The OP is focusing on the joke that Chad thinks Waldo wrote the book. Or illustrated it, rather. We all remember it - no one needs a timestamp for it. And why would an emoticon be necessary?

I took five years of acting classes and she’s better than me. She’s better than some actresses who appear on SNL.
I'm a huge fan of her but I'm surprised how good she acts. Other than this, she only ever appeared in Ugly Betty for a cameo. I know that singers have to take some acting lessons too because they also make music videos, but Adele isn't really a music video artist, at least not in the level of the other girls. This makes me want her to do a short film music video for her next album.
She went to one of the best staging schools in the UK so it is not that surprising that she can act.

Adele did GREAT on the show.
It’s really hard to do live comedy. Even if she giggled in one sketch, she handled it with grace-making me appreciate her appearance more.
When he said, "Where's Waldo? The yellow one." I felt that.
1.) I love how a part of the Chad character is that he's just totally unfazed with everything, especially in this skit; if someone came out of nowhere and startled me like Adele's character is doing, I would flinch -- at the very least -- and Chad is just shrugging and going "Okay".
2.) The farting noise and the "safety" got me!
