@@traceysmith365 I have bought Gutterman HT2 glue from fabric and crafts shops as well as from Amazon. I havd seen other people use E6000, but I have never tried it. I think other "super glues" could work, as long as they are not liquid and soak the fabric. I hope you find it 😊

Thanks for this project. Your directions are clear and easy to folloew. I am considering using the fleeceand vilene stabilizer (shown with yellow bag). I cannot find the vilene you mentioned on line. Also vilene is water soluable so won't it vanish if bag is washed?
Hello 😊 . If you cannot get Vilene 205, you can use Pellon 808. They are different brands of the same kind of product. I never heard of Vilene being soluble, it is widely used for these kind of crafts and even for making clothes, that is what it is made for. However, if you wash your item too many times, it might come lose or a bit wrinkled. It is important to iron it on according to the manufacturer's instructions and wait for about 20 minutes for it to cool down and fuse properly before start working with the fabric. I bought some several years ago from a website in Hong Kong. Google for hand bag making supplies, haberdashery, etc. The purse frame has to be "open channel". 😊

Years ago I got a closed channel frame and I just could't use it. I tried by leaving the top edge of the pouch without interfacing (about 1/4"), but it was very difficult to push it into the channel and I didn 't like the result, it didn't seem tidy and secure enough. I know that some people use tools to open the channel, I tried that, but I scratched the frame. I recommend investing in a new frame. 😊

😀 Just try a low tack masking tape (the kind used for DIY) to cover the frame from glue spillage. Make sure that the glue you use is not liquid, you don't want it to soak the fabric, also read the instructions on the label. You might want to do a test first as well. Happy sewing 😊
What measurements do I use for the pellon and the fusible fleece? I know with fusible fleece you covered the entire length but left a gap on both sides of the width.
Hi, the gap is to avoid extra bulk when you sew the seams (it is optional, but it works better for me), the gap is as big as the seam allowance, so when you sew you do it along the edge of the pellon. I do not leave a gap on the other edges because they will go inside the chanel of the frame and I find that the bag fits better and securely (snugly) without leaving a gap inside the frame. If I were to use a thick fabric, I would leave a gap on those edges as well . You could make a test by puting a piece of fabric together with some pellon into the gap of the frame and you will see what I mean. I hope I explained it properly. 😊

Yes, you can. Cut the lace and satin to size and sew them together on all edges, so that you work with them as one piece. Test the satin with the stabilizer first as it might be damaged with the heat of the iron. If that happens, you might have to sew a stabilizer instead (around all edges). If you do that, I would recomend to to cut the stabilizer about 1/4" shorter on all sizes (seam allowance), so that you do not get too much bulk when sewing the bag. I hope this helps. Yes, you can use faux leather, but I recomend checking that it is not the kind that stretches. Also , the wring side should be a cotton mix where you can iron fusible fleece or interfacing. It is important to test the fabric first , because it could melt with the heat of the iron.

I just checked and they have silver and antique brass 8" x 2.5" at the moment. They are based in Hong Kong, but the delivery to the UK is very quick. Also, you could try Etsy , I saw a shop called "Upstyle" (I believe) selling these frames. Previously, I bought from Aliexpress (from China). They were always very helpful, but the delivery takes a long time to the UK (are you in the USA ?). I stopped buying from them because their website kept failing. Depending on the amount you want to buy, it is worth just Googling , you might find independent shops selling at reasonable price. Sometimes the frames are not described as "open channel", but if the sides are of the dimensions I described, they should be ok. Long sides ( in relation to the width of the frame itself ) normally more than 3 1/2" indicate a close or narrow channel. YOU DO NOT WANT THAT !!! I hope that this is helpful. Regards, Marcela
