My mom fell for a tech scam a few years ago, they conned her out of money, BUT her bank was able to spot those suspicious transactions and gave her her money back.
Another scam is someone sends you a message that they saw your name on a unclaimed money site! I really thought it was a good friend of mine but when they asked for my PIN number, I decided to call my friend instead and I found out it was a scam!! 😡
That's been a big Facebook message scam since about 2010. An account of a friend gets hacked, then they tell you that they got money and saw your name on the list. I got wise to that one pretty fast. It still pops up now and again. Find the friend's profile and tell them they've been hacked.

I don't answer the phone if I don't know who it is. If something comes up on my computer I shut it down right away. I don't go on any dating sites and I would never send money to anyone I haven't met in person. All of my family members have way more money than I do so they aren't going to ask me for money. If I got a call saying someone was in jail and needed me to bail them out I'd figure they are in jail for a good reason so I am not going to bail them out. I can't get scammed by a romance scammer because I don't go on any dating sites and I don't friend anyone on social media who I don't know in person. If I ever did talk to any man I would tell him that I am old-fashioned and I am looking for a man who is going to provide for me, not the other way around.
All you have written can be said in just 3 words, don't trust anyone. This is my life motto and it served me well. I'm 91 years old and rarely had any scamming experience. I welcome scammers because I like to know what make them tick. I guess that words got around to not fool with me.

My daughter was scammed out of $600 because she was called about not showing up for a court date which she was not aware of, but she knew she had been chosen for jury duty and could not show up. She was embarrassed because she didn't show up to jury duty and that she didn't see she was being scammed. Never believe someone when they want you to put money on a pre-paid card.

Don't forget the classic "Nigerian Prince" scam. People still fall for that.

We've received similar calls from people claiming to be from the IRS. Spoiler alert: they're not!
