      Her calling the clock was one thing. Then she tried justifying it saying she was short. If Norman was correct in saying her chip stack at that point, 50 big blinds is in NO WAY considered short. Then she shoves top pair Jack kicker into Eastgate’s top set for her roughly 4 million plus chip stack not long after. Then again, we as the viewing audience don’t know how long in reality Snead tanked for.

      When the action on the flop with a 1.7 million chip pot goes: bet 500,000, call, and 2.8 million shove second pair is rarely the best hand. You don't need exceptional poker skills or the ability to read minds to know that calling with second pair in that spot is a negative EV play.
      My hunch is that Philips wanted to needle Tiffany by acting like he got away from a bigger hand than she had. It's as if he's saying it was obvious to him that Eastgate had a monster but Tiffany, the lesser skilled player, couldn't figure that out. @@YourPalJamieEllis no doubt. Lucky Chewy was just talking about that before the last 2 days of the WPT championship. He said the last couple of deep runs he had made in long MTT's he was much more fatigued and made worse decisions. So he focused everything on eating well, sleeping well and keeping his composure. Finished 3rd for 2.8 million, and if he'd won a flip with AK against jacks he wins the whole thing most likely. Maybe the most underrated part of long term success in that discipline..

    • @6thwilbury2331
      @6thwilbury2331 8 месяцев назад

      To me, it's very similar to the Moneymaker hand against Dutch Boyd five years prior. The preflop action was such that Bishop raised and Chino flatted. So Bishop reduced the likelihood of all high pocket pairs (which he alludes to in his tabletalk) and probably figures Chino isn't likely check-shoving if he has a 98 suited type of hand or hand like 77.
      There are only possible backdoor flush draws, and Bishop has the most likely straight draw (67) blocked, so the most likely holding for Chino is pure air. Add to this Chino's reputation of being spewy in general. Bishop might have also discounted the possibility of the three sets, as Chino wouldn't not want to blow an opponent off a middling hand.
      Not saying it's an easy call for Bishop, I'm just guessing that's how he got there.

    Okay, something I maybe dont understand...but....alot of times when someone pushes, the caller is said to "have the right price to call" or "priced in" as if that matters in a tournament. Now, I understand a pro who plays dozens of tournaments a year probably plays each hand according to a long-term view, so is always wanting to be getting the right price to call, however, relative to the rest of the players in the current tournament, short-term luck plays a massive role in winning or losing. I guess playing the long game over time SHOULD work in your favor, eventually, BUT...just because you are getting the right "price" to call for your tournament life, seems pretty irrelevant to me. More relevant is how the pusher has been playing, your stack size relative to the remaining players, and your risk tolerance for getting squadouched out of the tourny at that particular moment. If you think you are beat, then what does the price you are getting matter? Again, I realize this might make sense if you play many tournaments, so you only call when you are getting correct pot odds relative to your drawing odds.....just bothers me when the commentators say it constantly
