Louie at fault for all of this. She helped him sell his first brick. She was the one that went to Teddy behind Saint's back which led to him being robbed. She manipulated tf out of Jerome too. Idgaf what anyone says, Louie's the villain in this story and the fact that she was not held accountable for any of this pisses me tf off. At least Oso and Lee had a decent ending. RIP Unc Rome.
In my opinion it was much better keeping her alive now she has to live with all the trauma and damage she has done thinking about Jerome death every day, also while watching her back as she on the run. Much better than just ending her misery
That scene while he visited his mom for the 2nd time in jail is insane, i keep rewatching it. The screaming from him, and the silence of Cissy combined just really makes the scene.

He could’ve took the L and dipped with 800k, and lived good with his lady and baby. He probably would’ve been a millionaire again if he sold the downtown property. But pride, greed and arrogance had fully consumed him by then.
Franklin my nigga but he FUCKED UP by putting 73 million in that offshore bank account Smh… This is Why Ghost from Power was “That Nigga” He knew and was proficient in Cleaning his Dirty Money 💵 without having offshore accounts and could not be tied to any crime and was legitimately clean 🧼 at the end of the series.. Franklin knew how to make that money and profits but had 0 ideas on how to hide his money nor wisely invest his money or wash his dirty money and had to ask Avi on how to clean his money.. Teddy knew this and took advantage of this…. Someone like Ghost would of never have gotten jacked by Teddy and would of gotten rid of Teddy easily…
@@gsmoneybabyxxl7575 Franklin never kept his money in one account tho lol. When he found out his money was missing he told V “ALL” the accounts have been wiped clean. Teddy broke into his office and stole all the account information and that’s why V mom said Teddy had help moving the money cause he couldn’t clean all the accounts out by himself that quick. Offshore account or not Teddy was going to rob him regardless
We can say it is easy to walk away with 800k, since the vast majority of us would never see that amount of money ever in life. But from Franklin's perspective, with all the things he did and went through to get that 73 million, walking away with just 800k is unfathomable.
It wasn't just ego and feelings. Franklin was delusional and dealing with actual mental illness by the end. Even after Veronique left him, Franklin could have still sold the Spring Street property and recouped at least a couple or few million. Letting that property go into foreclosure was just plain crazy. Even crazier was the fact that on probably the exact same day the bank was foreclosing on the Spring Street property, Franklin killed three people in Monrovia trying to recover funds from the crackhead (Peaches) who had robbed him a year earlier.
@@Saint0999 They tried to do too much in the finale. I didn't have a problem with Franklin's outcome, but instead with how they got there. They fleshed out every other storyline in season 6 and then glossed over whatever was going on with Franklin to the point that some of his actions seemed out of character and bizarre to the audience. In addition, two essential scenes were missing. They should have had Cissy speak her truth about why she shot Teddy at the exact moment she did, maybe in her conversation with Leon. They could have had Havemeyer reveal what was really going on at that park, maybe in a conversation with another colleague at the CIA. The storylines with the DEA and the KGB basically went up and smoke at the end, and some of that could have been cut earlier in season 6 to give us what we needed in the finale.
Understood but money flows in and out, there’s always another opportunity to make more. He had a clean way to do it this time via the investments and properties he owned but chose greed
@@notorietymachine you mean ADR, happens more times than you think in film, sometimes the priority is the shot and not the audio, so additional dialogue recording gets done in post, also why actors get paid so much, because they gotta perform it exactly as it's shot.
Honestly speaking I'm a huge fan of Franklin but when you think of the things that he had done, from taking the elderly couple's library and selling it, to kicking people out of the shelter to find his father. He really did deserve his end. Plus the series had given us all of the possible consequences of being in the drug game. Death= Jerome, Life on the run = Louie, Poverty = Franklin, Prison = Cissy and Redemption by leaving your life to be a better person= Leon.
I truly do think that if franklin ended up getting his half he would’ve just lived a good life with his family. After all he was the way he way because he wanted his money and I feel like if he got it he wouldn’t not have stayed that way. In reality eveb though cissys message was right she tried to imply that msg way to late. So yes you can say she ruined his life.
@@InitiationcanceledFranklin was far gone anyways at that point like Leon said he was going to put hisself in a predicament that he couldn’t pull himself from .. and so he did
So I rewatched the entire show again.. money doesn’t change us, it just makes us more of what we already are. Franklin always thought Leon and everyone was beneath him. Remember the book Leon asked him to read and he never touched? Franklin was already on a high horse and had no sense of responsibility.. which were the traits that made him wealthy. The fact that Franklin thought he could just walk away from this game after everyone told him you can’t just exit this game.. shows how Franklin always thought he was untouchable. He was like this from the beginning Edit: this is also a scene when Franklin is joking about Leon saving money in a shoe box, which is irnonic because if Franklin did stash money in an “old school” manner he wouldn’t have been left with nothing
It’s ironic because it was actually his overestimation of/higher expectations for Teddy that began his downfall. He believed Teddy to be a man of integrity and thought they had a mutual respect. Teddy took advantage of that and showed Franklin that he saw him the way Franklin saw everyone else.
You're right about that if Franklin did stash money in an “old school” manner he wouldn’t have been left with nothing. I do believe that it is peaches and mel dad fault that frankin change his way of stashing money.
The cosmic joke of it is that the $12,000 in the safe is just the right amount he'd need to buy another brick. Franklin's right back at the start again.
not really, only reason he could buy them that cheap in s1 was cuz avi was getting it from teddy who was selling it cheap af compared to 99% of other dealers, also by this point he had no gang, no family, no friends, so he couldn't even rock it all up by himself.
@@H-MAN-yn3okI’m sure Saint could have came up with a plan to make money off of that. The alcohol had him in a headlock and he was going through the Trauma of losing $73 million despite all he had to do to gain that money. He still had 800k in properties. Could’ve easily became a millionaire again just off that but he had no intentions of starting over. Really hope they bring his character back at some point to give him a redemption arc. Seeing him walk off like that in the last episode still hurts to watch lol.
The thing that always gets me is the parallels between Teddy and Franklin. Just how Teddy felt he could take the money from Franklin because it was basically his operation is the same thing Franklin tells everyone when he needs the money from them. Robbed Jerome and Louie with the same mentality Tedddy had for him.
