I have been trying to fix that and background noise for a while now, that headset is about 3 or 4 years old. The thing is that if I lower the volume of the mic in windows, others have a hard time hearing me in games / on dc. But on stream and in recordings it does sound much too loud. I hope I haven't raped your ears too hard, they're tight and quite enjoyable though.

If you like the headset part you could always invest in a mod mic they are pretty good
Thanks for the info, will look into that. But my priority would be to get an ok quality with what I have right now.
