Jack White is so talented that he doesnt need that many other people adding to his sound, it can just be him up there or him with a drummer(cough white stripes)
I love it! I don't know why people always compare Jack's solo stuff with The white stripes, people have to understand that those are two different things, Jack would be so lame if he couldn't do anything else but the stripes sound... He is a musician, a real one, so don't expect him to be unidimensional, please.
That's my favourite song from The White Stripes cause it seems like Jack is talking like a priest : "If you're testing God lying to his face you gonna catch Hell !" Jesus Christ, Jack White is the best musician from this generation, thanks for making such a legendary music ! he is the best musician, nobody can be as good as he is. NOBODY. Thanks for uploading the show you're great.
Dude I totally met and have a pic with Ikey Owens from one of the Mars Volta shows!!!! He gave me a drum stick that I actually gave to my friend who was a bigger fan at the time...
This music rocks I mean it's nothing but the Blues like blue jeans blue eyes blue skies and the guitar won't play the blues if it ain't been in a pawn shop
The drummer gives a much faster feeling to the song, it could be even in the exact same tempo, but with all that percussion, it just feels really fast :S I will be always a White Stripes Fanboy :D
Its not about how many instruments, more or less, its about the core value of the brand, the white stripes stood for simplicity and raw, which is why they're awesome.
Yes he's a great drummer in his own right - but agree - Meg is a hard act to follow because she had ger own disaffected intensity and naive genius - I believe she was an equal part in the white stripes sound that could never be duplicated
I agree. Just because they have all those musicians does not mean they should all be used all the time. Whoever is on the synth sounding thing just needs to sit down. Still, Jack beasted this song. Pretty great.
I somewhat agree with the drumming. although, I think it sounds excellent at some points, and then at most other points, sounds really unrehearsed. but if anything makes it better, it's the electric organ, and the harmonica.
This is good, but with an added bass player and key board player, the white stripes could have easily played it exactly like this, but this removes the key element of blues music which is that it was raw and unrehearsed yet just as good.
I mean, he's a talented drummer, no question about it... Does it mean he did a good job here? Not really, he's too over the top in some of the parts, which isn't necessarily a good thing depending on the song. CHB is a slow burn, bluesy tune, and has only one "fast" part, which he nailed, but the rest doesn't really fit the song or the feel. I'm sure he's excellent, I just don't get why he had to overdo it, it's not like anyone would think he's a bad drummer, or worse than Meg lmao. Sometimes you do have to appreciate Meg's simple drumming, it never outshines Jack, it's just there, while Jack slays lol
That's not "technique", Meg had better timing than this drummer and she did not overplay. She IS a better drummer. That's why she has more soul. Like almost everybody else you're confusing overplaying with technique.
The Drummer was just killing it... not in a good way. Every other instrument that wasn't the drums and guitar should have just played it exactly like how it was in the song... I'm all for this whole thing, but this song just isn't a, full band type of song...
Normally I love Daru, but I agree he's a bit too busy for this song. Check out the video on YT of Jack and Meg playing this live in Germany back in the day. Absolute perfection. Sometimes less is more. Meg was a master of minimalism.
There's more to life than plain and simple, let the artists grow. I prefer the complex. Jack's playing with better musicians. Verily, the best musicians at least attempt to evolve!!!
+carlton white yea, but better musicians doesn't mean better music. And the thing I really take issue with here is that all the musicians that are playing with are musicians who are back up jack white... backing a musician or a band is way different than being PART of that musician or band. They are their own entity, doing their own thing, showing off their own skill. Thinking "how good am I gonna sound" not "how good is the music gonna sound". The drummer is exactly that. He is the worst sound hog and show off I have ever seen. Great drummer. Terrible musician.
personally as a guitarist I would get frustrated with Megs lack of improvement. I get why he did this. that being said I think the tension brought out a special something.
+gonzallas Maybe because they broke he did this? But yes, I agree that this is much better. As a guy who plays 14 instruments, I would also hate to have a drummer worse than myself haha
I agree, Meg sucks on drums, but tbh it kind of suits most of the stripes songs. I bet Jack can write songs that might suit Albert's drumming too. But he kind of overdid some parts, some fills were sick and you can see the awesomeness after a few replays, still a bit overdone at some parts
I notice that people were not happy with the drummer. Was it because he was doing to much? Are drummers suppose to stand up? Why do u think he stood up & then looked down? he must be a good drummer.
I don’t know what you guys are talking about. That shit was dope. Songs like this are always better live and the added drum complexity made it way cooler. I will say the drums did sound weird a couple times tho and he was showing off a little overboard.
Two was better, Sounded more authentic, more White stripes, Less Is More..........I get Jack has moved on, but when it comes to playing songs recorded and played by a two-man band , keep it that way, WE want it raw as it was delivered.....Not pre-rehearshed or undelivered by a band or bands that have NO context to it.
Filmed with an actual russet potato. Congrats sony.
Actually it was a screen recorder 😂 but the stream had a bad frame rate 👍
I just don't know why they chose a potato from China when Idaho has lots of potatoes 😁
Sony. Make believe... Of this fucking frame rate
Jack White is so talented that he doesnt need that many other people adding to his sound, it can just be him up there or him with a drummer(cough white stripes)
Too much going on
I honestly have to limit how much jack white I watch in a certain time period so as not to die of thirst.
Jack and that drummer alone would be an experience! That drummer means it!
He is bad ass
@@nathanblades3395 he should ad bass
We love 2 frames per second content
Holy shit. trying to watch this after some drinks is fucking difficult
I love it! I don't know why people always compare Jack's solo stuff with The white stripes, people have to understand that those are two different things, Jack would be so lame if he couldn't do anything else but the stripes sound... because this was a white stripes song.
of course theyre going to cpmpare it
That's my favourite song from The White Stripes cause it seems like Jack is talking like a priest : "If you're testing God lying to his face you gonna catch Hell !" Thanks for uploading the show you're great.
way too much going on... oh Meg where are you
I agree, this song is more about simplicity and its harder to focus on the music with all those extra people.
If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
This is way fixed.
Sony make believe in Slow Streaming Video
right? what's this 10fps?
@@hodjepodje1 I rebooted my laptop just to find out the fps prob wasnt on my side.
It wasn't Sony 😂 it was my bad Internet connection 👍
@@hodjepodje1 I counted 13 😂
Louder Jack! Can't hear you over all these instruments!
SOLO TIME!!! bawh ba bawh ,bang bang bang bang, harmonica harmonica, bass bass bass
lol
I miss meg white they were incredible together
amazing, but i have to listen to meg play this with him now because nothing beats it!
Jack with a hat is a different mode🔥🔥 demon mode
One of my favorites of all time...cool rendition
Dude I totally met and have a pic with Ikey Owens from one of the Mars Volta shows!!!! He gave me a drum stick that I actually gave to my friend who was a bigger fan at the time...

