What a beautiful hymn! My grandad had this at his funeral. Although it was a sad day, I had joy in my heart knowing he is now with the Lord. Praise Jesus! Hallelujah.
Beautiful. 20yrs out of high school and i woke up missing this song learnt during hymn Thursday ♥️ i like where it says - How He left His home of glory, for the cross on Calvary.
Thank you, Lord, for he has raised me up and gently led me back to the narrow way thank you for staying close Jesus thank you, Robin Mark, you have helped me so much with your music!
Yes indeed WILL SING THE WONDEROUS STORY. The world will know what Jesus did for me. How he healed me a cripple after being bed-ridden for years, carried up stairs for years and pushed around in a wheel chair for years. When the Specialists told, me I would never be able to work again, never be able to study again, and never be able to WALK AGAIN. Jesus healed me and GAVE ME A VOICE TO SING. HE healed me ..... Praise his Holy name. I am John the Voice of the World.
WOW amazing story. Now if only Jesus cared to help the remaining millions of poor and sick across the world. Wow how lucky and special you are to have been penetrated by the lord.
Twenty-one-year-old Peter Bilhorn approached Pastor Francis Rowley one Sunday night after the evening service. The year was 1886; the place was North Adams, Massachusetts. Young Bilhorn had been converted the previous year, and already he was using his musical talents for the Lord. "Why don't you write a hymn for me to set to music?" he asked Pastor Rowley. Rowley's reeponse was this gospel song, which originally began "Can't you sing the wondrous story?" For Bilhorn, who was a singer as well as a pianist and organist, it was an ideal personal testimony. As an unconverted teenager, he had started his music career singing in Chicago taverns. He understood the line "I was lost but Jesus found me--found the sheep that went astray." Bilhorn went on singing the wondrous story the rest of his life, writing two thousand songs, designing a portable folding organ for evangelistic use, assisting evangelists like Billy Sunday, and ministering around the world with Christian music. I will sing the wondrous story Of the Christ who died for me How He left the realms of glory For the cross of Calvary Chorus: Yes, I'll sing the wondrous story Of the Christ who died for me Sing it with the saints in glory Gathered by the crystal sea I was lost, but Jesus found me Found the sheep that went astray. Raised me up and gently led me Back into the narrow way He will keep me 'til the river Rolls its waters at my feet. Then at last He'll bring me over Saved by grace and victory Sharmini Satgunam !

ELOHIM bless you KingMojjo for this video, keep steadfast and strong upon HIS narrow path always.
If your faith is only a story and Christ a set of cliches and not a reality then it is not faith at all and borders upon a myth. Christ lives and dies and rises again as more than another story. That's why I dont warm to hymns like this.
Some days i need to be reminded: " I WAS LOST but Jesus found me"
This is the best tune for this hymn no doubt

Thank you for posting the background to this wonderful hymn. I enjoyed reading it.
Peter Bilhorn wrote a tune for this great hymn but not the one being sung here. This tune is called Hyfrydol and was composed by Rowland Prichard.
