Xenoverse 1 was pretty much unplayable online. I was playing on ps3. I remember choosing a Namekian as my main character when the game first launched. That was a mistake for online play because their standard combos that knocked back would never work. I kept playing and found a small Namekian could use the knockback move that every character can use and dash behind to start combos to make up for 1 combo they can't do online, unfortunately you get shorter reach but move faster which allowed the dash behind to connect. I got really good online as Namekian. I kept finding male earthlings online that would just guard a lot because they have faster recovery speed on attacks. That's all they did because combos were unreliable. But it still feels good that I experienced the online at the time it's nostalgic.

for the goku vs freeza thing, iirc goku was also shown to still be damaged and exhausted, (which makes sense with how fast the fight escalated) meaning he hasn't gotten his full zenkai and is weaker than the original.

the stat system is off cause of the all systems in play (damage capping) were you can't do over a set amount of damage to a target at one time. Xenoverse 3 hopeful they do it they need to overhaul the stats and Gear system.
It's ludicrous that so many complaints about the first game were never fixed in the second... people say xenoverse 2 improved so much from 1 but it really didn't
I always enjoy the quality of your videos. I can only imagine the amount of work that goes into what you do but as a subscriber of yours, it's very admirable. Hope you do Xenoverse 2 next!
Regardless of all these criticisms that are valid, I still love this game. I loved Goku popping in even if it was for no reason so that I could fight with a character I loved. I loved the way the characters acknowledged me when I went back in time even if it made no sense story wise. I think this game was simply made for the cool factor, and it worked for a younger me at least. Great video tho
@@HiddenChannel they made him a preorder exclusive so unless you got him day one you’re out of luck, even if by some chance you get a brand new sealed copy today the code already expired so toughs. Blemish on an otherwise stellar first entry of a game. Great upload tho, gonna binge this later tonight 😌
At Xenoverse 2 didn't have this problem. Even with it's pre-order bonus of Goku Black base form. They made him a separate DLC later on. On PC, I admit.
After so many hours playing Xenoverse 2, I had forgotten all the quality of life changes they made from the first game. Mentors don’t spawn randomly, all the main gameplay elements are in one corner of the hub city, there’s fast travel points to jump around the hub city with, you can eventually fly around the massive hub! Hell, you return to the hub a small distance from the desk whether you just played PvP or PQs. It’s still not exactly perfect, but I do not miss all these now-repaired irks in the first game.
I think the big mistake in xeno one was that it looked like "oh no things are happening wierdly in the timeline and everything is stuffed up" making you think that you will have to fix events but still get to see the knock on effect as you go to fix future events rather than "someone is messing with the timeline, find out who, why, and try to save the day", while if you went into the game knowing this its fine going in at at release would cause some dissapointment and confusion
5:24 if you want to be canon, you would choose a red, spiked up haired (ultimate Gohan type hair) human male according to Xenoverse 2. It has this human specifically as the first option available, then gives a dev created male and female humans for 2nd and 3rd. Dev made Sayians (male and female) for 4&5. Dev made Majins for 6&7. Dev Namekian for 8th and dev Freiza race for 9th.
Hidden theirs a secret ending for Xenoverse were your character defeats Demigra without Goku. Thought I’d let you know because I feel that’s the better ending for Xenoverse. The requirement Is you have to defeat Demigra before Goku shows up.
