Obvious, probably, but just in case you need the info, it's 'I'm Blue and Lonesome', composed by Georgia White and Richard M. Jones in 1938. It's on Tuba Skinny's CD 'Blue Chime Stomp'. AND they perform it in G - a key eschewed by most jazz bands.
Thanks again! I always appreciate your knowlede about all this titles of the early days of jazz. Thanks for your blog: playing-traditional-jazz.blogspot.com/
I LIKE THIS SONG. THIS SOUNDS LIKE REAL OLD MUSIC WHICH IS GREAT. I LIKE HOW YOU SING IT AND THE SOUND OF THE BAND AS WELL. ITS NICE AND SLOW AND OLD SOUNDING. YOUR VOICE REMINDS ME OF SOMEONE BUT I CANT THINK OF HER NAME OFF HAND. THE TRUMPETS SOUND GOOD. IT JUST CAME TO ME THE NAME OF WHO YOU REMIND ME OF, K D LANG.
Hi all.. That's the voice I"m sure the angels at the pearly gates sound like , sung by an Angel and instruments played by talented musicians . Merry Christmas to you all Having been my constant companions during this Pandemic please keep safe.(Melb Australia) 🐸
TY for posting !! I like this song from the first moment, I heard this tune from Tuba Skinny and Erika. I play this tune now sometimes on my concerts in Germany, so next Saturday again.
What I like about this current version of personnel, their awareness level of their role. The rhythm section is very tight at any tempo. Solos by the clarinet an
To finish that thought, solos by the clarinet, cornet and trombone are in the style of the music and each knows the difference between solo and support. Erica’s voice was meant for this style. She not only projects well but give soul to the song at the same time. Keep evolving, tweaking arrangements and finding new songs.
Jes' don't git no better'n this!!! Till this bunch plays next week. Their progress, on all levels, in just 10 years, is stupendous!!! At about 4:00 Shaye signals 3 fingers down. Meaning change to Eb??????
But, if you listen carefully, you will find they stay in G - the key used all along. So that signal is a bit of a mystery. Probably she means that - to bring the performance to an end - they are to play just the last eight bars of the song, instead of going right from the beginning again; and that's what they do.
That key change signal has always sorta confused me. Does x up/down mean x sharps/flats period or to CHANGE that many. e.g. 2 down from F goes to Eb? 2 up goes from G to E. @@PopsCoffee
@@shurshot2764 It doesn't mean 'change that many'. Down is flats; Up is sharps. So two fingers down means the key that uses two flats (i.e. Bb). But the incident in this video at 4 mins, though it looks like a key signal, obviously is something quite different - almost certainly their way of saying 'play just the final eight bars of the tune'.
Stupendous! Comparable, maybe, with some classical jazz records. Apart from the not high acoustic quality (especially the too low sound level of Erica's wonderful voice). The great Ewan's clarinet is elegant and very jazzy.
This version is so much better than the one on the CD
Good to see and hear Ewan Bleach with the group again. Not every NO street band can bring in a dep from England if Craig wants some time off!
Another immortal classic so well performed and sung! This is a gem .
Dit is zo goed ,die stem van Erika.Top band Tuba Skinny!
What a mighty voice, at least 30ft off the Band recorded and every word´s clear
Check that exquisite muted cornet under Erika's vocals.y
Come non si può amare Erika❤❤❤❤❤❤

Unusual construction. Bluesy in sound, but not a blues. Twenty four bars long. Lovely melody.