Franklin was truly a product of his environment to an almost text book level, AVI once told him that what makes Franklin special is that fact he has the choice to be anything he wants, i believe this is largely due to the vast variety of positive and negative influences in his life, Franklin was empty plot of land ready to be built upon, truly multifaceted and very talented individual, everyone loved Franklin, believed in Franklin and respected Franklin, but unfortunately everyone saw the Strength and potential in Franklin Saint but Franklin himself - You would think that more than any other character in this show, Franklin himself would have the ability to reform and come back from rock bottom yet he was the only character in the show that couldn't, Leon, Cissy, Oso, Jerome, Skully, Alton and Wanda all escaped but Franklin wasn't able too, which I think is the deepest and best plot point for me.
@darkswaggboss9059 that may be your interpretation of it but their circumstances were ultimately made worse by Franklin, when Franklin had to make sacrifeces, he sacrificed the people closest to him, and 1 by 1 they left him - you may be forgetting that every single person in Franklins life had a part in making him into the person he became, stop looking at Franklin as a person and more like an investment becausebthats truly what he was - and the proof in this theory is that, once everyone started to leave whether they died or otherwise his situation only got worse, Franklin was the Ship and the people around him were his crew, with no crew to sail a ship, it wont stay a float - Greed and Entitlement destroyed him and it didnt have too, his family told him countless times to leave whilst he was ahead and he did not listen - but they say absolute power corrupts absolutely and its Tragic because Franklin had it all but didnt see it until he lost it
@@darkswaggboss9059everyone else changed, regardless if Franklin made sacrifices or not. His mother sacrificed herself so he could do the same. Also, Jerome was on the precipice of realizing his position as implied by his final conversation with Franklin and Alton very well did come to this realization. Franklin has not even sniffed this
I’m at the start of the video, and I’ll CLEARLY state this now. Franklin did not ruin his relationship with Louie (and Jerome by proxy). Louie was always a snake going behind Jerome’s back to make big decisions on her own, and it was her choice to undercut Franklin that ruined their relationship (which is the only reason Franklin even spiraled the way he did mentally).
Eh. The business ending in fire was Louie’s fault. But u just objectively didn’t watch the show if u think that’s the reason why Franklin lost his mind. Lmao he was corrupted almost fully by season 5, but of Louie didn’t go behind his back and create that domino effect of bull shit, he prolly would have been aight. But Franklin since season 4 lost himself. Killing without even flinching. A super controlling and maniacal kingpin. Franklin through lost himself do to greed, arrogance and pride. Franklin didn’t have to lose everything if he didn’t continue to go deeper down that hole bro lmao. So na. It isn’t ALL Louie’s fault but she is a big part
@@Saint0999 You wrote this whole comment just to be wrong because you don’t know what “spiraled” means. When someone “spirals”, it is typically in relation to a descent into madness or something of the sort. I was specifically talking about the increasing desperation and self-destructive behaviors that led to him becoming a mirror of his father at the end of the show. Franklin was a lot of things before his empire began to crumble, but he was neither reckless nor impulsive by the time we see him at the top of the game. It was Louie’s (and subsequently Teddy’s) betrayal that turned him into that.
I love how people's biggest issue with Louie is that she was never punished or held accountable, but those same people completely absolve Franklin of blame at every turn. Franklin knows what he is and y'all do too, y'all get blinded by the money and power just like him. Franklin started all of this. He went off on his own and learned how to cook rock, taught others in the neighborhood and sold it to people in the neighborhood. Louie only had power because Franklin gave it to her. Franklin caused his own downfall through and through.
The ending of "Snowfall" is so great. Its like, you (the viewer) feels that Franklin deserves this downfall but part of you, also, kind of sympathizes with him. Very powerful storytelling. Truly amazing.
I feel like with all the REAL crimes going on he deserved it but from a fictional standpoint & character development in general the unconnected dots make no sense. Imo the last 2 episodes were missing a lot of important things, still an S Tier show though
The finale of snowfall kinda showed peoples character. There werent many people around me who understood the psychology of this nor did they blame Franklin at all. They blamed everyone BUT him. This show was so good on so many levels I never been so into a show and had the opportunity to analyze the psyche. It’s so deep.
From the moment Kevin’s little cousin got killed and Franklin didn’t want to avenge them, I knew he’d cause his own downfall, to me it showed even from that single action all he cared about was money and himself, no compassion
I don't think Franklin was any worse than Louie Jerome or Teddy. He should have hid his money and not tell anyone where it was. I would have left town and started a new life. Why can't a Blackman catch a break even though he was selling illegal drugs. The worst of all was Louie. She was jealous of Franklin and pulled Jerome from his family. She blamed him for everything.
@@alakirthewindlord7828I think he made the right decision not avenging them,he did,but you’re right there was no compassion at all he didn’t really empathise with Kevin much and that’s where his problems lie
@@27hiddenintheleaves I can agree it was the right decision logically, but you’re right, the issue was the lack of compassion, he didn’t give a fuck they died, he had an “I told you so” attitude, really set the tone of Franklin’s character and personally I could tell from then he wouldn’t get some mad happy ending, and he didn’t deserve one
The irony of $12k is that was to cost of Franklins’ first ki. As if he could startup all over again. I think that’s why he expressed a painful laugh and then weep before killing the innocents at Peaches’ safe.
I hate how Louie could not take accountability for herself she kept blaming Franklin for every inconvenience when she was just facing the consequences of HER OWN sneaky actions
A lot of folks haven’t realized something. Cissy decision was a selfish one. She did it cuz of the feelings for Alton & cuz teddy didn’t see her as a threat. It had nothing to do with Franklin it was all about her. When you rewatch the seasons multiple times you book that
That’s what makes me so angry about people saying she “sacrificed” herself. The same impact would’ve been felt had she waited 10 more seconds. Her and Louie really did it for me.
facts that’s why she asked him about alton where abouts right before she shot him but he was lying all along .if he would have told her he going to tell her once he gets to safety she wouldn’t have killed him. bcuz she was hoping alton was alive.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think what a lot of people dismiss about Franklin is that he’s incredibly young, he’s roughly 19-23 between seasons. To expect him to be this mastermind, seasoned kingpin with all these contingencies for hard times is giving him wayyyyy too much credit. Yes he was intelligent and calculated, but in reality he was still a kid. Character hadn’t even turned 25 yet before his downfall