To answer your question in regards to the online servers when this game first dropped. About as unstable for most people. I dunno why, but Xenoverse 1 is better for local play over online for the PvP stuff. Xenoverse 2 is better since they fixed most of the server issues and gave it a more MMO feel. Fun fact too: Xenoverse 1 started as an MMO game called Dragon Ball Online. Which focused on more of the time patroller lore, as well as being the debut of the female Majins. The MMO was cancelled but became the foundation for the Xenoverse series. Edit 1: Part of the appeal of Xenoverse as a series is mostly to go through the story of Dragon Ball Z as your created character. Xenoverse 1 does have the most interactions between the cast characters and your created character, such as Frieza grabbing them by the throat and tossing them aside or Ginyu trading bodies with your created character instead of Goku. Xenoverse 2 extends on this by including a few of the Movie villains as part of the base game (Turles, Slug, Janemba, and Z Broly for example), sometimes adding an additional twist to the plot since you have to contend with them on top of the regular villains. Edit 2: Chronoa (the Supreme Kai of Time's name, only mentioned in the Super Dragon Ball Heroes series, another game within the Time Patrol lore) has the ability to control and maintain time. She's like Zeno from Dragon Ball Super where her authority on time is absolute and wants to keep the balance of the universe by keeping events as they are meant to be. Regardless of whether Yajirobe cuts Vegeta's tail or Krillin does it, it does not matter as the result would be the same. These are rare instances where Chronoa will not mind changes in time as long as the result is the same. As a random headcanon, I imagine she creates the Parallel Quests as a fun little challenge for Time Patrollers and to entertain herself. You have to imagine watching the same events play out over and over again, does get pretty dull. Side note: Chronoa in Xenoverse 2 is a playable character but only when there's a Conton City tournament. And you have to beat this tournament *twice* to unlock her. Edit 3: The mouths (and general animations) not working is purely a PC problem. I play Switch and the animations work, for the most part, as intended, with at most lip syncing being an issue. For whatever reason, the PC ports for Xenoverse 1 and 2 have botched animations, where as the console versions work fairly well.
PQ's are actually you fixing minor changes in history, not Chronoa entertainment, but you can view it either way cuz it's still pretty vague who caused them, since In the main story you never fight alongside Imperfect Cell against Perfect Cell in the Cell games
This was great to watch thanks, your voice is calming. 😊 This brings back some good memories. I was excited and waiting for my pre-order copy of Xenoverse 1 for the ps3 that came with a poster and l got the gold and silver Saiyan armour that no one else can have, I didn't use it that much as later on you get better stuff to wear. I still wish I played it on the ps4 like everyone else but didn't have the money for it back then. When players complain about the graphics it was made for the ps3 not the ps4 and maybe not a lot of money to make it better at the time. I went with a Namekian as my main on a long journey. It was exciting at the time, and it was something new. I spent ages with the customisation and a enjoyable time making friends to play with. Unfortunately we all know the online experience was lacking and still is on Xenoverse 2, we complained about it all the time but never gets fixed 🤦♂️. I guess that's a money problem or they just didn't care about it. I still enjoyed playing online and worked around the problems, but it was a headache sometimes with lots of combos not working. Luckily, I like grinding in games, so it was ok. but the online is empty now and players have too much knowledge compared to what they knew at the beginning that made it fun. I wish I could go back and experience it the same way. I also wonder if my level 99 Namekian is in the lobby on ps3 helping other players still with my support build character. 🤔
If the Xenoverse campaign was more like how it was in the manga, it would be way more enjoyable and memorable. Trunks would achieve Super Saiyan God, we wouldn't have to go through the dragonball history over and over, and the Demon Realm is actually a prominent threat. Dragon Ball Heroes: Dark Demon Realm Mission did Xenoverse's story the right way.
Fun fact: Since XenoVerse and then XenoVerse 2 are actually in the future from Dragon Ball Heroes (in heroes TokiToki city and then Conton City haven't been created yet presumably) Trunks should already have Super Saiyan God and 3
I enjoy that game even though i really hate the RNG crap that makes Parallel Quests not respect players time. I avoided playing against people online in general. I love it whenever a game allows me to create my own character. It's insane that this game is already over 8 years old which i say geez' time flies. That was the very first game that i started streaming (on Twitch) for the first time if my memory serves me correctly but i quit streaming entirely.
Honestly my biggest issue with the way the powered up villians were portrayed was i feel just the purple aura would have been enough. The res eye glare is too much ontop of that imo.
Xenoverse 2 made farming the dragon balls slightly easier by the sound of things, in that one of the most reliable farming spots is on Namek and now it's "any mission where time patrollers can spawn", with the enemy patrollers generally being optional foes you have to challenge yourself on some missions and guaranteed battles on others.
