It does make sense. Because while we do see plenty of robots made by robitnick I’m pretty sure none of them would have the energy needed to move as fast as sonic. Especially in the first movie where he used one of Sonic’s quills to power his hover craft to move about as fast as Sonic to begin with

Actually the Biolizard is the to first and last final boss in Sonic adventure 2 last story. The Final boss is called the Final Hazard where is has merged with the Space Colony ARK and grow out of the tip of the Eclipse Cannon like some kind of tumor.

If biolizard is the ending villain then all the scenes we see in the film are early scenes since Shadow is fighting with everyone. But then film people are good at hiding things and intentionally changing scenes specifically for trailers.

I'm assuming that Dr. Gerald is going to be a semi-antagonist in this movie since he's most likely looking for revenge for Maria. I know that in the games, Dr. Gerald wasn't a villain, but he has every reason to want to get even against the guys that got his granddaughter killed and try to help his grandson Ivo/Eggman.
There's a bit too many "shadow the hedgehog" references for Metal to be the "secret boss" of the film without a big push. But again, that route isn't too bad since the theme being completely centered about shadow's creation may be the spark needed for the Doctor to start his own "make your hedgehog" project after observing what's going on here...Or he will start right as "papa is back" happens like a good ol (grand)father-(grand)son DIY afternoon project, how wholesome. xD

Dark story, I played both and both the hero and dark stories had the bio lizard. In the middle story had the bio is it as the true final boss with both sonic and shadow going super to defeat them together together
