    ATTENTION: Some viewers mentioned right angle drill adapters and electric ratchets. I have a right angle adapter, and they have limitations. You have a bulky drill attached to them making it more difficult to use in tight spots if you need to reach in, and with my unit, I can insert the entire "drill" into a 2x6 wall with only the opening for a double gang electrical box. As for electric ratchets, they're good, but can be bulky and expensive. The purpose of this video was to REPURPOSE an old power window motor. Thanks for watching! Stay safe.

    This is great! I'm going to use this to motorize some scissor jacks.

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  4 года назад +1

      I tried it, no good. LOL It has the power to almost get the car off the ground. In order to make it work, you'd need to add a 2" gear off the gear on the PWM, and have the socket attached to that gear. It will spin slower, but more torque.

    Good idea. You can also find a 1/4 hex racheting wrench, it will be just 3 cm wide so you can fit it in any tiny space.

    I liked how much control there was when driving the screw and drilling the 2x4, tons of smooth torque. Another thing you can do is use this on a scissor jack to change a tire on your car.
    How much was it for all the parts?

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  4 года назад +3

      Believe it or not, the scissor jack was my first idea which I tested. It was able to raise the car almost off the ground and then it went to overload. I tested this on three different vehicles, and the same thing, it couldn't get the car completely off the ground. Jacking up a small, lightweight European car probably would work fine, but for a heavier car I would have had to add an additional gear to increase the torque further. It does do an amazing job at driving screws into wood drilling pilot holes or small hole through wood or even into thin sheet metal in tight spaces where you couldn't use an ordinary drill. Thanks for watching! Be sure to share

    • @electronicsNmore

      That's a quality ratchet, but looks much bulkier. If you want higher torque, then it's def the way to go.

    With windows in car once it is closes or opens window it does stop but on the video it is able to drill through. Is it after it reaches a certain torque? Also, would you be able to increase the torque of this thing by increasing Voltage etc. This is really cool and I am really thinking of few things

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  4 года назад

      With the car window, the trolley connected to the window has a stop at the bottom and top of the track. Once the stop is encountered(or the window closes tight), the current surges causing the overload switch to open the circuit.

    Out of curiosity did you ever find out how much torque it puts out? Found a brand new one at a yard sale today and currently sitting in my lap debating on what to use it for. Picked it up for .$50 (yes 50 cents) couldn’t pass it up lol
    Let me know if you measure and have an idea of power/torque, etc.

    Great idea - thanks!
    With the low duty cycle use and built in protector, seems like a good candidate for a mild overvolting to increase unloaded speed. eg 4S / 14.8v nom/16.8v max lion battery connected to that long 16ga cord, which would nicely limit current/drop motor voltage, as it loads down.

    Seems like it might be better than a lot of the cheap power screwdrivers out there.
    - better clearance
    - higher power (12v vs usually 3.6v or so)
    - easily replaceable battery/power source
    The only thing it doesn't have is a clutch but the RPM looks low enough to not need it, and while I can see a lot of runout it probably doesn't matter as much on such a short tool - some jigs set up to align the parts when making it would probably fix that anyway.

    • @electronicsNmore

    Sorry for being insensitive but this tool you made from a power window motor can be replaced by purchasing a electric ratchet, the big thing is the niftiness of being resourceful and making tools for stuff that you don't already have.

    • @electronicsNmore

      Reading "Pinned" comments would be helpful. Electric ratchets are larger(bulkier), and not cheap. Clearly you're not a viewer that appreciates repurposing things you already have.
