For people who say sexual orientation doesn't matter, they sure put a lot of importance behind it when they change.

@@HalkerVeil What are you even on about? For one, gender identity =/= sexual orientation. For another, nobody has ever said sexual orientation doesn't matter. As a matter of fact we've argued for the importance of identity and sexual fluidity for decades. Goes to show how much of this has fallen on deaf ears if you still have a misconception THAT severe. I wanna give you the benefit of a doubt and assume this came from ignorance but somehow this doesn't feel like that. It feels like malice. Unprovoked malice at that. I don't know who hurt you but I recommend therapy.

Honestly probably only took one take. They do hour long shows live on stage in full robot mode and never break. They took a class in mime together before forming the band so that’s where the skill comes from, and over time as they started making their own songs and gaining a bigger audience they completely perfected their movements

I'm not sure if you noticed this in the video, but if you watch Rabbit (the one with the brass goggles) closely, you can see her moving her mouth when she's not supposed to. In the band's live performances from this era as well in newer music videos, she does this frequently. This is actually a part of the character. According to the band lore: Rabbit was built in 1896 (like most robots), but she has frequent malfunctions where her machinery will randomly stutter, and she may even shut down or reboot. It's a unique part of her character. Each of the robots have quirks that set them apart from each other, and Steam Powered Giraffe (SPG) really likes to show this in their music videos even if it is barely noticeable.
On their "Quintessential" album (2016), they have a song called "Malfunction" which talks about how all robots and people are different. The music video for this song is one of my favorites as it goes beyond the band and shows fans who wanted to be a part of it. The song basically states that no matter your "malfunction" you deserve love. If you haven't seen the music video, it is one I recommend. It's a different style from the era of SPG shown here, but it's still interesting.

This is honestly one of their best songs to just listen to. There’s so much going on. It may be their biggest hit and I think it’s been played at every concert. There’s a little twist when they play it live, though. I won’t spoil it for you.
Also, they’ve made a lot of changes over the years (some bigger than others, lol) but one is that the third robot periodically changes. The current third is called Zer0. He has a few songs of his own… Shattered Stars, Lyin’ Awake, and Intertwined. I think Lyin’ Awake and Intertwined would make the best listening without video, mostly because they’ve released audio only videos of them where Shattered Stars is a bop but has a fun lil video along with it.

There's a lot of good suggestions here. You can't go wrong with any of the suggestions. I'm going to make a different suggestion though. Just for fun look up the videos of them performing at the San Diego Zoo and the older ones of them busking in Balboa Park. In Balboa park they did a "version" of Mac the Knife that is amusing. At the zoo they perform one of their story songs, Rex Marksley. In this one, the silver guy sings lead and his twin, Bunny (aka Isabella) sings a mean bass harmony. (Isabella is transgender and transitioned back in 2014.)
As someone else mentioned, they took a mime class while at community college and fell in love with it. They took the class seeral times and used to do childrens' camps, performing as cowboys, pirates, and robots. Since then, theyve contacted their mime instructor for advice on how to improve their performances and to help the new guy get up to speed.

They were actually trained in the art of mime I believe, that was where they started working on this act. They used to busk in a park with a hat for money, and have been working on the act since. The spine(the one on the left with the guitar) and rabbit (the one in the middle that does the lead vocals in this song) are twins, and have been in the group the entire time. The jon(the only one left..lol) was the member during this and the other song I saw you reacted to, but there have been many other members like upgrade, hatchworth, and currently zer0. They somehow all bring their own feel to the group, while still keeping the group's sound.

I think the next song of theirs that you'd most like next would definitely be "Lyin Awake". It was one of their first song released with their newest member leading, who is easily the most soulful this group has had. It doesn't have a video either it just takes you away :). Just watched both this and your video on Brass Goggles and since I finished BG I knew Lyin Awake would be the song for you.

Also if you want to hear some of their newer (relatively) songs, some of my favorites are Fancy Shoes (featuring another member of their band who you haven't seen yet), Hot on the Trail and Fire Fire (showing off Spine aka silver guy's insane skills), Malfunction and Transform (with the new and improved Rabbit) and Lyin' Awake, by their newest band member!

Regarding the topic of opening their mouths more widely, to resemble machines, at about 4:19, I think the way Rabbit's mouth is painted accentuates the appearance of a wider mouth. My personal favourite is still Brass Goggles, the first I ever saw, but Automatonic Electronic and Fire are also really good.

For the most part, Steam Powered Giraffe does mostly fun love songs, though sometimes they can be on the more serious side, like with "Hot on the Trail (acoustic)", would recommend that one. Otherwise, pretty much any of their cover songs are good, "Lyin' Awake" from their latest album 1896 is good, "I Don't Have A Name For It" is silly and fun as well.
