I think your idea is wonderful but like you said you need to find a proper solution for the long term! Maybe a good idea might be to work with the locals, you showed on the 1st episode that you had to check your blood pressure before going up, maybe every person going up should be briefed about trashing, making sure they have nothing in their bag that could end up being thrown away! Another option would be to place recycling spots for people to throw away their garbage along the way and make sure they know about it before going up! Once people are aware and things have been put in place, then the big cleanup makes sense and hopefully no more trash everywhere! Hope my ideas help 🙏

You have to talk to local bupati from that regency first and show in a documentation( i suppose you have) how serious this problem is..
But I fantastic initiative. Only people like you can do that in conjunction with indonesia vloggers. Wishing you all the best.

I am totally in as soon as travelling is back on! Maybe you could put up waste bins & recycling sites along the way + education on recycling of trash for the locals, which could be easily founded with some donations! Probably, it would also be good thinking about involving the indonesien government and/or some non-profit organisations in order to make sure the waste bins are cleaned up on a regular basis (this could also be a good chance for locals earning some extra money) 🧐

Di pos kantor pendakian. Ada kebijakan yg lebih ketat bagi para pendaki.
1. Miisal, petugas mengecek dan mendata bawaan pendaki yg diindikasikan bisa menghasilkan sampah dan dibuang diatas gunung atw pos tertentu.
Di data jenis bawaannya apa jumlah barang yg dibawa. Nama org atau grup pendaki. Saat nanti turun, mereka dicek kembali dipos lapor. Apakah barang yg diindikasikan menghasilkan sampah, saat mo mendaki sesuai jenis dan jumlahnya gk dg saat turun. Jika tidak sesuai, makan barang yg gk tertera di daftar saat mo mendaki, dikenakan denda uang. Besarannya terserah pengelola. Mungkin itu kliatan lebay, tapi kyk na harus mulai dibuat dan ditetapkan aturan model gini, agar pendaki pny tanggung jawab dan sbg peringatan jika sampah yg mereka tinggalkan diatas atau lupa bawa, berakibat ada denda berupa uang yg harus dikeluarkan kembali.
2. Petugas dan pengelola Kawasan Gn Rinjani mulai mendata dan memberi training bagi para porter utk mengingatkan pula akan ada sanksi jika barang2 ransum yg mereka bawa buat pendaki dan menghasilkan sampah, jika gak dibawa turun kembali, akan disanksi denda uang atw sanksi lain yaitu mereka disuruh balik lg keatas utk memungut sampah yg ditinggalkan disemua jalur trek dan pos istirahat pd hari itu jg.
Mendata juga, mungkin ada porter yg ilegal masuk dan tdk terdata oleh petugas dipos bawah.
Kalo bisa, petugas Kawasan Gn Rinjani bisa memberi seragam khusus bagi para porter agar identitas mereka bisa dikenali dan mmg sudah diketahui petugas klo mereka tlah legal.

This is so cool! It reminds me of the time I hiked up mount toubkal which is a little above 4000 meters. No matter how fit you are, altitude affects everyone differently! Really miss the time of freedom and experiencing the world!!

Plan clean up:
1. Clean it all up ones
2. Put down small signs on the most walked places
3. Put up thrash areas with easy access
4. Educate the people that walk and work around the Vulcano
5. The maps for people walking up there should include awareness about thrash and thrash areas.

Best Series to watch while in Quarantine in Jakarta! I want to go to Rinjani too this summer :) I would love to join you on the Clean-Up. I think thats a great Idea :)
Best outtro I've ever seen regarding the condition of mt. Rinjani. In my very pessimistic way, to make a better Rinjani means to change mindset of most Indonesian. Then it means you have to educate most of them, therefore it is difficult. Solution? provide garbage bins along the trails. I know it doesn't solve the problem completely, but at least we hope the rubbish not as widespread as I see on the footage.
In 2015, I climbed the mountain and I witnessed the condition of Senaru track was cleaner than Sembalun one. One difference I saw was there were many garbage bins along the Senaru track while I didn't see any single one throughout the Sembalun track. An additional information I obtained from the local people: Senaru and Sembalun tracks were maintained by different communities (I don't know the situation of today, (I am an Indonesian, now in Japan anyway)). Appreciate to you who have concern about Rinjani. I Hats off.

I did a similar climb a few months ago in New Zealand. I know exactly how hard these climbs are, but having done it there is a real sense of accomplishment. Some say they push themselves in a gym, but that never compares to pushing yourself on climbs like these.
The transition from the droneshots in the sky/clouds to the shot with the bird was just pure art and pretty nuts 😁🤙🏻

@@Ben_Anter drone skyshot then a normal camera pointed at the bird into the sky and then just cut it together at a point the two clips look the most similar and bam you have a great transition. At least that's what i think happened;)

Thanks, i have a suggestion regard your last thoughts about cleaning and far more keep the way clean for the future. You could think to put trash bins in the way up, like 1 trash bin every 200 meters. try to think about natural leaf based bins mean bins made from the leaf of palm trees or so on. you can also put a sign to make people that are on the way down to empty the filled bins on their way down so you ensure that there will be awarnace and responsibilities.

You could set up some signs to inform the tourists and locals about the trash problem and a better way to dispose their garbage and keep their environment clean. Also, if that's possible you could set up some trash cans on the paths but I don't know how easy it would be to empty those on a regular basis. Great vlog! I loved everything about it!

The foreigners don’t care about the little money they would get. But I guess the only solution would be the porters emptying the bins regularly

At the health center, there should be someone to check your lougage and to exactly see the amount of plastics, papers, ect. you are bringing with you to the mountain and later when you arrive back down, there should be a final check if you have bring all the trash back down.

Honestly not only the best Rinjani video but about Hiking in general, don't get me wrong I do like Fiersa Besari and Slacker Hikers video aswell but their vlogs were “Boring” compared to this.

Trash Issue
If the mountain is clean people are less likely to throw out trash. Although as soon as some people leave trash behind other people will see it as normal and some will do it as well.
I think probably part of the problem is that people do not know what to do with the trash. If at the start of the hike people are told what to do with their trash they will do a better job. Also alternatives against trash can be a solution, for example giving people containers to put their food etc. in so they can leave their trash at the start of the hike.
Also a reward based system can work where people who take trash back from the top of the mountain get a reduction on the costs of the hike.

Hi Bro, the volcano in the middle of the lake if I'm not wrong we called "Gunung Baru Jari" in english is "New Become mountain", this volcano is son of Rinjani, I was affected by this eruption volcano around 1994 when I living in Sumbawa island, the dust cover some areas in Sumbawa, what a never forgotten memory 🙏🏾👍🏽

Maybe something with supporting the use of biodegradable products when you climb the mountain and stimulate the use of reusable bottles that way you don't have to send cleanup crews when trash ends up on the mountain because it will desolve over time.
