It's always very interesting to see which songs went to number one in different countries, you find songs where you never would had guessed that they hit the top of the charts. Thanks for another great video! 😀
Yes you would of, by TV documentaries, Teletext, going to other countries on holiday over the years, + people bringing back mags from other countries with top 40 chart inside which a number of us did in primary school.....etc
Now this is an interesting choice. I'd love to see Austria or Ireland. Thank you for this - very fascinating video 👍 Good to see the Swiss appreciate 'Master Blaster'. One of Stevie's finest. Telly Savalas is pretty random mind. 'In The Air Tonight' is a classic. They fell for the Stars on 45 medley didn't they? UK must have been the country who didn't put it first. 'For Your Eyes Only' - my favourite Bond Theme and an elegant ballad. Glad to see some love for this. Good to see the Swiss favour the haunting 'Cambodia' too. Not surprised they liked Nicole's winner and you can see the cross over with German and Austria's respective industries that's because of the mutual bond of a language / culture. Good to see some love for Culture Club and Eddy Grant here. I do think would have 'L'italiano' would have won Eurovision for Italy in 1983? I prefer Laura's version of 'Self Control' over RAF. Good to see 'Take On Me' first somewhere too! I do like 'Jeanny' even if it's a very dark song. 'Adesso tu' - amazing. 'Touch Me' a classic. Whitney, Madge, Pet Shop Boys - of course amazing songs. 'Boys' is a catchy song but we know why it was a hit. 'China In Your Hand' my absolute fave, but too many to choose from. 'Bring Me Eidelweiss', that I knew would be top there without being stereotypical. 14 weeks for Lambda, wow! Bar a few rubbish songs, the Swiss surprise you!
Love this, when you ready of course do all chart entires in each year of the 80's please! Looking forward to The Netherlands one when you get to it from 1980-89 😁
@@paultreadaway102 He hasn't, I have seen it and seen video history of what he uploaded etc He did -number one songs from the 80's in The Netherlands. But not all chart entries from 1980-89 yet 😁
Absolutely amazed to see House Arrest by Krush at number one for two weeks - I absolutely love that song, but I never thought it was a chart topper anywhere! It only got to number 3 here in the UK. Also glad to see Talk Talk's Such a Shame was a deserved number 1 - it was a total flop in the UK and only got to number 49!
Swiss has style great list im surprised at least a couple of Acts out of Switzerland didn't top their lists which they should have like Double and Yello surprising maybe one or two other acts they are huge all over the World to be part of the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s
Buena selección, hay varias canciones que están muy bien. Los que más me gustan de este vídeo son Shakin Stevens y Munchener Freiheit y los que menos Milli Vanilli
Merci Francis for this great Swiss # 1s 80s. But you make a little mistake. Samantha Fox hit Touch me was a #1 hit for four weeks in Switzerland not for one week. Can you make a video #1 Switzerland 70s?
Indeed you are right. I took my source in Wikipedia but I figure they made a mistake. I compare to the official charts and Touch me stayed 4 weeks at number 1 followed by Bananarama, like you wrote. For Wikipedia Peter Gabriel stayed 3 weeks at number one between Samantha Fox and Bananarama, Sledgehammer peaked only number 4. I don't know why they got wrong. Maybe a huge fan of Peter Gabriel made the article. Thanks for the information.

3:09 farewell dear Vangelis, you've found your way to homes and souls of so many fans devoted to 80's music.......
RIP
I don't think it was the English version of "99 Luftballons" that went to #1 (which would make sense, given that it's Switzerland and all).
Wieder einmal eine Zeitreise in meine Jugendzeit. Tolle Songs!

I had no idea there was an alternative version of "Come back and stay" video.

very good channel bro, like "Some Random Guy" awesome!
Hold up.
Kojak had a #1 hit in Switzerland?
Hi! Nice video, stay connected! 🙂
Could you do Greece's Billboard in 80s next?
Go make more #1 80's/90's songs in which country. Like Austria, Australia, South Africa, Europe, etc.

Great video!!!
Thank you for sharing with us charts from different countries!!!!
Bit surprised that Down Under hit #1 in mid-1982, nearly a year before the UK.
I think it was originally released in Australia in 1981.
@@peterm2776 It was indeed. But the Swiss cottoned on to it before the UK.
There are 4 Italian songs that have never reached number 1 in Italy.
These include Gazebo (max number 2) and Sabrina Salerno (max number 4)
So tell it to my heart was number one in other countries but only made it to number seven in the USwtf
it didn't make it to number 1 either in Australia and New Zealand
@@alistairrodgerfairbrother2479 it should’ve been number one everywhere! It’s one of the best songs ever written! No I can’t let you go

In 1983 Nena was number 1 with 99 Luftballons (the german version). The english version didnt even exist at that time...
Francis, we all do 12:31 to you for everything you have done so far on this channel.
That brings back memories.. most of the music charts was more less the same around the world
But love the video mate

Roxette ROX!!!
Wait what? Flaco with Rock Me Amadeus was not a number 1 hit in Switzerland?
Is it about the air play ranking ...?
Can you do Number one 80's songs in Ireland?
Aen septiembre de este mismo año cumplía los 7 añitos
Da hats die Schweizer Superband Yello nicht einmal auf 1 geschafft
Roxette number one in Switzerland, but not in sweden...said,nobody si i a prophet in his land..
I doubt it that the Dutch version of “Ein bißchen Frieden”, nor the English versions of “99 Luftballons” and “Major Tom” were in the Swiss Charts. 👎