nah franklin had the potential to do this he took himself and his people out of trouble multiple time in the beginning it was showing that he was fighting his good nature all the time to be the person he needed to be in order to run his business he was doing everything to hold his head high but by season 4 he wasnt fighting anymore. it was just who he was, and because he had lost that connection to who he once was he could only end the way that he did. a shell of a man.
That’s old as shit considering the time period. They were younger than that selling drugs in the 80’s. I’m talking about 14/15 year olds building drug empires!
My interpretation of why Sissy on why she killed teddy was how he lied about Alton. Teddy was able to masterfully convince Sissy who is the most stubborn person in the show to believe Alton was still alive. Once he told her the truth, She realized that Teddy was still manipulating Franklin. So I’m her last loving act as his mother she killed him to protect Franklin
Yup. Teddy was already planning to leave the CIA, abscond with the cash and marry Parissa. The call was to make the final transfer into his account, and then have the Agency sic the hounds on Franklin while lying down on a beach earning 20% lol
In my opinion, Franklin’s pride and arrogance ultimately was his hubris. Granted Louie played a part as a catalyst in certain situations but ultimately she wanted her autonomy just like Franklin; but because he thought he was smarter than everyone and trusted the wrong ppl essentially, he caused his great demise. He also underestimated too many ppl, Leon included. Definitely a cautionary tale about excess and greed. Great documentary.
She wanted "autonomy" because she wanted to take what Franklin already had and attempt to expand it into other major cities. Doubling or even tripling the money for herself. Franklin was in too deep to let that happen. Plus, Louie was not Franklin, she eventually would've got used and rolled over by Teddy and anybody else. You're selling heavy weight and got assassins tracking you down riding horses? Louie would've got wacked quick once she was considered useless.
Greed ? He risked his life and freedom building an empire and right when he was about to be out and be at peace they took eveything from him and he is greedy for wanting bsck what he rightfull earned
If someone steals $73M dollars from you any sane man will go insane and do everything in there power to get that money back and go after the person who stole it from you. Franklin tried to leave the game but everyone around him fucked him and kept putting him down in the end he lost it and had to pursue the only thing that mattered most to him money. Louie is another person who caused the downfall of Franklin she had everything money, power, respect but still that wasn’t enough she wanted the ultimate power and wanted to become Franklin, she never acknowledged she has all this because of Franklin and she betrays him by going behind his back to Teddy. The question is if you was Franklin and you get robbed of $73M dollars are you going to forget everything and live you’re life when you have the motherfucker tied up and his willing to give you $37M dollars I don’t think you are, Franklin’s mom and Leon are telling him to stop and reassure him but they weren’t in his position they didn’t lose everything he worked for. Franklin did what he had to and in the process he lost everything and became the one thing he didn’t want to be his father, an alcoholic, non existent to society but saying that if the people around him we’re loyal and didn’t fuck him the downfall would’ve never happened imo.
Losing 78 million would send anyone over the edge. I have to admit that I have been guilty criticizing Franklin's inability to regroup after losing that money, because Franklin really didn't have to end up in the gutter. Franklin showed poor judgment before and after Teddy took his money. Keeping tens of millions of illegal money *in banks* was foolish, as was repatriating that money to build a whole skyscraper in downtown LA. In addition, Franklin failed to take heed to what happened to Grady, and Franklin also should have had multiple stash locations with various confidants knowing about certain ones in particular and only Franklin knowing about all of them. Teddy screwed up too. How do you steal someone's $73 million and don't leave town? When Teddy told Franklin during the torture session that he thought he could live with the consequences, Teddy revealed his own naivete about what the consequences could be. After Franklin failed to recover his money from Teddy, it was time for Franklin to regroup. Even after Veronique took Franklin's $800k, Franklin still had the option of selling the Spring Street property and recouping some of the more than $10 million he had invested in that project. Letting their property go into foreclosure was way deeper than alcoholism. Franklin was both delusional and crazy by that point. Even crazier was that Franklin killed three people in Monrovia trying to get money back from a crackhead who robbed him probably a year earlier on the exact day (give or take a day) the bank was foreclosing on the Spring Street property.
But that still doesn't make his actions justified. Just because someone steals from you doesn't give you the right to torchure, maim, kill, or even steal from them back.
@@rubennn1 Because that's one of the most common but unknown details with alcoholics. Everybody thinks their eyes turn yellow, but one of their eyes usually begins to turn bloodhot
Literally just finished watching the show finale and even though the ending upsetted me and yeah i can go off on all the people that made it out alive, i'll just say overall it was a 9/10 series for me, don't think i'll ever rewatch it but Franklin telling Leon that he was proud of him and both of em shedding tears was the most heartbreaking scene ever.
I wanna tip my hat off to you sir. This was an amazing, well spoken, beautifully edited documentary. You did an amazing job with this. I loved how you went as deep as to explain the psychology behind Franklin. Overall. Outstanding video and performance by you. Thank you for making this.
Here's what everyone either forget to pay attention to or didn't carefully watched this particular episode that I'm gonna say right now. Season 5 Episode 7. That was the episode where Teddy started to steal Franklin's money. Teddy has a 2 min convo with William about what William needed from him without actually saying that he was planning on stealing Franklin's money. Check out that episode again.
Yes, so many people forgot that Teddy put the wheels in motion to take Franklin's money before Franklin told Teddy he was leaving the game and before Louis approached Teddy about taking over as distributor. Teddy took all of Franklin's money to kill the Spring Street project and because Teddy never intended to let Franklin ride off into the sunset with that $73 million. Franklin didn't take heed to what happened to Grady and ended up with almost the same outcome. It was CIA standard operating procedures for mules who stepped out of line or outlived their usefulness -- screw or eliminate the mule, and seize their assets.
Yessir. Teddy wanted to eliminate Franklin since the Alton-Irene Abe debacle. It probably was one of his main reasons for keeping tabs on LA during his exile. Then when he got shot by Kane's crew that was the final straw. The scene you mentioned is a slight detail that most people miss in even in the rewatches. Luckily for me, I've watched this show over almost ten times lol! Teddy was going to burn Franklin regardless. The series of events between episode 8-10 in season 5, including Franklin threatening to kill him just sped up the process.