I hope one day you will do a No More Heroes review series. It's one of my personal favorite games. I love you used on of the tracks being we are cowboy from No More Heroes 2.
There is another ending to the Demigra boss fight you get if you meet a certain condition without having Goku show up. The ending will have Gohan, Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, and Piccolo giving energy and powering up your character telling them not to give up and your character does the Kamehameha to finish Demigra.
This is a fantastic video and retrospective for the series, but if you are listening to it on headphones, the mosquito town that plays at 50 minutes into the video is blindingly painful.
I hate being the one saying "uh, actually" but the inconsistencies in the story you were complaining about is the whole point of the story with towa and mira, going about time travelling with demon magic and breaking all the rules, and my guess is supreme kai of time was not able to fix the scrolls with their magic interfering
As far as I can tell (I could absolutely be wrong) cell saga trunks doesn't actually travel through time he travels to a parallel world we're the time he wish to travel to is currently happening (explaining the discrepancies that would not have been effected by their explanation of time travel) what towa, chonoa, demigra, and later debura and fu is true time travel (going back in time to change events to alter the future) chonoa then lends this power to trunks and your c.a.c so they can do the same. And regarding Goku remembering you I think it's more of a deja vu since you fight alongside him more often than others and trunks was just watching you save his life through the scrolls so when you get back he says thanks
Yeah those parallel quest grinding was annoying. I wanted a specific move that was only available as a drop from a mission and only if you met special conditions during the mission that would cause an additional enemy to spawn at the end of the mission which in and of itself was not guaranteed to happen.
To clarify on the Frieza Saga incident The big reason that this is a "distortion" is that Frieza powered up too quickly, meaning Goku, who was resting after having been severely injured during the fight with Ginyu, had to leave early, *before* he was actually ready to fight. You can see that his body is still scuffed up in the cutscene I think him not achieving Super Saiyan is also implied, but even if he could, Frieza would just be stronger and Goku would still lose
I remember playing xenoverse on Xbox and I think it was like an upgraded tenkaichi game, I think the story was alright with the what if scenarios, and the fighter creator was a great feature although I kinda wished the frieza race would have transformations, because from what I remember you could unlock super saiyan if with the saiyan race, I remember struggling with the buu fight and it took me almost 2 hours to realize that I had to avoid fighting all three buus until the timer runs out.
Oh….you reminded me of that horrible Berrus and Whis fight..,and those annoying fights that took place once they got involved. Outside of Demigra cause I remember beating this guy easily for some reason..great review I really enjoyed it.
I loved Xenoverse 1 when it released however Im grateful for 2 changing the gameplay and keeping the game going to this day. However Im ready for a Xenoverse 3.
I saw that the new video came out, just when I wanted to play Xenoverse! I'm sorry, but I probably won't watch the video till the end to avoid spoilers.
@@HiddenChannel Alright, I beat the game. Here's a cool fact. During my playthrough, in a fight with Final Form Demigra, I actually managed to take him on my own and there was a cool cutscene where spirits of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo and Krillin show up and give their energy so the protagonist would launch, what I call "Z Warriors Kamehameha".
Really never thought about the time travel logic. Though it has been a while and I first picked up the game only to die to great apes a bunch so it hooked me off gamer rage. As for the story, the 2nd game does better via the mixing of movie villains into canon events, but a more original story is definitely something I and manny other fans would want for a possible(not looking very atm) 3rd installment. They honestly had a pretty interesting pair of characters in one of the dlc that could’ve been used as focal points in a 3rd game, but alas
I've recently startet to play Xenoverse 2 for the first time with all the DLC packs and after watching this video i'm glad that i've skipped the first game. lol Its pretty much the same game as the first one but in many areas refined and with all the DLC packs it feels like it just came out last year since its up to date to the most recent movie which makes it also jampacked with content. You can even play the story campaign from the first game in there for free! However, one thing they didn't improve is the grind, the RNG grind in particular, and yeah it sucks just as much.😅 But the Time Patrolers to challenge them to get Dragonballs don't appear randomly anymore, so thats better.🤔
I think Cell being perfect in the future is Towa's doing, just like everything else in the game. Also, Towards and Mira actually debut in the previous MMO, Dragonball Online, where they're... A married couple. And they have a baby named Fu, who shows up as a teen in Xenoverse 2 and fully grown in Heroes.
