Thanks for taking us along on your bike ride😀 Glad you had luck on your side that day too🤞👍 A friend and I walk towpaths often and when a cyclist approaches us from behind, I generally hear their bell and step aside, however my friend is hard of hearing and often cannot hear the bell or distinguish it from other ambient sound like the wind or boat engine or water….so I have to grab his arm or shout out quite loudly. I guess ppl who listen to music whilst walking might not hear either, so your slow approach is much appreciated. Enjoy your boating now cruising has become permissible again. Regards
A very dour and friendless place. One wonders what happened to Old Mills. A very nice perspective on the canal by bike .. and the CRT at work .. a mini piece of video education on its own. Your viewpoint and amusing ( if scary ) commentary is excellent, thank you. I like the new way to sponsor you .. just drop a fiver when we spot you cycling by ! Very nice vlog..thank you.
Hello Phil, I see demo work across the canal from the sweet factory! Have a good night. Nice find! If you do more of these look how much money you'll find!
Nice ride there Phil. Just a pity the sun wouldn’t shine for you. Early in the ride I noticed some mooring bollards, seemingly very close to the towpath. Hitting one of those could caused quite a bit of damage to both you and the bike. You really had to watch where you were going. Apart from the vehicle which almost pulled out in front of you, there was another who was extremely close when he overtook you. Couldn’t have been more than 12 inches away. Very dangerous. I gave up cycling some years ago, for those very reasons. Stay safe.
Who wins in a collision between a 1500 kg van and 15 kg bike? It certainly is NOT the bike :( Thanks for taking us along for the ride, and stay safe out there, Phil!
Phil, Thank you for another super video. I am by no means a Bike expert. That sound you spoke of, sounded as if the Chain was tapping against the guard. Let us know what you found it to be. It seems some drivers have no respect for the Bike Rider. Congratulations on your good fortune! I wish you many more such finds.
The rattle could be a loose mount for your front basket, mud or chain guards? Or it could be the milk bottle tops attached to your spokes? Seriously , todays vlog is excellent with good views of the tow path stone walls and canal. Also reminded me of the narrowness of town roads. Thanks Phill, take care.
I've explored all those options. I can't hear the rattle whilst cycling so I concluded it must be very quiet but close to the microphones. It was, it was a rattling button on the sound recorder itself! Hopefully a bit of tape on it will cure the problem...?
Great video Phil, Friends of ours live in New Mills so know it well, If you go up to the top of the road from the end of your video is Dave's chip shop , the best for miles around. Take care.
Did u start the bike ride from the winding hole on the Peak ?? The first one...... we turned there and went back to Bollington at that point.... great to watch what we missed and can do again sometime! Xx
I usually try to make eye contact with car drivers so at least I know they have seen me. In this case if he had continued to pull out into the road I probably wouldn't have been able to stop in time.
Lovely ride along the canal but the town looks dreary, noisy and probably smelly from the fumes. Lucky find of that £5 note. Meant to be. Best to you, Jane, Philadelphia
I was in New Mills about 20 years ago (not driving, so it wasn't me that winged you). I thought it was one of the most depressing of places. Sadly, it hasn't changed. Smashing video, as always.
Hi Phil, stay safe out there, i know from my experience cycling and riding motorbikes, you're right to assume drivers lack the gift of sight 🧐 As for your good fortune, i believe in fate....it was meant to be, that you found it 😁👍

Be safe! And thank you again!

Loving the diversity of the videos, stay safe..
Delightful!
Dangerous road. You take care Phil. T hat was a great ride. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey along the tow path. Thank you.
I did enjoy that! These sandstone block buildings so unlike our Southern brick built!
Hello Phil, from the West of Ireland. Great video, like being on a roller coaster. Well done. Thanks.
Many thanks!
Lovely bike ride. You had two bits of good fortune. Thank you for sharing your journeys.
Nice and empty towpath in London can get busy and if it is sunny it feels like Oxford Street at Christmas on Lee or stort

Very nice vlog..thank you.
New Mills is ok in nice weather, and the surrounding countryside is lovely.
Thanks Phil, really enjoyed the ride, but, the roads of today are scary, as a walker, cyclist, or driver!! Take care.

A different view of the canal from a bike a lovely ride at least it wasn't raining that day . Thanks for the ride 🙃
Good vlog Phil , but are we going to see you cruising very soon. Love your comments
Thank you. It depends on when they reopen the canal...?

Cycling is by far the most dangerous thing I do, but I don't have much choice in the matter.
Nice to ride along the tow path with you.

I enjoy your bike, walks and boat trips.
Enjoyed that. Thanks for the ride-along

Thank you. It wasn't the bike that was rattling. It was a loose button on the sound recorder!
@@NarrowboatJourneys Another mystery solved. Stay safe. And lets see Gidge and Bushka soon. Take care!
Lovely ride. Thanks for the video. Safe travels.
Loving these videos

Yes very close to there.
Good video keep posting videos up on your trip stay safe
Did you find anything good at the thrift store? Thanks for sharing your ride into town!
I didn't find anything good that day but I often do very well with charity shops. I enjoy looking as you never know what will turn up in them.
Lovely video. Things get a bit hairy on the bicycle with the cars whizzing past - take care!
Thank you. The trouble is that I can take all the care in the world but it will still only take one idiot in a car not paying attention to finish me.
As a former motorcycle driver, I always make the same assumption. Just last week saved me when an old guy blew through a stop sign!
I usually try to make eye contact with car drivers so at least I know they have seen me. In this case if he had continued to pull out into the road I probably wouldn't have been able to stop in time.

Should be renamed Grimley.
thats just where i dropped a fiver.hahaha
was that as close as you could get to the town for a longer term mooring? It seemed there were options closer. Keeps you fit, though!
Marple was closer but I get bored going to the same place all the time.
