I like you honesty I'm om my 5th shop and 35 years later there is always room for improvement hang in there hopefully some day it will just be good enough or we die trying ...peace
You have helped me tremendously. I will be moving my shop into a 12x24 shed in a few months. Was planning on just trying to figure it out as I go. Definitely plan on trying to plan before hand now.
Thats awesome, I love hearing that. A plan is definitely worth while, even it is just a rough sketch with estimated sizes, helps think through the workflow. good luck, let me know how it turns out!
@@Workshop1776 will do. I actually plan on filming a lot of it. Mainly just so I can go back and see the difference. I have done a lot of things to my property that I wish I had done this so I could see the difference. Figure I’ll start with my shop now.
I'm also in a 10x12 shed. I really need to put my table on casters. I set it up in the doorway of my shop and feed boards in through the door. I piece larger boards on saw horses. I also use the loft of the shed for shop storage and don't use the shed for storing anything but my tools.
I was going to build a miter saw station but ended up picking up the Ridgid rolling and folding miter stand as a temporary fix but turned out to be a permanent solution. I'm completely satisfied with it. It has sliding extensions for stops and support while taking up a minimal footprint and folding up out of the way. Might be something to think about. FYI, I've had the Harbor Freight dust collecter for 3+ years and it works great. I haven't ran plumbing for it but Rockler has a handle plus ports kit that gets the job done. It's just kind of annoying stepping over dust hose. I'd like to mount the dust collector to the wall eventually. Floor space is virtually non existent these days and I have no room, as is, for any more floorstanding tools.
I totally get this stuff brother. I think I have rearranged my shop here in Oki like 6 times in a little less than a year. Glad to see you back on here my man 👊🏼
You have to film all the little projects and stuff! I made the move from San Diego County to North Carolina last summer too. Not as fun as I remember cross country travel being. Glad to have you back
I like your shop man - lots of good tips though. Most workshops are always evolving, and changing, so keep it moving and you'll eventually get it where you want it!
@@Workshop1776 awesome. I have a 7w jtech laser I hook onto my shapeoko xxl but I was looking at a bigger laser. My wife wanted a glowforge but I can’t justify the price. Is the one you have user friendly on learning?
I almost bought a Glowforge, and im so glad I didn't. not because they are bad product, but i got something more powerful and much much larger for 1/4 the price. the Lightburn software is really easy to use for this laser, and they have a ton of easy to follow videos on youtube. i highly recommend this laser and Lightburn
Just out of the navy? That explains the bushy beard, lol! Seriously, Thank you for your service. Nice shop too! PS: I forgot to say that I have two of those fast-cap measuring tapes and I had no idea you can write and erase on the side of it. What an idiot I am! Lol.