Obviously Franklin made a lot of terrible decisions and ultimately deserved his fate, at least on a karmaic level. From a business standpoint though, Franklin never f*cked anyone that didn’t deserve it. So, let’s not pretend that everyone but Leon, Oso and Jerome didn’t betray him at one point or another. My point being, if everyone just shut up and did what Franklin said, there’s a much higher chance all of the characters in the show would be alive and wealthy instead of dead or in jail with their “pride”

I tried to watch Snowfall, couldn’t get into it, but saw how impactful it was on social media, how the ending affected people so it led me here to get an understanding. Franklin saw himself become the villain. From being not able to hurt his own enemy to slaughtering an innocent man, and from despising his father as a teen to growing to become his father. He became the villain he despised in every stage of his life. Thank you for this break down
Was thinking about Franklin again at work today. Tbh Franklin could never be free in real life because he would have some many enemies. He killed so many ppl and ruined some many families. I can see a random enemy he didn’t even know about killing him cuz of somebody he killed years ago
Having grown up around poverty I am extremely sympathetic towards Franklin becoming the monster he became. When you got nothing and claw yourself to the top and usually through horrible means. You bleed for it and bleed others for it. You give up on your morality and live with constant cognative dissonance it distorts you. Once you taste the power and respect money gives you it is hard to not get addicted to it, reason for it when you have fuck all and people treat you like a second class citizen you grow resentment towards them and then you have it all they come to you because you are now the powerful one, the rich one and the one who can make things happen. When you are in a lifestyle that Franklin was the gangster ones loyalty becomes the most valuable currency because one person can end it all and it's even more so the case when most of your criminal associates are your blood relatives, childhood friends and inlaws. Betrayal from those will sting so deep because they know fully what you and themselves been through to get there and this is how many real life underworld feuds start and in some cultures become generational blood feuds within parts of a family or between two connected families. I honestly loved this show and the dynamic of Franklin and Leon since it is very realistic. I can't fully relate to it since I am not African American however so much resonates with poor people all over the world, I've seen this play out and see it play out today with a new generation of drugs and drug dealers. Quite tragic if I am being completely honest however it is bound to happen over and over again until we can find it in ourselves to not treat those who are less wealthy or fortunate than us lessers but as equals.
What fucks me up about the end, is the fact he still had a home to go to. He could’ve legit gotten a regular ass job, and just live a simple life in a home he already had left. But clearly his ego took over, and fell. He wanted nothing to do with anything! And that was sad. Watching someone rise from the gutter, just to end up back in it and deeper than anyone else.
He may not have been able to get a job nobody would’ve hired a black man with those ties back then or maybe it was his fear of cia and being out in the open or it could be like he said “IM FREE” free of being told what to do
A regular job?? It’s *FRANKLIN SAINT* nigga! 😂 and by the way it’s not his ego…when you go from having $73M, a girl that’s down with the cause, a baby on the way, & his moms was a rider too at that point, to NOTHING (because he was in debt to everyone) anyone is going to lose their morality. Franklin ever since day 1 wanted to be free, in the end that’s how he felt

Louie is one of the biggest reason why this all happened, going back to the earlier seasons she left Jerome to go with Claudia all because Louie was being greedy and wanted all the money then fast forward she went behind Franklin back to teddy even when Franklin offered her a 50-50 split. Greed took over her and it caused her to lose Jerome

