- In 1945 Japan knew it was facing defeat. Only a few of their defensive ring of island bases remained. The mainland had been cut off from vital supplies of food, fuel and materials. This however wouldn't stop them fighting to the last man.

So glad I have this on DVD. They ant no blurry junk. The bodies should ALWAYS BE SHOWN lest we forget the horror of war.
Where can I buy all these DVDs?
I agree, unfortunately RUclips doesn’t 🙄 mustn’t upset people’s sensibilities
Daddy passed away march 8. 2018 at 91. He was 18 on Okinawa. Miss him daily. Henry Eugene Delaney. My hero. Annette
I’m sorry for your loss. Thank you for your father’s service!
Bless you and your family.
🙏❣️
Bless your family ❤
NO blurred screens!!!!
My island hopper Army grandfather hated the Japanese until the day he died. These documentaries help me understand why.
Thanks RUclips for utterly ruining the Documentary that so many have learned from in their younger years. Congrats RUclips on turning the Documentary category into nothing more than an hour long video where 30 min is nothing more than a blurred screen, oh the horror of being exposed to actual reality.
My uncle was a flame thrower in the First Marine Division. He never talked about the war but his face said it all...
He's very lucky to survive, not many of them survived
My grandfather was flame thrower aswell. Didn't talk to anyone about it except one of my cousins while on his death bed. He said he can still smell the burning flesh when thinking back
Thank God we have RUclips that feels it is necessary to blur out parts of history.
Altered history is very popular too. Smh.
These men deserve a word that depicts them more then just "hero's".
Watching this series as an adult compared to when I was a kid watching it really hits differently. The absolute brutality of this war was insane and hopefully never occurs again
My great grandfather took part in the Pacific Theatre and helped liberate the island of Guam in WW2. He also helped arm US bombers before they went out on raids. This was such a great documentary!
My Grandfather was a Gurkha in the British Indian Army and served during the Burmese retreat. He saw action in Imphal where he killed a Japanese soldier and took his machete as a trophy. Our family still has that blade and worships it during Dussehra. The blade has East Asian writing of some sort. What confuses me is whenever I google "Japan WW2 machete" the search result shows machetes of some other shape. I've never come across a photo of what we have at home online.
Gadfly here 🤔. Machetes… every culture seems to have one. Don’t suppose you have searched for Kukri blades. It’s a Gurkha weapon. Lots of shapes with these items too 🔪🗡️
Have you searched the writing on the blade? That might tell you more.
Hats off to your grandfather. He must have been a tough son of a gun.

@@petepal55 Nah. Can't figure it out.
The war in the Pacific was very bloody and in my opinion the worst theater too have to fight in. I have a lot of respect for the American soldiers who fought against Japan then. Japan is a great country and its people are amazing and I’m happy we are no longer enemies. I didn’t have a family member I know of that fought in the pacific but I did have 2 of my Great Uncle’s help fight against the Nazis in Europe and my grandfather said they never would talk about it cause they saw the concentration camps and was deeply disturbed by it
I was on Okinawa. 3rd Marine Division camp Hansen. I came back in 78. I hope to return someday for a few days. It has some beautiful beaches and good people. Thanks for sharing.
Youyube is turning historical videos into bloody audiobooks!😤
My daddy was a seabee on Okinawa . He helped repair 2 airstrips. He was scheduled for the first wave to invade Japan. One glad daughter for the atomic bombs. He most likely wouldnt have come home. My brother and i wouldnt have been born. Neither would his 3 granddaughters or 5 great grandchildren. Annette
My grandfather was a naval engineer. He was on Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. He was non combat, but still never spoke about the war. I heard rumors about the things he saw as the US was cleaning up bodies, and he was set to work building bridges.
He was also in Korea. He was willing to talk about Korea, but not WWII.
It feels very strange to watch this while I'm on vacation in Tokyo.
I'm impressed. This video is pure unadulterated history.
Fantastic film.
Love the video! Keep up the great work!!
I love how it's just the episodes from WW2 in color
It was an informative and wonderful historical coverage documentary about the final days of WW2 for Japan
Second like and I love your videos
The Japanese were more terrified of the Soviets invading than the atomic bombs... More people died in the bombing of Tokyo than both atomic bombs combined.
I have also read that story. The Japanese were willing to still stay defiant even after the 2nd atomic bomb. When the Soviet invasion of Japanese-controlled Manchukuo following the Soviet declaration of war against Japan on 9 August 1945. That's when Japan decided to surrender on August 15th, 1945.
100% accurate!
May Peace Prevail On Earth
I feel like a I am also in that operation thank you sir 🙏
My uncle Sven worked at Oak Ridge as an engineer. When I mentioned honest-to-god-copper to him once he looked at me funny for a moment and then laughed and said all that must be in the history books now.
Man... that blurring destroyed the documentary. At least just blur the corpses... not the entire scene...
Great documentary, but the censorship is just pathetic, show everything
If a Kamikaze pilot only grazes the ship and survives, is he still a Kamikaze?
Excuse me, but at 1:54 in the video, something went terribly wrong with the camera. Just one big blurry mess! Can you fix it? Thank you!
The craziest thing is, its already on youtube without a blurr. Just search ww2 in colour
RUclips way of censoring they're afraid to show scenes of dead people
Are you going to step up and pay their bills?
Stupid RUclips rules about dead bodies??
@@waveygravey9347wut?
WHAT'S THE BLOODY POINT OF SHOWING A VIDEO WHEN YOU COVER UP ALL THE PICTURES???
Sir please don't apply burn in video 🙏 please
Gadfly here 🤔. What bomber group was stationed on Iwo. Never heard of this as a scheduled action by any U.S.A. air corps 🤷♂️
Quit blurring out the video that’s stupid!
What happened to the Japanese soldiers who were taken prisoner by the Soviets?
dad was at dc navy yard in april 1945 working on coastal bombardment tactics of japanese invasion beaches with chemical weapons, when he was selected to escort fdr's funeral caisson
At last Stalins involvement has been accepted. His Japanese prisoners were remitted when they were committed communists. Japan was in terminal into the 1970s.
Okay so is half of this doc gonna be censored or what am i looking at
Wow I like white camflaze that one of the marine soldier apply on his face like a skull camflaze
Your Welcome 🙏🏼 World 🌎 for the 2nd time Compliments of 🇺🇸
idk they fought in a theater
The entire screen blocked out because 'sensitive eyes' makes me unsubscribe
The Blurring has ruined this video
Remember 80th this event in 2025
Actually the Yamato was given enough fuel to make the round trip by Japanese military that gambled on her success 😮 but as per usual don't mess with the US F Around and find out
The yamato was going on a suicide mission meaning on it's way to Okinawa it was doomed, the Japs failed to realize it were planes that were superior at the time.
Every day is Veteran's Day to me.
Don't waste your nasty reply.🇱🇷
Same here. Growing up in my family, Memorial Day was a major holiday as most of my uncles fought in WW II and my grandfather fought in WW I. Amazingly they all saw horrible combat but made it home 🇺🇲🙏
Japanese are true if Americans attacked their mainland the loses would be so high and American public support would have been vanished
Stop censoring the violence youtube people need to see wars brutality and remember what they went through.
I could no longer tolerate blurred scenes anymore so I unsubscribed. It ruins the documentary.
why so much marbeling of the story
Talk about stubborn.
The Japanese were beaten and letting there civilians take a beating. And still refusing to surrender.
Talk about fanatical
E5bn,..
