The cuff only has two sizes. As such it doesn’t cup the back of the skate in certain sizes properly. In the 7-8 shell, the cuff has nothing to stop it flopping forward with the cuff in the high setting. Drop it down to the lower setting and it hugs the back of the skate and functions in the way I like a cuff to, some give/some resistance. It’s a similar thing to the sway, whereas the sway boot mold/wings were soft and spaced apart at the back of the skate allowing the cuff to sink forwards, with the aeon it’s that that the cuff is sat back from the boot and isn’t close enough for the back of the skate to provide any resistance
That backslide on the rail was 🔥🔥, those cuff flaps have pre marked lines on the back so you can cut sections off but that’s only necessary if they’re bottoming out when you tighten them up.
@@wheelsceneblading are both flaps touching each other and stopping you going any tighter? If so then it’s worth cutting a pre marked section off, you can do it with decent scissors.
With the forward lean ans buckle i found the same thing I had to cut some of the cuff off to get the buckle to work correctly I have the aeon basics 60 If you do a hockey lace up you can get it tighter, does not fix the forward lean though
i broke my kizer buckle after about a month of skating. the plastic snapped where it screws onto the cuff. now, i will be on my third set of buckles on the same pair of aeons.
Yes. missed a lock on a ledge and it just snapped off... i love USD and aeons in particular, but i really wish they would fix the buckle issue...@@wheelsceneblading
Adjusting the cuff doesn't make all that much difference to the forward flex on this skate, at least in my opinion. I found both up and down to feel relatively similar.
All the issues you mentioned i also had, but i still love Aeons regardless. Glad to see they seem to have sorted out the tongue on that model of liner.
It’s only really a couple of things and it’s definitely not stopping me enjoying the skate, I just need to dial in the setup so it works best for what I want.
@@wheelsceneblading yeah i put some intuition premiums in mine which stops that mad forward flex so much and added some Sliqx sliders and flat set up of chroma Yandriel wheels. The crofts looks so good though! Sick to see them some with a premium liner and sams pro wheels. Wish more pro models would come with the pros parts like that.
Great skating. Thanks for the details about the wheels amd liners. Do you think the front of the buckle is protected? It looks like the molded protection on the cuff exposes the front of the buckle
I've got the lomax greys since they came out. Once you slap in the intuition premium, sliqx sliders and find a street ledge that's never been skated on and groove them up nicely. I think they need to fix the shell. Too much forward flex, h block goove too high and souls slide like kaka. The only thing going for that skate is the responsiveness, especially when fitting intuition liner.
Looks like you might have the cuff flaps reversed. The receiver end should be in front of the buckle end. I have no trouble getting my aeon80s super tight
The forward flex of Aeons is weird...I eventually got used to it but its not good. I hear there is an Aeon 2 coming in the next 12 months...hopefully the new one addresses the issue.
I don't get on with aeons even when thir fully tight I don't feel an support from the boot. Iv just switched to the new 2024 team sway an much prefer them I barely have to tighten them at all an feel loads more support
I love 45 straps. laces are over rated imo. If I got that model id want to order them with a carbon free 45, but they're never in stock when I would look.
@@wheelsceneblading lol, I wish I was that cool. Im used to setting up laces once when you first get them. And imo 45 straps actually work great to hold the foot in the correct way for me. I think the long hockey laces put the pressure in a wrong spot for me. I think the 45 doesn't get the love it deserves. tho I have heard that a buckle style is more likely to be damaged, the strap from the carbon free's work really well. I skated a ton of k2's back in the day, and Salomon's.
it's easy, if you only play the black keys, that's a Gb pentatonic scale. if you only play the white keys, you're playing in C major. Give it a try!@@wheelsceneblading

I have the basics
Unsure if you can get a lower setting
I do not like the flex it throws me off balance..
Will try after reading your comment
Killing it as always Dave! White/light coloured skates actually kinda suit you 🙌
That is what I said. They fit his "dress code"

I am tightening them as far as they will go but it still doesn’t quite feel tight enough.

Are we able to adjust the height of the cuff to trt and sort forward flex?

It's too early to say, but I do have an issue with breaking that part the most, so we will soon see.

I actually thought that might be the issue, so I tried both ways and I definitely can't get it any tighter.
Do you usually have so many bladers in the park (I wish) or you got a crew together?
Hahahahahahaha! No, that was a rare treat. There were almost 20 skaters there. It was crazy.

I have heard the same rumour!
What’s your opinion on how the souls slide?
When they’re brand new they slide fine. The real test will be how they feel after a couple of months.
I think these look better on you than the sways
