- The Dragonfly, a boss in which countless players have fallen victim and have become slightly more crispy in the process, but what if I told you that you shouldn't be afraid to face down this fiery giant?
Welcome to another tutorial in our favorite, Don't Starve Together! As it turns out, people tend to struggle with the mighty Dfly and Beard wanted to lend a hand! Join him as he showcases a few different methods of dousing the flames of Dragonfly's heart! Plus, a little insight on what killing her can bring to the table for the players!

I was doing this and wolves came, broke the enclosure, caught on fire and killed me. Needless to say I was mad

even a better idea if you're a wortox,cause since lavae's are alive and they also kill themselves,you just get free souls that is free healing..

@@hkayakh If you think about it...clopsie could be useful to drain some of it's health and also a quick way to get rid of him, not a bad thing in my opinion even tho i'd rather fight the dfly in the spring because the night is shorter and the rain will extinguish it when it's on fire, good in case you dont have flutes on you :)

Maybe if you're playing with a willow, you kill the dragonfly, they get the larva. There were four of us and I was willow. I killed the larvae and we all started hitting her when she stopped moving and she eventually died
@@hkayakh Just kill one after the other one by one. DO NOT pit the deerclops and dragonfly together, the deerclops loot (especially the eye) might catch on fire.
Klei: Uses a lot of time and resources to create a hard and complex boss battle with 3 phases in total
Beard: How to avoid 2/3 of the boss phases entirely
Me:Sees that he has 51 wood, 44 twigs, 41 cut grass, and 99 rocks
Also me: *wait, THATS ILLIGAL*

Mods
I use a strat where I make a long wall, but leave a segment with the lava pool. The larvae will try to pathfind through the pool, but they can't, since it is impassable. I usually place a flingomatic on my side, and place cutgrass next to where the larvae get stuck. The larvae get frozen, and yield rocks! More loot from the fight. Rocks are a pain to farm in later days.
I thought you could get rocks more easily by going underground during an antlion's rage?

late reply but i’ve had a lot of success farming rocks with stonefruit plants, basically free veggies and rocks and can also be stored indefinitely 👌

Yup!! I've since played the game a TON and beat dragonfly a few times. Much easier to gather rocks than just wait around for renewable rocks

you should have used the marble suit , if you were gonna tank it. Nice guide btw.
@Grey Star to be honest in don't starve together, marble is the easiest thing in the world to make, and it's usefull only when dlu don't kite, so dragonfly fight is propably only fight that u want to use marble for, other thing u can do with marble is making floar... that's true waste

I recommend the pen method, I used tho method and loved it. For armor 3 marble suits and 5 football helmets. For healing I recommend pierogis, honey poultice, or healing salves. Either way keep at least some food on you because the fight depending on the character could last a few days. Also like many people in the comments recommend try this in winter it makes life somewhat easier from overheating via flames. But, I was overheating from flames in winter so still be mindful of the pen size. Also for a weapon’ I used a ham bat for the infinite durability. Sorry for the long comment but one more thing is that depending on your character’s average attack or abilities could require a change to what I just said, I used WX :3
Use wickerbottom, spawn some hentai, put that thing to sleep, use the end book if you please.

Find yourself what is called a, "Mandrake"! You can find them in the ground usually in plains biomes and they can be made into panflutes! Careful though, they hold a secret! :D
if you have no mandrakes left use a ice staff

@@blomgrumthebossoftheriot4944 no, but if you hit larva 3 times it will freeze and die after freezing effect. So for every lavae you need 3 hits, so you better grab couple of ice staffs

I'm just finding your channel after all these years, but they are my absolute go to for all things DST! Thank you, so much! Very little of this game is intuitive and these guides are crucial.
You can make bearger hit dragonfly and hide in a snurtle shell. Lavaes wont target you and bearger can deal from 8000 to 17500 dmg to it depending on rage of dragonfly.
Hmmm, dragonfly...a fire boss, but yet it takes a whole half the fight to get to the fire

Once you find it, mine it and get the celestial orb which will unlock you the celestial crafting tab

Craft the portal paraphernalia and place it on the *florid postern* or the *portal* to make it celestial.

Now craft the moon rock idol.
Go to your newly made celestial portal put it on the portal. And profit.

@@loakauz183 I did main him for the longest time until I discovered Maxwell is just a more efficient Woodie. Man, Woodie needs buff or at least something to separate him from Maxwell. Maybe his werebeaver form can be buffed and then become viable in combat.

i remember when my friend died to firefly the first time we played in the wilderness bc she didnt know what firefly was, and we had just started so she died instantly. bur we'll probably use these tips so she doesnt immediatly die again

You can also kill d-fly with wickerbottom and her book on tentacles
Unless you are ready to put her to sleep, an enraged Dragonfly will easily destroy a group of tentacles from Wicker's, On Tentacles book!
@@TheBeard777 depends on how many books you use for me 10. She gets stunned before her baby's die so she doesn't get engaged
My method can also be used to make a fully auto d-fly farm by killing her and then reading the books on her spawn. But you're guide is perfect if the viewer is using any other character. Subbed and liked

wtf, it literally has 10x as much health as DST; you got that totally wrong; you need 140 gunpowder, not 14.

