I checked out Rogan for the first time in about a year the other day and first thing he was saying was how, "Tough" Trump is after being attacked by the media and Democrats. I just commented, "Oh, I didn't realize this channel is a propaganda machine now. No reason to listen to this guy anymore".

Breaking Points has this exact audience problem. Just look at the comments, they are overwhelming right-wing. And it's mostly because Saagar is a partisan hack. Krystal criticizes both Democrats and Republicans, but Saagar virtually never criticizes Republicans. And in the rare instances where he actually criticizes Republicans, it's always couched with whaboutism or some other BS justification. He also refuses to acknowledge that racism plays any role in right-wing politics. He's intellectually dishonest, and approaches everything reflexively.

I think Russell Brand is the perfect example of audience capture. If you look at him 5-10 years ago when he was doing "The Trews" news and writing his book "Revolution", there was literally nothing right-wing about his message. Not even a little bit. But then on his podcast he started exclusively ripping democrats without contrasting why republicans are worse (for the worldview he used to promote). Next thing you know he's friends with Tucker Carlson and endorsing trump. Such a disappointment. 😒
Even 5 years ago when he started with the dive into the media narrative in a COVID world he still seemed neutral. Although that was probably the start of his path to the far right, I'd still argue back then he spoke of issues from a 3rd person perspective and thought he even gave right wing talking points a fair analysis. Either way compare him from 2020 to now he's gone way far right since then. The irony is that I actually noticed him and followed him from that time which is where as mentioned he started tip towing into the right, but I actually considered his talking points intelligent and important at a time of crisis. But then from mid 2022 I did start noticing his videos would hard-core condemn the Democrats and never said a single bad word about Trump, then I'd see him interviewing people far into the right like DeSantis, Don JR, Charlie Kirk and even Alex Jones, never challenging their perspective like he would have used to and never having anyone on the left on his show any more and eventually knew he has succumbed to the rights Rcho Chamber.

I sorta agree, but I think in the case of Brand, there's a big heaping of ego and careerism in the mix. Certainly, those are elements in all cases of audience capture; but I think the term itself suggests a more reciprocal mutual-indocrination that takes place between audience and influencer, where the nature of these algorithm mediated parasocial relationships enables the audience to drag the influencer towards promoting ever-more-nieche ideas which cater to that particular audience. In the case of Brand, I think it's a more traditional case of an unprincipled charismatic seeking as many followers as possible.

We need to be willing to work with the opposition center and opposition right. There are right wingers who have been for whatever reason stranded by the weird Trump era - we can pick them up, we can turn them. What's important is opposition to Trump, Musk, and the oligarchs ultimately. *Nearly everything else* I would say is negotiable while in opposition - let them think what they will about our plans, the advantage of opposition is that you don't have to concretize such things. What I'm saying - the way politics is now, the real, meaningful political scale that exists now is opposition vs regime. Just as their is a regime left, center, and right, that all take various kayfabe positions and pretend to have some sort of debate within their sphere, while in reality it's all an orchestrated theater and they are coordinating behind the scenes on messaging. They wish their clown show stooge left to displace the actual left, much like Putin allows the Russian Communist party - it's a clown show, it's a not a threat to him. A liberal opposition party is the actual threat to him, and what you'll notice is that's precisely what is never allowed to be placed on the ballot within Russia. Instead somehow the choices are always a bunch of clowns and then Putin's party. But when Putin calls them up and tells them to fall in line about something important to the regime narrative, like anti lgbt laws, the "opposition" obsequiously obeys and engages in his stupid theatrics like having all them submit the bill simultaneously - how organic, what a certain sign of absolute popular support, we can't see what is going on. Anyway, while building their system, they are going to make a lot of enemies on all sides. We need to put aside past differences and unify with anyone who gets tossed into the opposition. Otherwise, the regime system will isolate and destroy us one by one. It's ultimate goal is no opposition.

08:30. Kyle's right. I only watched Dore for about a month and I caught on to his BS because I actually fact checked him. And this was back in 2017! He always felt fishy to me. I remember in a comment of a video I left, pointing out a fact that was contrary to the narrative he was delivering and the amount of excuses people were making for him in my responses was crazy. Typically when someone doesn't pass a sniff test with me, I end up being correct about my assessment 9 times out of 10.

We need to be willing to work with the opposition center and opposition right. There are right wingers who have been for whatever reason stranded by the weird Trump era - we can pick them up, we can turn them. What's important is opposition to Trump, Musk, and the oligarchs ultimately. *Nearly everything else* I would say is negotiable while in opposition - let them think what they will about our plans, the advantage of opposition is that you don't have to concretize such things.
What I'm saying - the way politics is now, the real, meaningful political scale that exists now is opposition vs regime. Just as their is a regime left, center, and right, that all take various kayfabe positions and pretend to have some sort of debate within their sphere, while in reality it's all an orchestrated theater and they are coordinating behind the scenes on messaging. They wish their clown show stooge left to displace the actual left, much like Putin allows the Russian Communist party - it's a clown show, it's a not a threat to him. A liberal opposition party is the actual threat to him, and what you'll notice is that's precisely what is never allowed to be placed on the ballot within Russia. Instead somehow the choices are always a bunch of clowns and then Putin's party. But when Putin calls them up and tells them to fall in line about something important to the regime narrative, like anti lgbt laws, the "opposition" obsequiously obeys and engages in his stupid theatrics like having all them submit the bill simultaneously - how organic, what a certain sign of absolute popular support, we can't see what is going on.
Anyway, while building their system, they are going to make a lot of enemies on all sides. We need to put aside past differences and unify with anyone who gets tossed into the opposition. Otherwise, the regime system will isolate and destroy us one by one. It's ultimate goal is no opposition.
I applaud Krystal for checking Saagar on Breaking Points when he says absurd comments. We need more of that. We need intelligent left commentators continuing to tear down commentary on the right.

08:30. Kyle's right. I only watched Dore for about a month and I caught on to his BS because I actually fact checked him. And this was back in 2017! He always felt fishy to me. I remember in a comment of a video I left, pointing out a fact that was contrary to the narrative he was delivering and the amount of excuses people were making for him in my responses was crazy. Typically when someone doesn't pass a sniff test with me, I end up being correct about my assessment 9 times out of 10.
There's a reason why he brings on a bunch of guests to set the record straight. He is a comedian after all.
