The high topspin Nadal generates on his backhand cause the ball to have high rotation. When it hit the net, the net was strong enough to prevent the ball from going over, but this just increased the rotation and hence the spin, causing some backspin. When the ball bounced on Rafa's side, that backspin came into play causing it to go over after bouncing on Rafa's side.
I love how Nadal is like "I dont think so!" So fast and never gives up. Wow, and that last one Nadal was honest about the shot staying on his side. Nice.
Im a retired grandmother and I have done two of these shots within the last 10 yrs. First one was on purpose with a HUGE amount of spin put on it (i knew it wd spin but i didnt know it would bounce back over) the opponent was totally bamboozled! the second time was a lot of spin but it wasnt intentional; drat!
Bonus #2 must be shot by Paire against Simon in Paris 2015. Nevertheless ball was not jumped back it is still the most impressive and beautiful combination by Benoit. Bonus shot so far... The ball almost bounced back, but stayed at the level of the net
Although the ones where they're intentionally hitting drop shots with loads of spin are the best (Mannarino and Dustin especially), I get a huge kick out of the accidental framed overheads that end up spinning back. To think they go down as winners haha.
right I have a question, when the ball goes back over the net you are allowed to lean over and hit the ball, and if you hit it into the net you get the point because the ball is dead, but what happens if you hit it back over onto your side, do you have to hit it again, do you lose the point, answers please
Interesting question , the thing is this doesn't happen that often and when it happens the opponent will most of the time not reach the ball in time or give up on the point Would be nice if someone actually tried what you said in an official match so we can see what happens

Amazing that the makers of this video found all these shots but left off the best two ever filmed: Tsitsipas's from 2024 and Raonic's from a year or two earlier. Both those were successful returns of balls that spun back over the net.
@@Joga11Bonito When the ball travels back to the other side you are allowed to reach over the net and make contact with the ball, you can hit it to the ground and opponent can continue the rally or you can hit the ball into the net and win the point automatically
If your opponent is able to touch the ball before it lands back into your court inside the play area, then your opponent gets the point, otherwise you get the point. However, I don’t think it’s legal to reach over the net like Nadal did to touch the ball. Also, if you hit a ball and it goes out of the court and bounces off a pole or the back wall and then back into your opponent’s court, you win the point. Also, if you hit your opponent with the ball, you win the point.

It literally bounced on Rafa side first...

Berdych and Nadal, what a love story
I like how the ballboy on the left in the Federer dropshot knew which side of the net to go to mid flight
He guessed
There's a Santoro one vs Seppi, 1st round in Doha 2008. Actually Le Magicien trademarked it as a classic of his repertoire.

Bro this video was made 3 years ago
One time I was playing match I done a drop shot that went back over the net
I’ve done it a few times in practice but have never attempted it in a game
0:43 the smash dropshot
Has anyone ever returned one of these shots?
4:15 so whats good about it was..the camera angle 😁
6:18 👀
On that first shot, I think Del Potro could have reached over to hit the ball if he was thinking quickly enough.
Not a problem for Nadal and Sinner
When we see "UNIQUE shots" we know that Brown will be there
Want to who wins the point in this scenario if it goes outside after bounce back or if if its inside
Can i throw the racket to hit the ball while it is on the way back to the opponent's court???
It's more common than I realized.
Karlovic did it once against Anderson in Bogotá 2013 SF
The ones that aren't framed are much more impressive.
If only somebody could figure out how to do one of those on purpose...
D. brown
Easy to do when the opponent hits a heavy spin but slow speed ball
a couple of these were on purpose
@@awateilrahc yes extremely easy 😂

Miss Roger so much!! Fortunately THIEM is there otherwise I would have stopped watching tennis
Now I've seen everything - goffin smile
Is it against rules to hit the ball once it is on the other side of the net ?
Nop, the player has to wait until the ball has crossed to their side before they can hit it but once it's done it they can reach if necessary
Don't know tennis rules. So if it backs over net in bounds does hitter still get point?
That last clip is so odd what even
the 🐐 Dustin brown isn't on this list!?!?!....... unacceptable!!!....... edit: he actually is on the list!!! 🐐😎
He is there hahaha
nevermind I found him at 6:24 😎

Can a player jump the net and hit the ball then?
If they touch their opponent’s side of the court they lose the point instantly
Of course nadal gets there to slap it home

I thought it’s not legal to reach over the net like Nadal did?
Actual title: “Rodger Federer hitting shots back over the net for 8 minutes”
👍👍👍
I’ve done that and I’m not even that good
Sometimes it’s just helped by other factors like how powerful the shot you’re returning is and also if you shank it u can sometimes accidentally do it
How could they be UNIQUE if they are 21?
It is unique because of 21.000.000.000etc shots that have already been done in atp tour ;) a very small percent of this kind of shots can be seen
