I found a way to remote control my pc from anywhere and the problem was the PC had to be on the whole time waisting power. But now i found a way to turn on the PC from anywhere tysm.
I have the exactly same module as you do in the video, and it works :D. Another way to hook it up to the motherboard is to rip-off some power connectors from and old computer case using some pins or steel wires to forcefully connect on top of each other.
The thing is that i never did this kind of diy tech stuff but your video makes me think that it s not that hard at all. Believe it or not, i m gonna' turn on my pc from my smartphone in the near future 🥳
Hi, I recently just tumble to see your video as I was searching for something like this. It is very informative and opened some new ideas for me. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍
I know that it is not a place to ask you about such, but after consulatation with friends i have no idea what to do - In the Arduino IDE while loading of the code to D1 mini i receive one annoying error - " Timed out waiting for packet header " - Me and friends do not know what to do. Arduino Forums also do not have answer. Full text: *error: esptool.FatalError: Failed to connect to ESP8266: Timed out waiting for packet header*
Great video, but i have a problem, i did every step from the video but in the end it tells me ,,button was not pressed". I have D1 mini v3.1. Do you have any idea what the problem might be?
"Button not pressed" message comes from a bad password. Make sure you put a good password on web_password variable, and put only alphanumeric characters. Than make sure you have accessed the link using yourip/shortpresspowerbutton?key=thepasswordyouhaveset. Your D1 mini should work just fine on any version.
Great video, thank you! I have 2 questions: - If I plug-in USB cable into the motherboard with the header adapter, will there be enough power for D1 mini to work even with PC turned off? - If my internet provider changes my IP (since I have the basic dynamic IP), will the connection still work?
Hello, Matúš! I'm glad you liked my video. - The USB provides enough power for D1 mini module, BUT your USB may not have power after you turn of your computer. Some motherboards have some BIOS options to keep the USB powered while computer is shutdown. You need to check if that's your case. - If you have dynamic IP there are a few options: 1. Check your router in admin panel if it has DDNS option. This way you can make a free account on www.noip.com/ and configure a domain for your IP like matus-danko.no-ip.com ... this way your router will keep that domain every time updated with your IP. 2. You can add some extra code to D1 mini module that will update the noip.com domain 3. Make sure you watch my next video which is coming in the 4-5 days, as I'm explaining more about this If you have any more questions, do not hesitate to ask. I'm glad to help!
@@IndoorTechnology Thank you very much! I'm curious about your next video, keep up the good work! I'll try to set up DDNS, but No-IP has 30-day refresh rate which is quite annoying, so I'll look for some others probably
Laptops will need much more technical knowledge, but more or less it's same thing. The downside it's you don't have enough space inside the case. As long you can attach to wires that goes to button, you can use the same code/tutorial in this video.

Hi! It is flux. Flux is a compound that helps clean the wires and allows the solder to stick to them. Usually the solder already have flux in it. It is not mandatory but using it, will make a better & cleaner solder.
Congratulations on the project, it solved a big problem I had. I'm searching but I didn't find it, in the code is there a way to define a fixed ip? hugs and thank you
Hi thanks so much for this video! I'd like to know if i have to request an ip pubblic from my provider in order to do this and activated the relè from outside of my house.. Thanks in advance for your help
Hey nice project. Everythings wrkng fine fr me bt the pc shuts off after 4 to 5 seconds when connecting nodemcu. all things are working commands on browser also working but just as soon as i start my pc it shuts off automatically i tried with long presss and short press both work fine . but cant remain on for more than 4 seconds. I have also tried different code project with octocopuler i face the same issue there also . Please help i cant figure out what is wrong. I also tried different nodemcus . My motherboard is Asrock H110 pro BTC+. THANKS plz help me out Sir.
Would the same thing work with a raspberry pi zero wifi? With my limited knowledge I don't see why it would not work, but I ask just in case. Very nice video btw :)
You can definitely turn on your PC with a raspberry pi zero, but you cannot use the same code, as on Raspberry PI u need to put some sort of LINUX. Also, you have 40 GPIO pins on pi zero ... you could do much more complex projects. So technically, yes, you can do this, but not using this tutorial and code. All the best!
I got the relay turnnig on and off remtotly . But I dont know wich wires I should connect on my HP DesTop 400. I know at the main switch there are 6 wires .1 red, 1 black, 1green, and 3 whites . Could you help PLEASE?
Maybe your button have also RGB led so that would require extra 3 wires. Just follow the path of wires on motherboard or button and exclude the wires that are used to power the led.
I don't have any diagram but it's very straight forward. The two wires that goes to button, should go to the relay on Common (C) and Normally Open (NO). Every relay have that written on them or specified in the schematic. Just watch that part in my video a few times and you'll understand how to do it.
I know this is old but you totally forgot about the fact that the module needs to be powered, now from where? if its inside the computer you cant connect it to anything because the PC is turned off

Awesome! I did it and, in combination with Grafana and HTTP button requests, it works like a charm!

If is forwarding, my PC ask me service name.
You can type anything on service name. Basically it's a http server.
Can I set this up with a home automation program
Yes, you can set it up with Openhab or HomeAssistant. You can also watch my other tutorial about this where you can set it up with google.

And button pressed and on relay dc power show 3 volts and red light ups on relay
But pc does not start