when you do parallel quests you use the time machine, you even see the time machine in the background. as Trunks did in the series pqs are other timelines, but the sacred timeline from the vault can only be changed by magic or the scroll getting old and chaging alone when you change there you change the real timeline like whis does any distortion can be unmade by chrona if you defeat the opponent
Captain Ginyu stealing your body was a great idea, however playing as Ginyu was so tedious and long because he's so weak. Also it would've been a cool challenge if Ginyu could take full advantage of your character's move set. My biggest issues with these games (yes both) is that the bot characters never use transformation abilities and don't really use their full move set.

the stat system is off cause of the all systems in play (damage capping) were you can't do over a set amount of damage to a target at one time. Xenoverse 3 hopeful they do it they need to overhaul the stats and Gear system.
It's ludicrous that so many complaints about the first game were never fixed in the second... people say xenoverse 2 improved so much from 1 but it really didn't
The change to Super Armor alone made Xenoverse 2 worth it. I wouldn't ever want to go back to Xenoverse 1 now that X2 has their story to play.
???
I always enjoy the quality of your videos. I can only imagine the amount of work that goes into what you do but as a subscriber of yours, it's very admirable. Hope you do Xenoverse 2 next!
Regardless of all these criticisms that are valid, I still love this game. I loved Goku popping in even if it was for no reason so that I could fight with a character I loved. I loved the way the characters acknowledged me when I went back in time even if it made no sense story wise. I think this game was simply made for the cool factor, and it worked for a younger me at least. Great video tho
Honestly this woman always cooks puts out the best Dragon Ball content on RUclips regularly
Vegeta ssj4 forever being unplayable simply due to it being locked behind preorder will forever be a L
What! That sucks, I just thought he wasn't unlockable at all.
Damn for real? I remember getting SSJ4 Vegeta and pretty much g maining him and finding it strange that I didn’t see many if any other people with him
At Xenoverse 2 didn't have this problem. Even with it's pre-order bonus of Goku Black base form. They made him a separate DLC later on. On PC, I admit.
@@HiddenChannelyou no u can play the xenoverse 1 story on xenoverse 2
This is explained really well from you! Bravo!
This game was my introduction to Dragon Ball. So this is very nostalgic
Around 21 minutes when that Fable 2 music kicked in.... AH love Fable and its soundtrack.
This brings back some good memories.
Fun fact: Since XenoVerse and then XenoVerse 2 are actually in the future from Dragon Ball Heroes (in heroes TokiToki city and then Conton City haven't been created yet presumably) Trunks should already have Super Saiyan God and 3
Xenovers was a game changer
The cutscenes are second to none in comparison to XV2.
Really? I thought X2 would improve them
@@HiddenChannel Umm well they're okay in XV2 but not as special like the SSJ4 transformation scene GT Goku had in XV1.
Kinda insane that this came out 5 days ago as of comment and i was looking for exactly a long form on this game lol
Awesome video, you earned yourself a new sub.
50:06 this is great ❤,Im sure you figured it out already but I definitely enjoyed watching you put it together 😊
This game is like, the best bad game ever
Not played this in years, used to love it
*LET HER COOK* 🔥🔥🔥
Honestly my biggest issue with the way the powered up villians were portrayed was i feel just the purple aura would have been enough. The res eye glare is too much ontop of that imo.
sucks that for the 360 you cant play online no more or purchase the dlc unless you already owned it :/
I’ve been waiting for this review 😁
Dragon Ball Xenoverse is definitely a videogame.
