I am just coming across this video now, but you did an excellent job of explaining the different media to use in your art journal. I have watched other videos, written extensive notes, and yet still been a bit confused as to the why and when you use these different products. This basically has filled in all the missing information for me, so thank you so much for sharing!
You just answered all my questions. Thank you so much! Im new to art Journaling and wanted to make sure im using the products correctly. I was using chalk paint to prime my paper but dont like the heavy texture. I will be buying gesso yayy!
I wanted to experiment with liquitex, and going the distance with mixed media... Im a artist from Trinidad Thanks sooo much glad i found you 😀 had fun learning ... you got that glow😯🌸
I just watched your video and can't wait to try out these different mediums in my collages. Thank you for this information and thank you for your enthusiasm, your smile and your very expressive personality.
Oh my goodness! This is so incredibly helpful!! I had NO IDEA!! I feel like my art will be massively elevated now...it’s been so clunky and unfinished. This helps me tremendously!!
This video is very informative and beginner friendly! I was a bit overwhelmed when doing research and this helped. Plus you are very talented and lovely ☺️
Thanks for the video. I was looking for an explanation for these different mediums, I have a sketchbook, but my process involves a lot of mixed media, which as you can imagine leads to a lot of wear and tear on the paper. Art supplies are also not the cheapest thing in my country so is nice to know what I need before looking at prices!
Hey! Can you maybe tell me what medium I should use if I want to to paint a whole canvas with only one acrylic color to create one rich, smooth, without any marks one colored canvas ? It will usually show brush strokes or other unevenness. What medium should you recommend to make the acrylic color more fluid and maybe should I just pore it over the canvas instead of paint it on? Thanks :)
Hello!! i'm looking for a medium i can use to mix glow in the dark Pigment powder with to get a nice glow in the dark acrylic paint that would dry clear. Which one would you recommend that would work best for that?
Thanks so much. Not too long, well explained and of course I've only just begun and it will be trial and error. I see the video is 3yr old, you may not get this. GReat anyway.
This video was so helpful Erin! Thank you very much..I had no idea how to use moulding paste. QUESTION: Do you glue some of your (mixed media) journal pages together to make them thicker? If you do, what do you use?
Thank you for explaining these, I was wondering what made matte medium any different from mod podge, now I know lol Although, I have the exact same Liquitex gesso as you, size color & all lol & I’ve been able to create that exact 3D effect using it with a stencil as you showed the modeling paste provide....are there any other unique uses for the modeling paste other than that 3D effect? Btw, I’m assuming you’re in Australia, perhaps New Zealand? My son is obsessed w/a Netflix show called “Australia’s 72 most dangerous animals”....& I am stunned that any human life thrives there, whatsoever!! From salt water crocodiles, box jellyfish, stone fish, cone snail, hum-bolt squid, blue ringed octopus, sharks, etc I don’t know how anyone could survive a trip to the beach lol then on land, forget it!! You guys must be made of steel over there!! Is it really as horrifying as it’s made out to be?? Sorry, this show is on in my house every single day (my boy is only 5) so I just need to ask - but don’t feel alone, Asia, Africa & South America are ALMOST just as scary lol Thanks again for explaining these mediums!! ❤️
Hello Lovely and thank you for your entertaining comment😊 Some ideas for you - Use different tools and brushes to drag along the surface of the modelling paste and create patterns and textures. Add leaves or beads or things in there too. I'm sure there are more exciting ways to use it but I don't really explore with it as much as I could. Australia lol!! Yes it is full of dangerous things and sometimes I wonder myself how we manage to stay alive! For the most part I never see any of those scary things and I guess we are just used to being cautious. They are rather amazing animals though so I suppose we are lucky to experience them, but honestly sometimes I would just like a nice peaceful swim somewhere safe where nothing can eat me!!! xoxox
This is exactly what I needed. Thank you!
