! And the sound of that thing, I really like it!
That's a great side-friction coaster
Nice! This is one of the weirdest but most fun rides I have ever been on. The rest of the park was a bit shabby, though.
This is my hometown rollercoaster. It's not as exciting as the new ones but it has its history. In Spain rollercoasters are called "montaña rusa" (russian mountain). This one's called "montaña suiza" (swiss mountain) as dictator Franco didn't like russians and Switzerland was the nearest neutral country during the war and they didn't want to offend him.
BTW sights to the city are gorgeous.
I want to be that brakeman!
Old school coasters are so cool.
I've never seen a.... concrete-framed coaster!!! Or is it? (I really hope I'm wrong!)
Looks gorgeous tho!
That shit looks scary as hell, I gotta go on it!
La seguridad brilla por su ausencia!!!
Sobre todo la del operario - maquinista!
Best job ever
This ride is cool as hell
If they ever gave us a scenic railway in a roller-coaster game, they have to use the dragon head 5 bench cars, they just fit with the type so well. I hope they would give us the option to build it out of either stone or wood though
Crazy nice ride.
how smooth is the ride?
Very smooth
Nice, I would love a go :)
I saw this on TV yesterday it was on great continental railway journeys on bbc 2
Now all roller coasters are referred to as trains, this one literally looks like an actual railroad, with rails in the same shape, not to mention a brakeman which operates the train like an SF cable car!
God this Is soooo beautiful :-)
eso si que es una "montaña suiza", me he montado hoy
That was totally awesome now why dont America have one of those? !
✨
Rode that four years ago!
That's cool
Nice.
Okay, how many people have fallen off this thing in the past 100 years? LOL
I guess this is a true terrain coaster!
The hills support the track. There are no supports. lol JK
Wonder if the brakeman ever hit his head in that tunnel.
I don't really think so, he might have ducked low to protect himself from hitting his head.
OKKK BUT WHERE ARE THE SEATBELTS....TF
lol like literally on the edge of the world
this is the lift hill I want to see closeeee huhuhuhuhu
i don't care if ur afraid of heights or not, the crap factor looking down the probably thousand foot cliff has to be extreme! :s
If this was in America someone would die and ppl will sue left and right 😅
Adios:bye