It's really insane how far the xenoverse series has come with just two games. So many fond memories with xeno 1 and Xeno 2
50:23 - 50:48 were the most horrifying seconds of my day 😂😅
Xenoverse 2 made farming the dragon balls slightly easier by the sound of things, in that one of the most reliable farming spots is on Namek and now it's "any mission where time patrollers can spawn", with the enemy patrollers generally being optional foes you have to challenge yourself on some missions and guaranteed battles on others.
Can't wait for you to do a video like this on xenoverse 2
I just found your channel and I'm hooked you go girl
Good times, i played and trained a friend and the battles were fun as hell hehe.
You should look into Dragon Ball Online and Dragon Ball Heroes as Xenoverse is heavily inspired by both. It's very much similar to a MMO format.
I love your vids! Would love to see you do this for Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission on the switch!
Who’s your top 3 fav characters in DB?
1 - Piccolo
2 - Gohan
3 - Vegeta
The day you quit uploading is the day I stop gettin on RUclips.
I like that you used Fable music in the section where you talk about the Supreme Kai of Time.
Video is fire 🤞🤞you putting out great content whats the name of the song used in the intro
Can’t wait for the xenoverse 2 video, if you are doing one🔥🙏🏾
Keep up the good work
Can’t wait for the xenoverse 2 video which is going going strong so many years later 🎉
I will say Xenoverse makes Time travel a little bit easier to understand
I always felt that the story for XV1 better. It could be because it was a new thing at the time but the twists were to me, a lot more interesting.
Fire! 🔥🔥
The Only thing that is better in Xenoverse 1 than 2 is that you feel your CAC presence in the story
in XV 2 you feel like no one knows he is around
Yeah those parallel quest grinding was annoying. I wanted a specific move that was only available as a drop from a mission and only if you met special conditions during the mission that would cause an additional enemy to spawn at the end of the mission which in and of itself was not guaranteed to happen.
Im glad you told me the online is dead I would buy this , cuz I never played it. But the backstory is all I'm here for thank you
Xenoverse 2 is wonderful. Been replaying with a friend lately after not playing for YEARS. Way fun
Cool video
Wait!!!!
THAT'S THE VICTORY POSE SOUND EFFECT FROM THE MEGAMAN X4/X5!
To clarify on the Frieza Saga incident
The big reason that this is a "distortion" is that Frieza powered up too quickly, meaning Goku, who was resting after having been severely injured during the fight with Ginyu, had to leave early, *before* he was actually ready to fight. You can see that his body is still scuffed up in the cutscene
I think him not achieving Super Saiyan is also implied, but even if he could, Frieza would just be stronger and Goku would still lose
Probably,they won't, they'll just add stuff to the 2
I saw that the new video came out, just when I wanted to play Xenoverse! I'm sorry, but I probably won't watch the video till the end to avoid spoilers.
okay
@@HiddenChannel Wait, what happened? There was a heart on my comment and now it's gone!
I've recently startet to play Xenoverse 2 for the first time with all the DLC packs and after watching this video i'm glad that i've skipped the first game. lol
Its pretty much the same game as the first one but in many areas refined and with all the DLC packs it feels like it just came out last year since its up to date to the most recent movie which makes it also jampacked with content.
Being flashbanged by Spoony Yuna was not on my 2024 bingo card, so thank you Hidden.
when you do parallel quests you use the time machine, you even see the time machine in the background. as Trunks did in the series pqs are other timelines, but the sacred timeline from the vault can only be changed by magic or the scroll getting old and chaging alone when you change there you change the real timeline like whis does any distortion can be unmade by chrona if you defeat the opponent
You going to do xenoverse 2?
I think its pretty cool to see your xenoverse 1 character help out on missions.
17:10 This was the best and most terrifying scene in the game. Straight up nightmare fuel
1:20:08 Someone starts talking about XenoVerse, and everyone laughs.
We need a dbz game where goku and gohan fuse as a what if character
you're cooking hard as heck
I'm surprised if the XV1 servers are even still live.
They arent only offline is available
