In addition, the 1974 team had two world class midfielders in Neeskens and Van Hanegem while Holland of 84-92 didn't have players of that caliber in midfield, and in defense, Rudy Krol was as good as Rikard and far better than Koeman.
Holland stopped being awesome after Sneijder, Robben and van der Vaart. We used to be able to select a whole team of strong players. But currently there are only like 5-6 players that would make it at any team. De Jong, de ligt, van Dijk, Wijnaldum, de Vrij, Blind. 4-5 players are just fillers. The Netherlands is just a midsized country. Which shows when we play against countries with 60+ million people. They could select 4 strong squads.

Andreas Brehme had more balls than Matthäus. He took the deciding penalty in the 89th Minute in Rome 1990 World Cup final when Matthäus was too scared to take the penalty. Overall , Matthäus was a bigger legend . But Brehme deserved accolade too . German supporter.