Yeah ,one key part I seen tho was at the end even though he looked defeated he said "I'm finally free'" . Despite all he went through and betrayal he found himself after
Yes it was his fault. The entire point of these videos was to highlight franklin’s greed and the fact that he didn’t even need to start selling to begin with. From the moment he started sellin drugs. EVERYTHING in his life after was a consequence of that initial choice
Franklins biggest mistake was always announcing his plans to people, before he took any action. Everything could've been prevented if he moved all his money *First* and then told Teddy he was retiring. Same with Veronique. He told he everything and she drained his accounts (in her case rightfully so) before he could do anything

Ngl, This was really a great watch. I finished season 6 a few weeks ago, but even thinking about all of this overwhelms me, still. Snowfall opened my eyes up even wider to how important the arcs of each character in any body of work are. To me, a filmmaker/actor/artist, the details you’ve shone light on in this video and the previous Dark Psychology of Franklin, make my point even clearer that nothing good comes out of rushing, and if I want to be impactful in any way, I must continue to focus on the road less traveled (by that I mean continuing to learn, instead of looking for the “easy way”
He was in too deep tbh . This was a great breakdown but honestly he got betrayed by everybody that could’ve helped him or held him down. He definitely played a big part & he obviously did a lot of dirt. He was honestly doomed from the start when he had to sell for Teddy!

