    Good to see what it can do. It looks like you may have been better to have had the truck on lower ground, it looked like the excavator was on the lower fall side of the truck

    Wow. You almost had it on the first try before the relief valve overloaded. Glad the suspension is okay.

      I knew the overload was going to kick in on that first attempt. I just wasn't sure when. I'm not going to lie . . . I was nervous! On that third attempt I knew I was just going to have to get it over the trailer before it overloaded again. lol

    Hey buddy 👋 I said I'd call by and check your content out. MAN that was a big old log you were cutting into at the beginning there. Your ex did a great job until it had to lift it higher. Sometimes these newer machines have too many safety controls involved that the old school lifting capacity is vastly reduced. Fine work though, if its on, its GONE ! 🤣
    Nice video buddy 👍

      I appreciate it man. I wish a lot of the machines we see on the market now were like the machines in the 80's and 90's. Emissions have done a hurting on us too. No telling where we'll be 10 years from now . . . probably running all electric and dealing with hourly blackouts. 😅 - Samuel

    My friend I noticed you not use the boom swing to make a little room for yourself in a tight spot, the hydraulics for the boom swing are much more powerful than using cab swing, and will help keep things nice and tight. Boom swing is an operators special friend.

      David,
      I really appreciate you watching the video! I love my KX080-4 . . . only have 150-some hours on it so far, but the amount of work I have completed with it in that time is crazy! It’s definitely capable enough to clear land and build roads . . . that’s a big reason why I bought mine! - Samuel

      @@TheTennesseeFrontier thank you for the reply. I’m going to order one later this week. No I must decide if I should go with rubber tracks or steel.

    • @TheTennesseeFrontier
      @TheTennesseeFrontier  2 года назад

      @@davidcook2687 I went with steel tracks with rubber pads. I bought the pads for protecting residential concrete driveways. I do a lot of urban log salvage.
      If the area you work in has rocky soil you are going to want to go with metal. Rocky soil will eat up the rubber tracks. Another cool thing about the metal tracks . . . the drive links are the same between the standard width track pads and the 24” wide track pads, or at least I was told (makes sense).
      I plan on buying a set of the wide pads to put on for jobs that I need a little more flotation. If you decide to buy wide pads too . . . keep in mind that the wider pads put more wear on undercarriage components, so while they increase flotation . . . they are not good in all situations. The deflection of the pads due to rocks and uneven ground puts a lot of leverage/pressure on the undercarriage components.

    I cannot believe the spiral grain in that log a 2:00!!! I do not know if hardwoods have spiral grain issues like the conifers, but that much right hand twist was in a Western Larch it would only make firewood that was hard to split.

    • @TheTennesseeFrontier
      @TheTennesseeFrontier  2 года назад +1

      Slabs that wide with that much twist in the wood structure would yield a lot of stress. Even with weight on the stack . . . be a lot of epoxy to fill the voids. I’m like you. I wouldn’t want to deal with it. - Samuel

    • @mfritch
      @mfritch 2 года назад +1

      @@TheTennesseeFrontier Left hand spiral grain is the worst, but right hand will also move too. It is just less pronounced. I have seen Western Larch twist so hard in a log house that the walls of a log house literally popped the logs out of their notches and lifted enough to let birds in!! I've tried to split wood that had that much twist in them and it is hard to split because you have to come at the blocks swinging the ax at an angle. What will you do with that log?
      I was also going to say that when you were loading that thing, you had it high enough that you could have lifted it up and backed the trailer under it and then let it down. I tend to take less risks the older I get. I'm glad you made it home safely.

    • @TheTennesseeFrontier
      @TheTennesseeFrontier  2 года назад +2

      @@mfritch Sorry for such a late response! I would have liked to see where that cabin log popped out of its notch . . . that is an impressive amount of force!
      I can't stand having to swing an axe or sledge at an angle . . . not only is it cumbersome. It's just unsafe (at least in my hands). Hahah
      I ended up hauling that log to the sawmill. Surprisingly they did not dock me any on grade due to the twist! I figured they would. I have 20-30 huge logs that I have to get slabbed up before long. I thought about saving this log to slab, but I'm just so far behind I can't keep everything. There is plenty of milling content to come! I look forward to sharing that with you and all my other followers!
      Someone else recommended me backing the trailer under the log! In all honesty that never even crossed my mind. I was really surprised that I was able to even lift that log! What impressed me more than the shear lift capacity of the KX080 . . . was the ability to hold the log with the thumb. Gravity is a strong force, but the KX080's thumb put it in its place!
      Sorry again about the late response!
