I've never played a string instrument in my life. I bought a ukulele a few weeks ago so I can learn to play this song for when I propose to my partner! I've almost got all the chord progressions down and the strumming...I'm slowly trying to incorporate the singing into it but it is proving to me more complicated to do both at the same time than I initially expected! Cavetown got me through an incredibly dark part of my life where i was having terrible thoughts. music has always been a coping mechanism for me because my dad was in a band until i was 3 years old and then we lived in a recording studio when him and my mom divorced. the first time i listened to this song was in a dark part of my life when i didnt really have any friends at all and i couldnt stop crying. 8 months later and i still cry when i listen to this song and so i wanted to make an edit like Cavetown did but with me playing it and the edit being me hugging all of my friends that i have made since that day. thank you for this tutorial i dont think i wouldve learned the song any other way
I never knew that one chord was an F#dim! That sounds much better. I always played it like an Am and then added a finger on the third fret second string and then moved to F. Im so glad i watched this woww

5:43 you do the Am as 'D UDU DDUDU' but when you do the "all together that sounds like" part you do DDUDU twice, which is it supposed to be? I'm going to guess it's the latter, since you played it twice and the song wasn't off the best or anything.
i kinda got confused on the verse and chorus part with the Am. you strummed dudu ddudu, then you played dudu ddudu ddudu. I got pretty confused. it sounded weird. but i got the memo. :D really helped. the tabs online didnt clearify some stuff. thank you! :)

5:43 you do the Am as 'D UDU DDUDU' but when you do the "all together that sounds like" part you do DDUDU twice, which is it supposed to be? I'm going to guess it's the latter, since you played it twice and the song wasn't off the best or anything.
i kinda got confused on the verse and chorus part with the Am. you strummed dudu ddudu, then you played dudu ddudu ddudu. I got pretty confused. it sounded weird. but i got the memo. :D

i really want to learn how to play and to have an ukulele buuuuuut not enough money right now, and i wanted to make a surprise for my friends in our last days in school since it's our last year and we'll all go to college and move away and be apart and i love them so much and i don't really know why i'm commenting this i think it's all the anxiety and nervousness of trying to get it right and perfect till November... it may seem like a lot of time but actually it's not and i'm going insane cause i'm super super shy but i want to sing for them and i'm scared 😂 and english is not our native language so i'm fucked. even though i finished my english course and stuff i still have an accent and i hate when it shows up when i sing and this comment is getting out of my control, but if someone read this till now thank you and wish me luck if you can, even mentally, it'll help. i hope. ok, enough