@@gomidinho9050 exactly that's why I said dst. And I meant "in dst" not "as dst". And just in case you didn't notice the whole video is about dst, not single player.
I think it would be quite useful to get a walking cane by the time you go fighting with dragonfly for the second time. Sure, you would deal much more damage during the spawn phases.
you guys can also put a sign and them put the walls,but mind that the sign HAVE TO BE very tight on the walls.
Whatever if you do so,the lavae's will try to pass and they will not be able to pass even when the sign is burned.
im saying this because if you tried the walls one,the lavaes CAN try to turn around the walls.

for first method you should use marble suit for more protection.
Wow this is so useful lol me and my cousin were out destroying hound's nests for hounds' teeth and it was night. The night was very short so we made one torch and my cousin just followed me lol and because of the lag i didn't see the Dragonfly and suddenly this giant black silhouette appeared

Got a little crazy story here...
Ever since the new ruler casted out of her duty to terrorize incoming survivors wandering the summer deserts, the Dragonfly feel an emptiness inside her, but the amount of rage would burn a much larger blaze. A draconic beast, she would begin to raid places high an low, for no less than colorful gems. Gems of arcane and incomprehensible power. The ones that would further quench her nigh-insatiable thirst for power. Her flames grow to inferno as her powers increase tenfold and with it, the terror it brings to the unprepared masses who would stumble upon her presence. Yes, there will be some smart enough to outsmart this behemoth, but for someone that has something taken away from them, there is nothing more to be asked.

Me and my friends made our base in a really good chill spot, and then as soon as we decided to explore i just hear my friend going "Uhh, is it normal for there to be a giant fucking dragon hovering right next to our base-" and now guess why i'm here lmao
reminds me of the first time i saw dragonfly, i attacked with a spear and no armor, safe to assume she one shoted me
You can also use marble suits if you aren’t kiting. Bring 5 to be safe along with some football helmets or battle helms but if you are Wilfred you’ll only need 4 suits.
This is quite an old video, well before marble armor became as cheap as it is now, but you're absolutely right.

I just noticed that he has a Backpack and Armor slot when in the game you can only have one or the other. This explains a lot... I need to check if he does this when he playing the game normally.
Nah, this was many, many months ago when I was doing videos every few weeks at a time. The extra equipment slot mod was used to speed things up but then I realized it didn't help with that at all and haven't used it since!
How do you have a backpack and a log suit equipped at the same time?

you can use wigifrid instead of wolfgang because she has a vampiric effect when attacking
you can also make honey poultice for healing and honey nugget for food but ur way also works

I actually have a world where I found the oasis and then next to it was dragonfly it was weird there was also a mixture of both types of cactus

A mod I used to use to make things faster while filming. It's called, 'Extra Equipment Slots'
I use Beards guide and made my setup space efficient cause I play console edition (no mods, sniff) . I made fridge and endothermic fire to arena base and packed nitre as fuel, hambat, flute, 10 rope and 10 pig skin for helmets (took only 2 slots) , and +30 healing salve since I had only 5 dragon pies and 10 honey hams (I played Wolfgang. ) Rest of space I filled log suits and build helmets on the way to murdering that fiery menace. Oh, and the loot was gooood. Thanks Beard for leading me to my first victory♥️
The dragon fly dont hit in area? Bee mines and tooth traps could help? Well im considering beat this lady and i only killed the Deerclopes yet (with a small help: tree guards, spider queenS (he killed two!), Hounds and pigs kkkk)

I used second method and i use 1 boulder like a wall so the larva thinks there are path there so i dont need that much walls

I tried to fight dragonfly, but as soon as it spawns its babies, it just becomes untargetable - how the heck do I combat this!?
What do you mean by you not being able to target her? Do you mean that it's just harder to do it once the babies are there? If that's the case, you need to create walls or a pen for the fight! If you mean that you can't hit her at all, that is a known glitch with a map mod so check that out!
@@TheBeard777 No, I mean I can't hit her. Even when all the babies are dead, it just glitches around her instead as if she is untargetable, then it throws me back, my character just walks to it instead and just stands there.. a map glitch? and what kind of map mod?

5 log suits maybe for antlion for this boss imma need 8 marble suits 7 dark swords 6 jellybeans 5 thermals 4 hambats 3 scale mail 2 pan flutes and a lot of luck
But the thing is that i cant get living woods i already used 3 dark swords but it was hard to make it
I understand the struggle. For some reason, I do believe Klei did something to the spawn rates of Treeguardians a while back so now I up the spawn in world creation to more. Trust me, they don't come out like crazy with that setting, it feels normal!
I usually play woodie and i find them in ok numbers

in the first method you have used only wooden chestplate i prefer using wooden chestplate + football helmet to get less damage from dragonfly
Stacking armor in DST doesn't work the same as it does in DS.
i realllllllly suggest not putting it on lots. this will make the dragonfly come like deerclops. and the fire rage will happen once attacked
No, it won't. This is Don't Starve Together, not Don't Starve, so Dfly spawns in that same arena every time and setting it on lots only makes her spawn faster than the usual 20 days.
Why not use the bee queen helmet to remove the sanity drain?
Because bee queen hat acts as armour and taking damage like that would almost instantly break

How much damage does the dragonfly do in a single hit???? Is it way harder to fight with characters who have less health to start with?
Considering you're tanking, wouldn't marble armor make this fight even easier?

Have you seen a boss camp where most people would enter through well dragonfly did that to me once she was right on the border of the rest of the world and her territory and I ran into her due to clockworks on day one for me day like 134 for everyone else because I just got on the server and she killed with a single swipe

I prefer a wall thats about 1,5 screen wide and with burned sign in the middle, or even a lava pool. Silly lavae think they can pass through that tiny gap.
Moreover i make some cobblestone and try dodging attacks. Saves on healing and armor.
That he does is a fight mettod named tank the enemy is useful when you have a lot of food but need a lot of armor
you only need 30 stone wall to defeat dfly
