About In Vain:
Hailing from Kristiansand, Norway, In Vain has been a pioneering force in Norwegian progressive extreme metal since 2003. Founded by guitarist Johnar Haaland and vocalist Andreas Frigstad, the band's melodic extreme metal sound, set them apart early on.
In 2007, In Vain released their first full-length album, "The Latter Rain", a collaborative effort with nearly 20 guest musicians, showcasing their prowess in diverse, progressive arrangements. Subsequent albums like "Mantra" (2010) and "Ænigma" (2013) continued to push musical boundaries.
"Currents", a double-edition masterpiece exploring contemporary societal shifts was then released in 2018. Declared "Album of the Year" and garnered perfect scores from various publications worldwide, including 10/10 ratings from Metal Temple (UK), Metal Only (GER), and Heavy-Metal.de (GER) to name a few.
With a rich history of live performances, including European tours with Solefald, Borknagar, Vreid and Keep of Kalessin. In Vain remains a powerhouse in extreme metal, captivating audiences with their dynamic compositions, and their reputation as a force in progressive extreme metal is firmly established. I can not stop listening to this song. It's so good. The performances, the songwriting, the production. One of the best songs of the year. I discovered In Vain initially because I am a giant Lars Nedland fan and learned that Sindre is his brother! I am so glad I found In Vain!!!!

Incredible. I remember driving through the US, through the Rockies for the first time in Colorado, listening to Ænigma front to back. Such an epic experience, and this video gives me those vibes (including what I was going through at the time.) Something tells me this will be the “Dune: Part 2” to Ænigma. Progressive Metal just hit a new bar

@@Mattsquatch We've always loved using brass sections (like in a jazz band NY style), but not necessarily go full orchestra style..

It's like you're doing the same thing a handful of punk bands like Snuff or Suicide Machines did by throwing that brass element in there in a way that doesn't detract from the core feeling of the music! You've managed to implement it in a way that's traditional to the instrument, yet it enhances a different form of music in a way you never would have seen coming, much less would have thought actually works! Nothing but praise for what you do 🤘

Does this song talk about anxiety disorders such as: obsessive compulsive disorder, agoraphobia, social phobia, panic disorder, ptsd and eventually depression?
This is my own interpretation. If so, I can relate totally as I'm struggling with both agoraphobia/social phobia and severe depression. During my deepest low, I was unable to leave my own apartment for 3 months straight. 90 days without seeing a single ray of light. It's destroying my life but this song gives me hope. Well done!