It's crazy, ask most any brotha who grew up in the hood during the crack era knows several major ballers who have nothing now. I got in and thank God immediately got out. But, I know brothas who were bringing down more than a million month for a couple years went to prison and got out homeless. Worth 10 to 15 million at 23 and living in their mom's house 30 years later.
This was SO damn good!! Made me want to start the whole series over. Hands down my favorite series ever yes Snowfall knocked Sex and the City down a peg!! East coast v West coast lol. Wonderful doc esp your commentary about why Cissy killed Teddy.
Even tho I can acknowledge that Franklin became a monster, it still broke my heart to see bro go down like he did, an alcoholic bum just like his dad, without a cent to his name after becoming arguably one of the most powerful drug kingpins of his day, truly a sad sad cautionary tale that pride comes before the fall.
Arvi: “Never get too greedy, Franklin. The moment you do that, They found your weakness, You lost your advantage.” Arvi tried to warn Franklin but he didn’t see it
If he would have went to jail or ended up getting killed off, it would have been predictable. The ending he had was fitting, but the idea of him getting hooked to crack instead of alcohol wouldn't have been too far-fetched.
I thought that was what was gonna happen after the spoilers on Instagram of how he looked I thought teddy or fbi was gonna drug him and make him addicted to crack or heroin to make him crazy and his stories seem fake like he is delusional and nobody takes him serious as he withers away his existence known as a drug addict who used to have it all and makes up government spy stories lol
The crack epidemic was over technically. I mean the worst of it was in the 80s and by the time Franklin is broke it’s the 90s, so it wasn’t as prevalent
I think the saddest part is in the end, Leon offers to help him. Leon offers to buy the house, pay the property taxes and cover his debts and help him get better. But Franklin turned it down, accepting things for what they are, or accepting it as a form of punishment. “You’re my best friend, and I’m proud of you.” No matter how far he fell, Franklin still loved the ones he was closest to.
Cissy was correct but her tyming stunk...She didn't save Franklin cause he ended up on skid row, she killed teddy purely outta revenge cause if it was 4 Franklin she could've killed him in the warehouse away 4rom prying eyes where she could've gotten away clean (And there was acid there to dissolve the body) but killing him in public was the dumbest thing if she was trying to save Franklin...Letting him get his money back would've saved him he would've went legit (All the evidences points to this) After she learned the true fate of Alton she lost it at that moment and did what she did and has NOTHING to show 4 it, Alton dead, Franklin homeless & an alcoholic, life tyme in prison & Jerome dead again the DUMBEST thing she could eva do...At least by letting Franklin get his money back it would've save him 4rom the terrible fate he now finds himself in...Just sayin...
Crissy got what she deserved. Her hypocrisy of preaching to Franklin then participating and benefiting in his illegal gains ultimately lead to her situation. This was HER karma.
@@JWisdomI always personally felt that Franklin should of had a back up money like the profits from the rent money from his building properties or at least from his drug dealing business like stash of $100k from each corner spots making $500k a month $6 million dollars a year and never told anyone not Veronica, Cissy,or anyone else for that matter
@@JWisdombut personally after everything goes for him and after finding a lousy $12k in peaches house I always felt he should of taken what ever jewelry peaches had and sold what ever expensive jewelry peaches May of had he could of gone back to selling weed again make money that way maybe not millions of dollars but at least making $18k a week $72k a month because there was still a lot of marajauana smokers
Honestly, the character development of Franklin in this series was one of the most well written and thoughtful I’ve ever seen in a TV show. The only thing that didn’t make sense to me was why Franklin decided to forego any help from Veranique at the end. At that time, he still owned all of his rental properties and several other homes in South Central. He also had an opportunity to sell his stake in the downtown building. Even if he sold it for half of what he originally invested (roughly $6M), he would have still been a millionaire. Once you combine those funds with his cash on hand (estimated at just under $1M since V took $800k), he is still in a good position financially and completely out of the drug game. I know that he was on the bottle at that point and not thinking clearly but he seemed to have lost all of his intelligence and critical thinking skills as well, which is something that the show never clearly articulated. Still the ending was mostly brilliant and I enjoyed the show.
It’s because of pride and greed. He knew this, but that wasn’t what he wanted. He wanted it all, the empire he built. After all those years, the blood, sweat, and tears. He wasn’t about to settle for that after being $73 million dollars rich. Such a great show.❤
Franklin and Cissy’s segment made me tear up. I relate to growing up with my mom being awesome and her being my hero. Money and revenge was truly his downfall
I think Cissy was trying to teach a moral lesson to her son even though her killing teddy was emotional.Even if he got it he would always be on the run and bring more problems to his family.I think thats why she never said anything to him at all when he visited the prison...
IMO I don’t think teddy was ever going to give Franklin money, when sissy asked Teddy to call Alton and he confessed he lied without remorse, she already knew how it was going to end, why not protect her son ? He was going to die anyways I think she didn’t talk to him because every time he visited her it was about money, and not about how her, his wife and everyone else felt, completely selfish.
what really makes a man is how you get up when you get knocked down. Franklin never saw the wrong in his ways. It got to the point of no return when he lost morals. In the scene were hes tripping and predicts his future clearly depicts how he couldn’t go back at that point. Franklin wouldve killed anyone or stole from anyone to get that money back. He wouldnt have done that in the first season. this is why its so important to have self reflection and to have moments where you remember your human and that there are ways to be a better person.
The reason why he was so successful in the beginning was because of the foundation he had before the money and drugs. He was just a go getter who wanted to make money with his family without taking anyone’s life. in the drug game your gonna get forced to do things that change you as a person. And The more he changed and not learning anything , the more the reality of him failing and losing everything became more likely. Killing and stealing from people you love does something to any sane human being. It could be good if you can learn from it and try to become a better person like leon. But if you dont you will most definitely end up like franklin.
Franklin was on 100 and wasn’t heeding advice from those closest to him since the beginning… the only thing that could stop him, outside of Teddy stealing his money was what his mother did. He became a raging psychopath with no morale. That’s not safe for anyone to be around. He had almost a mil in his account and properties to sell yet not even his girl could reason with him, like chill we’re good we can get it back. No, he listened to no one. Just like Teddy. So Cissy gave Teddy the public execution that his ex-wife promised him when She said, give Franklin his money and walk away or I’m going to publicly execute u myself. Didn’t listen. Both Franklin and Teddy completely lost their minds and they ended up where they needed to. Cissy knew her involvement with creating the narcissist and took her judgment as she should have. Franklin destroyed too much to truly have a good life. Not even including the entire community he destroyed.. greedy asshole. And he never read the dam book😂
I agree with every single word of this. I have to add that Franklin was extremely unwise in putting $73 million *in banks.* Teddy and the CIA never had any interest in letting Franklin ride off into the sunset with $73 million and full knowledge of their operations. Franklin needed multiple stash locations with various confidants (Veronique, Cissy, etc.) knowing about certain ones in particular, but with only Franklin knowing about all of them.
I truly just don’t think y’all understand how finances work nor did you pay attention to the show, THEY OWED MORE MONEY THAN FRANKLIN COULD NATURALLY MAKE, a lot of times In Real Life successful people will live at the top, flashy jewelry, cars, clothes, houses, then if they’re smart they’ll slow down & eventually retire. Franklin in the span of 3-5 Years worked hard for $73M…, he had a kid on the way, businesses to run, that’s not a point when you randomly switch up your lifestyle, he was too deep in. Also to inform y’all THE DAY CISSY KILLED TEDDY it was the beginning to the end, it literally started his alcoholism, he was never in his right mind to “get it back” (which was NEVER happening)😂
This is the greatest review, essay, summary, anything ive ever seen dedicated to something I hold very very close to my heart ive ever seen man. I genuinely hope you know that.
After thinking about it for a few weeks i honestly think it was franklins fault and the betrayals he faced at the end that turned him into that bum at the end. At first I thought it was just Franklin ego and him becoming a monster but then I realized that he was pushed to do what he did because everyone betrayed him, his mom, v, teddy, etc.
Cissy didn’t realize if they had killed Teddy before Franklin got the money like she originally wanted to they was all goin to jail. 2.Teddy & the CIA would’ve killed all of them if Franklin just let him go without getting the 30 million at least. The money was their best protection cuz Teddy wasn’t gon let Franklin get away with torturing him
I JUST finished this show, and OMG!!! And I only watched it because of the "bodies bodies" clip I see all the time, it got me curious. So when I heard it was created by John singleton and it's set in L.A. in the 80's, well shit, that's my literal childhood. I was on board. I never thought this would be a psychological lesson in greed and pride. This is a masterclass in long term story-telling and writing. The parallels between this and Breaking Bad are so true and yet so different, it's amazing. I have had some people say they were disappointed in the ending to snowfall, they want something more dramatic happening to Franklin. Which tells me these people don't know shit about writing or story. Franklin getting a happy ending makes no sense. And him getting killed in big war or shootout makes less sense. No, him ending up like his father, something he desised, makes perfect sense. Him being at the top and doing some of the worse things to get there, just to lose it all, plus his family, and all his property, shows what the drug game really is about. It's not just about death. It's about living in your own hell, which is the very place Franklin lives in. I'm watching everything again right now. In my opinion, better than Breaking Bad.
Most people are living out of a survival mindset and will never truly understand the weight of wholeheartedly making a decision with the full intent of accepting any and every consequence so they can learn to navigate the world by making better decisions. Failure is the first step in success. Those who have only ever succeeded cannot replicate their success, so they are utterly destroyed by failure. Those who have failed their way to success learn the right and wrong way to go about things and how and when to maintain and let things go to grow and develop different opportunities. When these people fail, they analyze their failure learn the mistakes they made in it and the traps they didn't see that led to it and build again using this new knowledge and perspective and reach success. Franklin is such an intelligent guy and that is why his fall is difficult to see because he had all of the necessary components to be and remain successful and at such a young age too, but he could not except the things he should have and there was always someone available for him to blame his faults on because he was surrounded by faulty people but thus is life. He was naive to think he could trust the man that was a part of the establishment that was trying to bring him down. He was naive to think the government actually needed him to build their illegal slush fund to wage wars on other countries. He was naive to think that hording control would not lead to loss of control from the people around him. Every billionaire story always shows that the billionaire hit there number by handing over full authority of different aspects of their business to others who are just as qualified if not more to fully run that part of the business while they the billionaire would sit on the board of directors to maintain the focus of the business and add funds, guidance and sometimes removing unnecessary problems whether it be people, groups of people, systems or other business relationships. You never get to that point if you don't know how gto accept the parts you play in every failure that arises. Had he let the boy die so the man could live he could have escaped his tragic ending.
He ended up just like his father in the beginning, I like to think later in life Franklin will redeem himself like his father did and would even make a good part 2 story possibly.
Full circle. The final scene is on the same street Franklin grew up. Remember in the first episode the scene with Franklin and all of his friends and the ice cream truck. Remember the frame where the camera pans out and we see all of the palm trees. And it eneded in the same place it started with Franklin in the frame and the same palm trees in the background… so sad
I love the way this video is structured. Going over the relationship of Franklin with the other characters while simultaneous explain his downfall chronologically is genius and was executed well. Subscribed
this is the greatest show i can’t find myself to finish. i’ve been drip feeding myself episodes since the final season’s release. i’ve seen how franklin ends up and in most, if not all ways, deserves the ending he got but it still hurts seeing this downward spiral. amazing show, and great video.
The major problem with this is that Franklin and his actions are justified throughout the show until the people that benefited from those actions no longer needed him both physically and emotionally. They drove him to this end because of their internal drives for money, power, respect and revenge which turned him into what we see now because their love for him were tied to those things. Once those things became all he could think of himself when everything was taken from him (for his final exit plan) instead of everyone just giving him a piece of their cake/pie so he wouldn’t descend into an abyss of internal disparity they openly threw their hands up to the man that gave them everything they had. This sparked his lone wolf mentality and ultimately led to these outcomes as each one eventually realized their wrong doings at the worst moments of his descent. At any moment and I mean ANY MOMENT any of his friends or family could have taken him out of the situation and off the chess board out of direct harms way but none of them do as even in their self realizations they leave him floundering with no exit strategic just deep emotional regret and pleas. That’s not what motivates someone that’s had no direction but his own for years while lifting up his entire family out of poverty, he’s smarter than that and emotional plights aren’t the singular way to appease his thirst for both revenge and his now lack of empathy. If they wanted to tame this now savage beast they should’ve actually came with a plan and not just tears and love. They were way past that 🤦🏿♂️
Louie at fault for all of this.
Franklins biggest mistake was not killing her
And he still was a real one letting her know she was bout to get raided
In my opinion it was much better keeping her alive now she has to live with all the trauma and damage she has done thinking about Jerome death every day, also while watching her back as she on the run. Much better than just ending her misery