Love my hometown HERO!
IKEY FROM THE MARS VOLTA! SCOOOOOORE!
The drummer gives a much faster feeling to the song, it could be even in the exact same tempo, but with all that percussion, it just feels really fast :S
I will be always a White Stripes Fanboy :D
Fan of Jack White.. thanks for uploading..
This sounds like someone yelled "OK ERRBODY SOLO!"
Yes, please.
Rest in Peace Ikey. My favorite always
Liked these songs a lot more when it was Jack and Meg, plain and simple, not too much going on...
+Hugo Pires You speak the truth.
right. makes you think about what makes a good rock band, really...
Its not about how many instruments, more or less, its about the core value of the brand, the white stripes stood for simplicity and raw, which is why they're awesome.
This kicks the fuck out of the white stripes...
Evan Hodge you lot need to move the fuck on
Low quality you’ll never hear to live the day for we we play
Genius
Can't wait enough for his tour...
One of my all time favorite musician
Rip ikey Owens
Yeah complete overkill on those drums, the simple rhythmic beat on the original is what made Catch Hell Blues.
shows how meg's simplicity came out on top
Yes he's a great drummer in his own right - but agree - Meg is a hard act to follow because she had ger own disaffected intensity and naive genius - I believe she was an equal part in the white stripes sound that could never be duplicated
all they're doing is putting on a show. nothing wrong with that.
i agree 100%. still loved it tho
It's Catch Hell _Blues_ dammit! It needs more simple, raw instrumentation for the song to feel like itself. Still good version, just not the same.
Just reminds one of what a loss the breakup of the Stripes was ..... damn.
Gotta love the added harmonica though
This video looks like my pc when I try to run any ubisoft game
I agree. Just because they have all those musicians does not mean they should all be used all the time. Whoever is on the synth sounding thing just needs to sit down.

