- In this video, I take you around my little countryside town, Yeongam-gun Jeollanamdo, to show you what rural life in Korea offers. This video is the last I will likely make in regards to living in rural Korea, as I have now moved to Europe. My channel is linked down below where you can find more rural Korea videos, such as supermarket tours and an apartment tour, for those who may be placed in a small town through teaching positions (EPIK, TEFL, ESL, etc) Thanks for watching!

한국인들도 잘 모르는 한국의 작은 도시와 시골 여행이라 멋지네요!
As a Korean, it was very interestiing to watch a foreigner introducing a very very small town in Korea from a foreigner's point of view. Thank you for such beautiful scenes of reral area and your kind introductions. I guess I will think of this video when I visit Yeongam someday.
Im Korean American ....by far the best women I've dated or had relationship with alll have been from the rural South Koreas...Very wholesome cultured and no procedures or augmentations done to themselves, just pure natural beauty
Love this! I was wanting to watch videos of Korea that aren’t in Seoul/Busan/ places like that. It’s nice to see more countryside areas :)
Aaaah Yeongam is so beautiful!!! Thank you for making this great video! ❤️
Can't believe neither of us are there now!
Courtney Victoria I know!!!! So sad! Lovely little Yeongam and the Yeongam crew! I can do with a Milk tea from Hong Kong coffee right now;)
I graduated from Yeongam Elementary School. I am currently attending Yeongam Middle School.
This is such a beautiful and heartfelt video. This video gives me the feels for a beautiful place I have never been to. Some sort of nostalgia. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Thank you for sharing your Korean experience. We will definitely miss you. Best wishes to you and hopefully you'll come back to Korea again someday. (Except next time live in exciting Seoul instead of the countryside)
Thank you! I enjoyed my time there, I am sure I will be back someday!
Just discovered you through you tube suggestion, great stuff Courtney and greetings from Australia.
Great re-cap of your surroundings. Nicely done and well edited.

That was such a charming tour. These little towns seems so pleasant away from hectic big cities pace of life.
We'll need an updated one in a few years time for the huge cinema they are clearly going to build hahaha! (I need updates on what new things you guys get for sure though!)
Loops like a really nice town, I wonder if any tourists came to this town because of your channel (maybe me in the future?)
So, what's next for you? Hope you will continue the channel wherever you go, I wonder if things changed a lot since the last time you visited your home...
Anyways, good luck and I hope to see more video soon :-)
And stay safe!
A beautiful video!
thank you!
Today, I got to know you have been here. Always thanks for your great videos.
Majority of Korea VLOGs I've seen have been from major cities, so thank you for this! I miss the Korean countryside and this video really brought me back to my childhood.
Yeongam, oh i´ve bin to Mokpo twice now. i do like Jeollana-Do very much.
Believe it or not, a lot of Koreans are now going back to rural towns due to better life.
HI~Victria ~ Thanks to living with Korea~ Have a great everyday~
고마워요 코트니 님 덕분에 한국인인 제가 영암을 자세히 알게 되었네요 ㅎㅎㅎ

You make such fun, friendly videos full of useful information!
Thank you for sharing your nice video ❤
Love this video! 😍
Thanks for the beautiful video
It is well explained 💗
Rural S.Korea is much cleaner than my country's rural area. I would love to live in that place.
Hi, where is the seaside mountain, 9:50? Nice video, enjoyed watching.
Hi! That is Seongsan Ilchulbong, the 'sunrise peak' in Jeju Island. The shot was taken from Gwangchigi beach where you get the most perfect view of it!
Thank you for all of your videos! I was studying abroad at Yonsei University until the pandemic hit in March 2020, so I returned to the U.S. I'm hoping to return to Korea as an English teacher in rural Korea. I'm half-Korean and I'm really interested in immersing myself in a more traditional Korean community in comparison to Seoul. I'd love to improve my Korean, make Korean friends, and participate in the community in any way I can. I also love being out in nature and camping, so seeing your videos of Wholchulsan National Park was phenomenal. What programs can I go through to teach in rural Korea? I am aware of EPIK and GEPIK, but I missed the registration for this year. My mom was adopted from Paju, in Gyeonggi-do, so I was considering teaching there, but would honestly love to teach anywhere that provides the rural experience, and Yeongam seems perfect. What do you recommend the best path to take in order to live in rural Korea, be immersed in a traditional Korean community, and have an amazing experience?
Hi! Thanks for your comment. That's a shame, I know a lot of people that had to leave Korea last year due to the pandemic. A tough time for everyone. It seems as though EPIK has taken over a bit these days. There used to be specific applications for other, more rural provinces like Jeollanamdo, but now it looks like you have to go through EPIK and request a specific location. Unfortunately, EPIK only takes new teachers twice a year now, a summer and winter/spring intake. There is also the TalK program but EPIK seems to be the popular and most sought option. Otherwise, you can search for job listings from independent agencies such as Korvia, Gone 2 Korea, Reach to Teach, or look for postings on facebook groups like: Every Expat in Korea, English Teachers in South Korea, where international schools, universities and private academies may be looking to fill positions. Due to the pandemic, there are a lot of positions that haven't been filled for quite a few months. More teachers seemed to leave last year than arrive. If you go through a program (which unfortunately would involve waiting for the next intake), rural positions are not difficult to obtain. Most people applying are likely to request a location close to a big city or not request anything at all and accept they could be placed just about anywhere. If you requested, for example, Paju, as long as they had positions to fill you probably wouldn't have any issues getting placed there. Jeollanamdo is considered the most rural province, but I would say most provinces are pretty rural outside of the cities. Gangwon-do is a very picturesque province. There are smaller, more historical cities too, like Jeonju and Gyeongju. (I absolutely adore Gyeongju!) I think if you are already very open minded to the idea of living rurally then you won't have a problem! Korean skills will be useful in helping you build relationships with locals. Even the tiny rural towns will have cultural events and festivals running throughout the year so there is always something to see and do. I hope this helps a little bit! Feel free to ask more questions, otherwise good luck with your journey getting to Korea!
Korea is good nation

Remember
Hey, I really enjoyed this video. It’s actually inspired me to visit this town. Do you remember there being any hotels or any sort of accomodation? The only thing I can find is one love hotel. Thanks! Hope you’re doing well.
If you love hiking I'd definitely recommend visiting Yeongam for the mountain views! Unfortunately aren't many hotels apart from a couple of love motels (one is next to the bus station) and some Korean pensions that you might find Korean listing for on air bnb. Otherwise its an hours ride from Mokpo city and about 30-40 minutes from Naju city!
아름다우세요~^^
굿잡 빅토리아 파이팅!
Did you interact with Korean teachers at the school? How was that? Did they treat you with respect?
Wow. Looks like you somehow edited out all (or most) of the people!!! There's no one in the streets!
영암에서 원어민 교사로 활동하시다니 영암인으로 너무나 즐겁게 시청했습니다 다시 영암으로 돌아오기를 바랄게요🎉
Ok, it sounds like you get around a lot. But do you speak Korean, Japanese, Chinese....? How do you communicate with the people of Asia?
How much is rent there also is going to big cities from time to time will cost alot?

00:23 "I admit having a pretty bad memory"-- Then why didn't you move out of there after your first one-year contract expired? You stayed on for three more years, didn't you?
Seems you are quite good at verbal backstabbing, the usual British style 😆