He weren’t tryna accept a $73M L understandably

True but he coulda make it back. Better then sinking completely and losing your mind in the process.

He was like this from the beginning
Edit: this is also a scene when Franklin is joking about Leon saving money in a shoe box, which is irnonic because if Franklin did stash money in an “old school” manner he wouldn’t have been left with nothing
It’s ironic because it was actually his overestimation of/higher expectations for Teddy that began his downfall. He believed Teddy to be a man of integrity and thought they had a mutual respect. Teddy took advantage of that and showed Franklin that he saw him the way Franklin saw everyone else.
Best fucking comment...i just know you're great to talk too

not really, only reason he could buy them that cheap in s1 was cuz avi was getting it from teddy who was selling it cheap af compared to 99% of other dealers, also by this point he had no gang, no family, no friends, so he couldn't even rock it all up by himself.
@@H-MAN-yn3okI’m sure Saint could have came up with a plan to make money off of that.
Amazing analysis🔥🔥
Genuinely very good breakdown
Everyone you named either died or only escaped because of Franklin sacrifices
Louie was always a snake going behind Jerome’s back to make big decisions on her own, and it was her choice to undercut Franklin that ruined their relationship (which is the only reason Franklin even spiraled the way he did mentally).
w

@@MichelleMayo-m9gLouie is the root of all evil

That’s women for ya sadly
@@SuisLBC nah that’s just louie
Damn that is true...
she literally said she wanted teddy to know it was her who ended him in the kitchen scene
Wrong
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think what a lot of people dismiss about Franklin is that he’s incredibly young, he’s roughly 19-23 between seasons. To expect him to be this mastermind, seasoned kingpin with all these contingencies for hard times is giving him wayyyyy too much credit. Yes he was intelligent and calculated, but in reality he was still a kid. Character hadn’t even turned 25 yet before his downfall
yea people use alot of words to describe him but naive is the most definitive to me too.
nah franklin had the potential to do this he took himself and his people out of trouble multiple time in the beginning it was showing that he was fighting his good nature all the time to be the person he needed to be in order to run his business he was doing everything to hold his head high but by season 4 he wasnt fighting anymore. it was just who he was, and because he had lost that connection to who he once was he could only end the way that he did. a shell of a man.
I never thought about this, you've convinced me as well
Right! In other words Franklin was never getting that money
Never thought of that but that is definitely what was going to happen. Would have been worth it to explain that to Franklin though.
Ur smart
That didn’t give her an excuse to not help him when he needed it. Especially when she prompted teddy to take all his money.
Tell the other black women bashers this. They're blaming Louie, and not holding Franklin accountable lol. Why am I not surprised lmao
It was all Louie fault honestly the true main antagonist of the story
Facts these people talking don't understand and don't put themselves in the situation to understand
@@ricaldoritchiebasketballvl651 lack of empathy runs rampant nowadays