I prefer the white stripes version for some reason xD
It's definitely more raw and unadulterated, and I think it fits the song better. It's Catch Hell _Blues_ meaning it should be more unfiltered.
What a shambles
The drummer is bad ass.
This is good, but with an added bass player and key board player, the white stripes could have easily played it exactly like this, but this removes the key element of blues music which is that it was raw and unrehearsed yet just as good.
Also the drummer is a goddamn beast.
Hat's On - Hat's Off up down, down up anyway, ya take it to GO. Thank you -LG
Gooo ON Jack !
2fps XD
It was Jack playing the song fast. Not the drummer. Great version, I don't see why everyone is being a little girl about it.
You forgot. It matters., But it doesnt make a differance. It matters to you.
Objection! Daru Jones is never too much!
uhhhh the girl with a beard at 1:02
What beard?
Implantedclub in her behind
saw her :)
Filmed on or around Hallowe'en, probably.
Nope, no. Too much stuff for such a simple but great song.
ya
His drummer seems cool. But I miss meg white. They were the best duo.
Still can't understand why Jack White is so underrated as a guitarist....!!!!
Anyone care to elaborate....!!!
Imran K Jamil he's not...
Imran K Jamil I have no idea I need more!!!!!!!!!!! Love his ass...
I can

nope. Jack rocks.
Even old Disney cartooons have more frames than this video!!!!
Ikey :( ❤️
Funny how people from Michigan end up taking on the "southern" image later on in their careers.
Just him and Meg played this song better, louder, and with more soul. While I admire their technique, there's too much going on in this version.
ya
SNOWGOON895 absolutely correct on every point Brother
its a fucking concert. i wouldn't be upset to see a good show
That's not "technique", Meg had better timing than this drummer and she did not overplay. She IS a better drummer. That's why she has more soul. Like almost everybody else you're confusing overplaying with technique.
❤️
what is that fender-thing top of his fender twin reverb amp
Word
Is that the kay guitar jack got from moving furniture
Im to lazy to do it, but if you reveresed this, it would sound like a Rob Van Winkle track. That sneeky blue bastard
Hold on guys I think I'm having wifi issues
The Drummer was just killing it... not in a good way. Every other instrument that wasn't the drums and guitar should have just played it exactly like how it was in the song... I'm all for this whole thing, but this song just isn't a, full band type of song...

keyboard from the mars volta?
What guitar is that
Great performance with the song too many drums sounds off that way
it's hard to please people...
This reminds me of Wild Child by the doors

+carlton white Jack and Meg were special. She brought out the best in him.
2fps what is this?, the medieval age?
Ikey Owens!! :O
Drummer was good, but the sound coming off them was to high and loud; drowned out too much of the guitar play, which is what makes this song so great.
came here for ikey owens, not gonna lie
Filming with a nokia 33 10
without the white stripes, jack cannot afford his solo band at last ;)
Sony is trying to make us believe this wasn’t filmed with a rusty potato
I think that the organ and the other slide guitarist really make the song have too complicated.
Waaaaaay too much going on
this is what the loss of Net Neutrality will look like...re streaming speed.
old comments suck..that whole stage was all talent.
sound like jimmy page!

David Díaz If meg were better, white stripes wouldn't be underground lol
Just because the drumming is more complex doesn't mean it's better.
Jacks sound on his guitar is too low..
1:04 ?????????????????
Jack is "Captain beefheart" reincarnated.
I notice that people were not happy with the drummer. Was it because he was doing to much? Are drummers suppose to stand up? Why do u think he stood up & then looked down? he must be a good drummer.
Oh no please the frames don't help
get some sound equipment
Vegas version, I don't like it nearly as much as the Jack and Meg version
I don’t know what you guys are talking about. That shit was dope. Songs like this are always better live and the added drum complexity made it way cooler. I will say the drums did sound weird a couple times tho and he was showing off a little overboard.
Great song but this presentation is not doing it for me.
