Glad I found your channel. I am heading to Palmer 5&6 July this year after retiring from Roadracing 20 years ago. Might actually do some club racing again at Loudon. Looking good on the track ! Just a little tip I use to do back in the day, a little baby powder on the seat will allow you to slide on the seat rather than having to take any weight off your butt for the transition.
Great and helpful video. Did you grow up riding dirt bikes? I did, and also tend to shift BP by standing on the pegs vs sliding using the knees. Other than upsetting the bike, moving around too much will also tire you sooner. Another useful drill to try is trying to have your knee going over the edge of the road at the apex, either over the grass or the rumble strips. That will immediately help the bike track way better over the apex. Loved Palmer by the way!
I didn’t notice the movement of the bike and you until you pointed it out. But, thanks for the advice! I’ll try to pay attention when I’m riding the curves 😬. Also, you mentioned that you’re very upright with your head and shoulders. Your style reminds me of Alex Rins and he is not slow. Can’t wait to see go in the black group!
I really enjoy your videos. Let me know if you ever get south to ride with N2 ot TDW. Some unsolicited advice that you might try: Leave your butt on the seat and use your shoulders/head to lead you...without pulling the outside bar or pushing the inside bar. You will want your butt of a little, but this technique can train you to lead with the top of your body, and it won't unset your chassis as you transition. In your field of view is right or left of the dash, and lower. If you can see the dash, your head isn't in the right place. Once you get that into muscle memory, add in the butt move (more of a slide than an up and down motion, so the suspension won't notice! :) )
Thx for the advice B-rad, I’ll try that next month. As for getting south. That was the plan for the winter months when I moved back east, but covid kinda put that on hold. But I’ll get that way sooner or later lol
I have 2 cameras but have yet to try that butt cam to check bp. Seems like a duh now to me as I am working on that too. Great video Derrick, hope I spelled that right!
Your still in the process of thinking about what you need to do. And so the mind is thinking I need to make sure I, what is this traffic in front of me doing?....Welcome to the squirrel....LOL.....Its funny because anybody watching this would think that looks SOOOO easy. Until you get out there!.....Camera's are humbling. They really show all the spots where issues are. Especially if you can get them in places that show hand, feet, and body position.....I too struggle with dropping my elbow, shoulders, and head.
Awesome video thanks for sharing

Another solid video, and honestly very helpful to both novice / intermediate riders as its honestly something we all have to work on!
