    There are so many different switches out there right now that it's just wild. However, there are some crowd favorites that are just not easy to get... Like the C3 Tangerines. However, if you're a Tangie lover, you have a great alternative... the JWK Quartz R2. The Quartz R2 takes all the greatness of Tangies and adds a smooth long stem pole. Awesome.

    Hey Scott, I think it would be a great idea to revive “Should I splurge or save” series. You could cover switches and double shot abs keycaps like Epbt, domikey and obviously GMK for example. I hope you doing well. Keep up the great content.

    I would like to make a video suggestion, could you make an informative video on different type of springs, spring length and spring weight, and their effects on the acoustics as well as the typing feel? The way you discussed the trick spring on this JWK Quartz R2 makes me want to learn more the impact of the springs on the acoustics and the typing feel of a keyboard.

    I really like how you did this test. I think it helps a lot from a consumer perspective to understand exactly what the switches are overall so I can have a better idea of what they would do in my build. It'd be really cool to see some tests with the gateron base set as well as comparing switches with different variants, so do all the standard switches, gat yellows blacks, blues, ect, but then doe a test with the milky blacks, ink blacks, ect. But with just one switch so we can observe the difference,

    I own some quartz r1s as well as some Tangies and, idk if it has to do with the batch variance or something, but I feel the quartz switches sound significantly better than the Tangies. The Tangies have a unique, thin sort of "slappy" (sorry, this is quite difficult to use real words to describe lol) quality to them that I really don't like. The Quartz switches are more well-rounded and overall closer to a typical JWK imo

    Hey, love your videos and i just received my second bakeneko 65 as i loved it so much. I find the sciencey side to the switch reviews so interesting and as i dont know what to put in my new build, i think it would be great if you could make a huge switch comparison with all of the popular ones, and even maybe just a spread sheet with all of the data from switches you have tested so far. i hope you can maybe make this far fetched idea a reality and look forward to seeing what wonderful content you make, to do with switches or not.
    edit: you could also make a video on how the different keyboard lubes make and different brands of film can change the sound

    My brain just can't comprehend physics-wise how these turbo springs work… if a force is applied to a spring, all coils see some of that force and deflect in proportion to their material properties. I get that some coils are smaller than others, but what matter does the orientation make? Perhaps Korean steel is magic…

    • @yybbhn
      @yybbhn 2 года назад

      idk how true this is, but I imagine at least part of the reason is the weight of the spring. Since actuation force is relatively low and the weights of the stem and spring are low as well. The side of the spring towards the bottom of the housing will see more force.

    • @fldrmaus
      @fldrmaus 2 года назад

      I would also love this to be explained in a scientific manner. I am of the same understanding as you are, that the orientation shouldn't affect the behavior. I understand how progressive and multi-stage/complex springs work, but again, orientation does not matter there.

    • @fldrmaus
      @fldrmaus 2 года назад

      @Dexter I agree with you in the sense that the narrow end of the cone would have a different compression characteristic from the wider end. But could you elaborate on why the orientation should matter? Since the force is applied across the whole spring, as far as I understand, the narrow part would compress first and with the same required force regardless of where it is relative to the origin of force. I would love know more about this, so if you have any resources on this, I'd be glad if you could share them.

    I had to order these from Shockport in Ontario but still - great switch. 100% wish I knew it was a long stem before buying them (and hate retailers who don't list that sort of thing, after looking at half a dozen switches across 20 or so sites... you can loose track of a detail like that) and holy christ is the long stem noticeable, uuugh.... other than that these are great (though unlike Scott I absolutely filmed my V2s)

    might be a bit late for this comment but i found the spring’s designer on taobao in a store called jtalin springs. he says that the turbo spring was designed to have the narrow end face the bottom housing and lodge onto the bottom pole housing to make the spring more stable, eliminating any spring scrapping or crunching. Having tested it out myself, i highly recommend following this

    Hands down my favorite switches at the moment. I’m so happy to have these and idk I think that if your keeping the stock springs I like these better than tangerines!
    The 63.5g reversible spring is great weight and very good. While I think the 62g is to light for the tangerines and the 67g is awful to type on and much heavier then I would ever want…. So for me I have spring swapped my tangerines 🤷🏼‍♂️
    Honestly I like the weight and feel of the quartz v2 springs so much I was looking to buy some separate from the switches the other day 🥺 but couldn’t find any
    Also the longer pole is great these sound and type great I can’t stop using mine … and I learned about them here lol

      I agree that the stock springs on these are very good! I really enjoy these switches :)

    Great review as always! Super informative and love the ranking charts. Those are extremely helpful when comparing switches. Any thoughts on Gaterons new Blue Bubblegum switches? And have you seen the tease of their North Pole ones on their Twitter feed? Curious to find out what type they will be...
