Another thing is selling merchandise(clothing, cards, etc), and allowing the runners to customize their own jersey (as a 400m runner I’ll buy a custom Michael Norman jersey)
More competitive characters that get in peoples faces, maybe its not truly who they are as a person, but its who they are as a show person. Someone needs to get in there and rile everyone up and they need to do a better job covering big events.
@@Jaysg0tti it's alot of old heads that don't like this, take this how you want, but sometimes we gotta do whats best for the sport and not what people are used to seeing in the sport, if that makes sense? Overall it will be better in the long run. One thing about these (bigger sports) is that the fans are involved and the players are competive not only performance wise, but (verbally), I personally don't find anything run with a little showboating.
@@808skimane Exactly but we have two people who do that; Noah & Sha’Carri. They receive so much backlash and all the vets will try to “guide” them to not be raw & authentically themselves. Noah got bashed for pointing @ Erriyon at the line and not wanting to be compared to Usain Bolt when it came to the WR. Sha’Carri brought thousands upon thousands to track over her simply tweeting. Regardless of the good/bad, she still did it. Imagine if we added that realness to the sport, it could BLOW up.
people say we need more fun and entertainment but when sha'carri tried to bring that she got demonized lol the way i see it she took one for the team to try to make it more interesting
IMO, track & field stars don't run enough. I can't remember exactly which year it was, let's say early '90s, Michael Johnson CARRIED the sport. He did a full indoor circuit (flat and banked tracks) as well as outdoors. It just seems that now, athletes run at their own convenience and not to drive and promote the sport. An ex-sprinter has a podcast where he feels that amateurs should not be able to compete at Worlds and Olympics, but it the amateurs that we watch all year long! In 2016 you had McLaughlin, Lyles, and Norman creating intrigue as high schoolers. Matchups also create intrigue and drives interest. McLaughlin in the flat 400m. Norman vs. Lyles over 300m. Lastly, have a sanctioning body that supports and promotes talent. I just read a story where in 2019 a former World Champion was kicked out of an elite training facility for non-payment of fees. IF that story is correct, that's ridiculous.
Just a few nations represented in the interview. This is from one perspective !! You didn’t include Jamaica, Canada and other nations Actually Jamaicans spend money and support their athletes. They bring excitement to the sports and take them out of the equation and track and field would be boring. Look at soccer - the Caribbean brings the excitement and it’s only pushed when USA is participating. The world championship held in the USA but the presentation was flat Look at the commonwealth games with a spectacular opening and ceremony The commentators don’t talk about Team Canada won 4x 100 doing as much as the USA women 4x 100. Sports brings nations together and pushes other athletes to achieve more.
First of all I including everyone who wanted to talk. So if you don’t see a lot of nations that’s because they didn’t want to talk that day so miss me with that. I can’t make anyone talk to me. World Athletics is a global organization the world Championships this year are a reflection of them good or bad.
We need more fun & entertainment in the sport! Exactly Ms. Brown💯
Storytelling and entertainment is the name of the game 🗣
I agree

The merchandise would go crazy 💯
What twanisha terry said is a really important one because having to pay for subscriptions all the time causes less people to tune into meets.
💯💯💯
Right because who finna pay for a whole ESPN subscription😭😭😭
More marketing, more coverage, more knowledge + connection to/about the athletes, more investment, and more professionalism. All facts.
Facts 💯
Love your channel, big changes frome 2 years ago
Thank you glad your still enjoying the content 👊🏾
MJP TV this is a really good perspective from the athletes. Solid Work!
Thank you 👊🏾
so basically more exposure
A question for everybody reading the comments: what do you think the first step is to make the platform larger & increase investment?
🚨Engagement with the fans🚨