At the time we couldn't know what it was about though. It actually looked like he wanted to transfer other funds

U could've left that beginning statement out.
A lot of street dudes end up living in their same hood until they die. In Cali, it really be like that
Having grown up around poverty I am extremely sympathetic towards Franklin becoming the monster he became.
Bro this is a amazing analysis on Franklin downfall. Coming from a fans perspective of crime dramas.
Such a great show.❤
Exactly what I was thinking
This is a proper breakdown of this epic show.
Well done, sir.
great video bro the ending of snowfall has been in my mind for weeks
Franklin and Cissy’s segment made me tear up. I relate to growing up with my mom being awesome and her being my hero. Money and revenge was truly his downfall
Best analysis Chanel on RUclips hands down. I be watching vids on shows I ain’t even seen just because the breakdown is so real and deep.
Much love bro❤️
i was looking forward to your full breakdown this show was perfect
I think Cissy was trying to teach a moral lesson to her son even though her killing teddy was emotional.Even if he got it he would always be on the run and bring more problems to his family.I think thats why she never said anything to him at all when he visited the prison...
IMO I don’t think teddy was ever going to give Franklin money, when sissy asked Teddy to call Alton and he confessed he lied without remorse, she already knew how it was going to end, why not protect her son ? He was going to die anyways
I think she didn’t talk to him because every time he visited her it was about money, and not about how her, his wife and everyone else felt, completely selfish.
Jeromes death hurt so bad cause he was a real one all through.
louie was jerome downfall
Jerome was Jerome downfall, he should’ve man’d up and took his own advice “the trouble that come with that brick 🧱 ain’t worth it “ hint hint (Jerome)
@@millionairesdreamassociation True
Franklin should've kept Cici out of his business his dad too.
Franklin should’ve immediately moved out, once he started slanging big time
His dad was right
Let’s make it clear Louie never gave af about him she’s the reason why shit went south..
what really makes a man is how you get up when you get knocked down.
Also like to add this show deserves way more praise and recognition than it has received. The writing directing and actor was award winning.
Keep up the good work on ur channel man ur changing lives that includes myn thank you
This is the greatest review, essay, summary, anything ive ever seen dedicated to something I hold very very close to my heart ive ever seen man. I genuinely hope you know that.
He should of never told teddy he was quitting
He should have never let teddy tell him where to put his money
Solid work man! Been watching you for a while now and glad to see a British essay channel do well 🤝🔥
After thinking about it for a few weeks i honestly think it was franklins fault and the betrayals he faced at the end that turned him into that bum at the end. At first I thought it was just Franklin ego and him becoming a monster but then I realized that he was pushed to do what he did because everyone betrayed him, his mom, v, teddy, etc.
Exactly idk how people be saying he deserves this, he was betrayed and fucked over by EVERYONE he trusted
He betrayed them as well
@@papaadot9369betrayal works in one way😂 and who’d Franklin betray, that he was actually CLOSE TO?? Skully & Manboy??
Cissy didn’t realize if they had killed Teddy before Franklin got the money like she originally wanted to they was all goin to jail. 2.Teddy & the CIA would’ve killed all of them if Franklin just let him go without getting the 30 million at least. The money was their best protection cuz Teddy wasn’t gon let Franklin get away with torturing him
One of the best psychological documentaries RUclips has to offer thank you 💯💯
I JUST finished this show, and OMG!!!
❤
This is such an in-depth and articulated video about the downfall of Franklin. Just subbed from this 1 video alone! Looking forward to watching more.
To not have is tough, but to have and lose it all is unbearable.
This video was so beautifully & eloquently done. Thoroughly enjoyed this 🙏
This show was so deep🔥 & the break down of it is EVERYTHING 💪🏾
This is the best I've seen so far.
this show is a modern day Shakespearean tragedy💔. Cant wait to rewatch this in 5 years man.
He ended up just like his father in the beginning, I like to think later in life Franklin will redeem himself like his father did and would even make a good part 2 story possibly.
I don't think so
Full circle.
I’m so happy you made this video. When the season wrapped, I was waiting on your analogy.
I feel electrified just watching the begging of the video, already knowing what happened I can just appreciate how amazing this story was told.
I love the way this video is structured. Going over the relationship of Franklin with the other characters while simultaneous explain his downfall chronologically is genius and was executed well. Subscribed
Excellent character analysis dude 💯
this is the greatest show i can’t find myself to finish. i’ve been drip feeding myself episodes since the final season’s release. i’ve seen how franklin ends up and in most, if not all ways, deserves the ending he got but it still hurts seeing this downward spiral. amazing show, and great video.
They were way past that 🤦🏿♂️
This just made me depressed honestly. I haven’t watched the last two seasons strictly because I just can’t watch Franklin go out like that.
I watched Snowfall and this breakdown was PHENOMENAL 👏🏿
Bro you deserve a hell lot more recognition and applaud for this . Excellent content. Look forward to the growth of this channel .
